SkyPage, Hi, The Vega 64 is a good bit slower than a 1080ti, It sits at around 1080 performance but the 1080 does have the edge over.

I got one last week with the 3-game bundle and applied an undervolt overclock. Rock solid at 1600 core @ 1050-1075 mV and 1000 HBM at 950-975 mV. Temps are very good and power draw is comparable to my 1080.

MDF, Hi, Doesn't it annoy you that it doesn't run at the claimed speeds, I've had a Vega AIO, Reference LE, Nitro+ LE and a Red Devil, none of them hit their stock core clock even when I was able to get one running with a 1725 overclock in Wattman the actual speeds never even hit 1700. Like you I grabbed a Red Devil with the games bundle & it's a great card, well built but fine tuning it to minimize noise under load is a battle. It may be due to the fact that I was spoilt by my Fury Tri-x which was almost inaudible under load but I can't get anywhere near that with my Vega.

Not super interested in this tier of hardware, but I have been using sapphire for many generations. Right now I own from Sapphire a 6850, 7870, R9 270, 2 R9 380, and 2 RX 470. I've had to have warranty service on a couple of them, but their althon micro RMA contractors are very good, quick and accurate. One of my 470s died after about a year of 24/7 operation, not mining just playing BDO and general reddit shittery. Althon micro sent me a brand new one and it got here like 18 hours after they got the broken one.

Yeah, they are good. I had a Fury card shit about a month after warranty and Althon only charged my a few bucks plus shipping to replace the card.

Wendell, you are doing it wrong. :P You are supposed to "fix" RX Vega cards yourself by seriously downvolting them, not adjusting the power target. Dial in a figure around or below 1000mv and look how far the clocks will go without becoming unstable. My reference RX Vega 56 does about 1420-1460MHz, depending on the game with 980mv. Default it does around 1350MHz with 1150mv. It was hot and loud like that. Now it isn't that bad and it preforms in between a GTX1070Ti and a GTX1080 in most games. In terms of power usage it should be around GTX1070 levels. Then I fire up a DX12 title and just start giggling when my framerate explodes. I especially like CiV 6 where my late game framerate doubles when I switch to DX12 from DX11. Pretty good for the €400 I paid for it. :P

To add some more information to this - the architecture is very memory dependent, giving you great returns for overclocking memory. Most 64s seem to hit 1100MHz without issues due to the extra voltage and binning (1.25v vs 1.2v on the V56 iirc). Unfortunately the HBMs internal timings are very temperature dependent, it starts dropping timings around the 50-60ish degree mark. Keep in mind HBM temp is regularly 10C above core. A driver update the last months also seem to have improved the SoC clock on the cards, moving the HBM-overclock wall higher (~1110 was hardcap for my card before, now I'm stable at 1200 in all games apart from PUBG that I've tried). As I recently mentioned, the HBM has a locked voltage, meaning the HBM voltage in drivers does not have any effect whatsoever on your actual HBM. It's instead the lowest voltage allowed to the core, tested by multimeter by the channel Actually Hardcore Overclocking. fwiw I've flashed my 56 to a 64 and I'm also running the Morpheus II on it, but im stable at p6 1602/1000, p7 1662/1075 (effective clock ~1620-1630) with HBM at 1150. With max fan speed at 1550 RPM I keep my card below 40*C in pubg with chill on, with lowest allowed framerate at 75fps. Sitting at the splash screen however my core drops to 1100MHz, giving me max temperature after 5mins at 36*C and fans at 750RPM. Granted everything but textures on low/very low, but running 120% render scale. fast edit, a V56 flashed with 64 bios essentially has the same performance as a 64, the extra CU's dont seem to add anything. This temperature issue is also the reason why you hear the phrase "vega lowes water" and why I think Chill has been such a sweet thing.

I've been very happy with my vega 64 reference card, but wish I would have opted for a 1080ti at the time. Still it's a very good card for 1440p gaming, and the blower style fan isn't too bad once you get used to it.

yeah, pretty much all my radeons were either sapphire or xfx (much love for xfx too) except for this polaris (rx480) i have now, it's an asus i got for 200 bucks before the miner craze happened in may last year. i was eyeballing the nitro+ but the prices never really came down here, so i just took whatever came available for the right price. it's a 1300 mhz model so it's not too horrible actually, it just looks butt ugly with the cheap white plastic finish (Asus Radeon RX 480 Dual OC)

He sold it to me for AUD$200 when retail pricing in AUSTRALIA at the time was AUD$400 and RRP in USA was USD$200 Yet to find another AUD$400 card that isnt overpriced or has proper Linux support that makes the investment yet Maybe in 2-3 years vendors might actually produce enough cards globally

I wouldn't swap my Vega 56 for a 1070 even if I could profit from the deal. AMD cards are best for a fully open source Linux and bleeding edge distros like Arch (which is what I use). Yes it's hot and yes it uses more power. But you can undervolt to bring some of that under control and I have mine on a custom loop, so it's not an issue in my case.

Hey Wendell! This card looks pretty cool but also somewhat comedic in its monolithic stature, does it fit in a more conservatively sized case like a Meshify C? On their website they say GPU clearance is 315mm, whereas the GPU is supposed to be 310mm long. It might be pretty funny looking to shove something that big in such a small space but I was wondering if it was possible? Or if anyone else has seen it done? Been looking around for a bit now, but as previously stated these are not very accessible cards currently.

The global performance of the adrenalin driver is nearly exactly the same as the first driver for the vega card for games, benchmarks which had its optimization before that date. In fact there is a decrease in performance by increasing the "memory" voltage in comparision to the first drivers...

Honestly i can afford it but it's silly to me spending the same amount of money a midrange computer would cost on 1 part alone, in this case the graphics card. Prices really need to come down but they only going to go up for pretty much the rest of the year. ): I'm thinking of getting a 56 but the sapphire's are priced closely to 64's. I bought my Vega 64 for MSRP, stuck a waterblock on it from EK, and I am considering to do a volt mod on the card, but well, it's a very risky move so i I will wait for prices to go down, potentially Vega to release in 7nm, and maybe then, so that if I brick the card, I can buy a new one :)

I bought this exact Vega 64 and I can't get it to work properly on Linux. I upgraded from an AMD RX 470. Since the drivers that would be used are the exact same drivers on both Linux Mint and Windows 10 (I dual boot), I just went ahead and switched the cards without doing anything r.e. the drivers as I wasn't sure but thought it was logical that was what to do. In Windows, it works perfectly, no drivers issues at all, card is recognised etc all that. But on Linux Mint, there is something seriously messed up happening, there is stuttering/lagging even just at idle, i.e. just like moving cursor around on desktop, and my 1080p HDMI connected monitor is not recognised either and get an error, something about VGA modes not compatible or something (sorry I can't remember exactly what it was). Switched back for now.

It's called limited because it seems that Vega 64 isn't sold in most computer store and if it is for sale somewhere by chance.. then it's selling for twice the MRSP. The average person won't be getting these until they are a couple of generations old and (if) the mining craze dies down.

Nice i just bought my Asus ROG Strix Vega 64 about a week now, I undervolted and OC slightly plus using less power, Its trying to run @1700Mhz and hitting 1655 to 1670Mhz @1.100 volts memory is at 980Mhz and consumes 280 watts in games. Im using MSI afterburner because to me Wattman sucks and i find it useless. Was going to buy this Sapphire but too pricey and the 3 pin power connector drew me away more then the price did. This is my 3dmark result www.3dmark.com/3dm/27636840?

Is enough a 700W Bronze Plus PSU for a system with this card and an AMD Ryzen 7 2700x?

Personally, I'm gonna be upgrading my pc's motherboard, cpu and r.a.m. throughout the remainder of 2018. Due to the fact that video card's are way over-priced now due to mining and the fact that my Sapphire NITRO+ RX 480 OC can handle any game I've thrown at it with Ultra setting's. A video card upgrade it truly unnecessary, until the prices stabilize and when I'm thinking of aa getting a new 4K or better monitor.

Hahaah, this was never sold, Sapphire pulled a bate and switch, they sent this variant to reviewers only, they sold the normal edition which looks identical, but is anoter beast altogether. no fan control, confirmed by sapphire, fans only spin at 100%, and led´s are not adjustable

I bought the xfx480 for 180 plus shipping but to say " not impossible" is over exaggerating. I haven't learned to build a bot ( good video about) , but most people are fighting to fine a descent price on gpu. But I'm looking to modify a a bogus water block I bought. It was for a reg half block 480cause they stop doing water blocks. If I was tweeter # f*** bitmining

As far as current prices go for this card, the Vega RX 56, GTX 1070 or 1060 all being in the high $300-$7**.+ and not having built in water-cooling at that price. NO WAY IN HELL FOR MY MONEY.

Level1Techs : I don't know where you got the number of 400 Watt in heat dumping....but ok. I already know that RX Vega 64, with the way AMD drivers visibly progress in the last 3-4 years, beats my KFA2 GTX 1080 EXOC in about almost every game....but still I doubt it will reach its full Maximum TDP of 295 Watts since AMD gpu-s in general are not utilised in DX 11 that is still present in 100 % of games....and since my other gpu Sapphire R9 Nano 4GB HMB1 has a TDP of 175 Watts but I cannot get it past 150 Watts of power consumption according to HWInfo and current clamps around 8-pin PCI-Ex power cable, tested in the same game (Mass Effect Andromeda) as my GTX 1080, where it eats on average from 245-255 Watts with a maximum peak of 286,532 Watts as a GPU alone 1080p on Ultra details. Hmm....and everyone is defending GTX 1080-s with how quazi lower energy consumption (180 Watt TDP) they have. As far as I know from first hand experience is : Nvidia obviously stating AVERAGE TDP and AMD is stating MAXIMUM TDP that their GPU-s could achieve if all the tranzistors could be awakened/utilised inside a GPU or to put it more directly if Mantle API, Vulcan API or DX 12 API with really enabled ASYNC would be present in a game and properly used to compute graphics. After all, TDP is measured or it can be calculated from data like GPU/MEM frequencies, memory bandthwidth, shader number through a mathematical formula to try to assess how much heat would a fully utilised card produce and needed a cooler to extrapolate from. So yeah I doubt Vega 64 can even reach its stated 295 Watt TDP and much less exceed it. Current clamps around each separate PCI-Express cable, calculation out of it and at the same time running HWInfo could confirm that....just like I did with my GTX 1080 and my R9 Nano :).
