Loved your scene at the start! This to me was the most disturbing assignment and we met Silver the charmer. Looking forward to assignment 4 and your reaction to it 😊

OK Alexa get ready for Assignment 4! Along with 2 that one is often cited as a fan favourite!

I loved your scene at the beginning, Alexa. I agree with you about the ending seeming a bit rushed, I'm not sure what the reason was for that. As for this being the most frightening, I think that Assignment 2 was more frightening myself.

Bad foley has never been so good. It made me conscious of every time the foley artist added footsteps in the actual episode.

@nehukybis Sometimes the most simple effects can be the most impactful. I think that Foley artists deserve far more recognition.

So... in Assignment 2, Sapphire and Steel end up 'resolving' the assignment, by creating a resentment against time itself - and here we have a similarily inconclusive resolution - sending the creature back into the future, to create it's own havoc, which, as you pointed out, just doesn't seem to be a particularly good way of safeguarding time... After Assignment 2, I always wonder if Silver was sent down to see if they would handle the next assignment any better... which they didn't. I agree with you about Assignment 3 being the most disturbing story so far - everything just feels... wrong. Even the lighting in the capsule seems to have the air of something very haunted.

When Rothwyn and Eldred talk to Steel about the animals, they don’t sound like real humans, real humans feel compassion of others even if that of something that can’t be returned. And really loving the beginnings of your videos I can't wait to see what you do next

Its preserving the timeline, but not necessarily protecting the species.

This was a brilliant concept. We tend to assume a post-scarcity, egalitarian civilization would necessarily be a utopia. But the ability to manage every aspect of the environment comes with thorny philosophical problems even if everyone is selfless and well-meaning. "Rothwyn" and "Eldred" came from an era long after the decision to eradicate other creatures had already been made. Some of the things they said sound monstrous from our POV, but I can see it from theirs. Animals? You mean vaguely sentient creatures that existed in a state of constant suffering, while making messes and causing diseases? Why would anyone be so cruel as to wish they still existed? They assumed sentience required a central nervous system. They had no idea animal sentience had been preserved in the fine structure of their biotechnology. No one behaved maliciously here. Arrogantly perhaps, but that's probably unavoidable once you have total control over your environment.

Another great, thought provoking story, but I definitely agree that the ending was rushed. So, what's coming next??

Hi Alexa this series is well awesome and I like the fact we have Silver, in the story along with Sapphire and Silver is awesome and the other characters Rosswyn and Eldred are awesome too.

It's been said that the root of most evil isn't active malice, but the simple refusal to think. Rothwyn and Eldred are a good example of that. They don't seem to have ever questioned how their society works. Not only that, but they don't seem to think that earlier civilisations have anything to say on the subject of morality. You'd think historians at least would have a broader outlook. But then think how normal, everyday people blindly accepted things like slavery in the past. The default position is to accept the rules and beliefs of the society you're brought up in without question. One thing that strikes me about this particular story is that Sapphire, Silver and Steel are much more the audience viewpoint characters than usual. In the first two stories, we saw S & S from the point of view of the human characters, who we were in sympathy with. Sapphire and Steel were the aliens in those stories. But in this story, it's the people from the future who are the aliens. It was a nice touch Silver finding that mouse though. It means there's still hope. Maybe there'll be a resurgence of nature when Rothwyn and Eldred's society has run its course.

The simple, direct conclusion to this one almost makes the previous five episodes feel like a McGuffin, in a sense there's not really a mystery at all. The horror here is more that the guest characters seem to have no grasp at all that what their society/culture has done is immoral.

A vegan says to me 'stop eating cows' I say ok then, when we stop are you ready to take them on as pets when the farmers turf them out.

their manure and grazing make them beneficial for other purposes. there would be less of them, with a different function. Capitalism has a habit of essentializing habits in life where none exist. in short, all cruelty against modern farming can find zero excuse with either of you.

personally find assingment 2 worse. because of the sacrifice of tully. he was dumb but also rather innocent and didnt deserve his fate imo. also happens to be the spittingimage of my great uncle john, who had a coal fire, wore slippers and fed me Lurpak, so i rather liked him!

As I mentioned before, this is my least favourite assignment. It's a bit preachy at times, and even as a kid i found it silly that people would travel to our time to study it, yet never leave the house and interact! But it is still creepy and unsettling though. Another enjoyable reaction video Alexa. The faces you made at certain revelations were entertaining and apt!
