SSE is one of those rare, stunning piece of cinema where you "feel" the movie: you feel the love, the anguish, the idiocy, the helplessness. It is intense and yet understated - the leads are under the mercy of fate and never in control. The romance, music, writing everything is so organic and nothing feels forced. Film for the ages.

I loved how subtle this movie was. At a time where we are hounded with these over-the-top loud movies, I'm glad filmmakers are still putting their passion, time and money on projects like SSE. Makes a huge difference irrespective to how small scale the film is.

Okay so about calling him Idiot part, the literal translation would actually be a Donkey ( katthe in Kannada). It is used pretty often as both endearment and to call someone an Idiot too.

To be honest, I thought this film would be right up Rick's alley. I assume he was distracted or not emotionally available enough to like this film at the time he saw it. I am glad Steph watched it with you. I had hoped she would. This film is one of the most grounded romances I have seen in mainstream Indian cinema. As someone who doesn't speak Kannada, I realised after watching the Hindi dub that I had missed out on some details that the English subs did not cover. Some things can be translated better to other Indian languages and the subtitles try to make it more relatable to a wider (international) audience. I can't wait to see part-B. Yes, Rakshit Shetty was the writer-director-lead actor of Ulidavaru Kandanthe (the first film where you saw the traditional tiger dance called Pili Vesha / Pili Nalike). You have also seen two other actors before: 1. Achyut Kumar who plays the colleague who betrays him and was the evil landlord in Kantara. 2. Gopalkrishna Deshpande who plays the jail-mate who rescues Priya's tape for Manu played the inspector Brahmayya in GGVV. You will also see the latter in 777 Charlie which is my next recommendation for you and Steph.

Rick is more and more eccentric these days. Just the way he would take his own plays seriously, every second spent infront of the camera and this job should be respected. Great to see Korbin and Steph loving the movie and very surprised to know Rick did not like it.Rick was the one who called the movie to be a breadth of fresh air when he reacted to the trailer and the movie is exactly that.Korbin did not catch the revenge aspect of Side B and also the presence of Chaitra Achar who I think will steal the show in Side B.The movie will definitely release in the LA area Korbin so keep an eye on the showtimes...

There's a Ted Talk given by Anuja Kamat- Titled as "What gives Music it's identity". I think you guys have reacted to some of her videos about classical Indian singing. In this Ted Talk, she talks about why some music sounds western, or some music sounds Indian. She even demonstrates it by singing an English song while making it sound like Indian classical and an song in Hindi sound like Western classical. She speaks in English and you guys will love it. Especially Rick because he's a student of music. Even if it's not worth the time on the channel, even then you guys will enjoy it and find it enriching.

Like Rick, even I didn't like the movie that much but i think its more to do with the rave reviews it was getting. I was very very hyped for it but my experience was a little underwhelming towards the end. It was engaging for 75% of the movie but in the end i got bored. I wouldn't call it a bad movie but i think they could have squeezed enough of side B in this and eliminated the third act of the movie. Also, my name is Rick too lol. Maybe the Ricks are not liking this movie that much.
