No doubt about that..He was brilliant..have seen every batsmen struggling to pick his doosra..One of my favourite bowler..i still copy is action when i bowl off spin..ha ha!

Great bowler and a tough competitor. Unfortunately due to severe knee injury, his career finished when he was only 27 years young.

Knee injury and couldn’t fully recover after it.. and perhaps more than physical he somehow lost the motivation on the way back

Saqlain was on par with Mutaih Muraleedharan in terms of skill set during the 90s..sad to see a genius of his level wasted..

Always remember that spell in the first innings of the 99 Hobart test which then became famous for the 2nd innings Gilchrist/Langer chase. Turned that test on it's head. Love the "other one".

Sad that such a great bowler's international career was over by the age of 25. He was poorly managed by PCB and after few poor games he was dropped forever. Had he played till the age of 35 her could have broken many Test and ODI records.

He was called to play against India on India's tour to Pak, after a long gap, Sehwag ended his career completely.

@kabooterjajaja If such talent was in India, he would have challenged Murli and Warne for most wickets and the best spinner in the Game.. But PCB's mismanagement of talented players meant he didnt even play 50 tests!!! He had the most fantastic top-spinner(doosra) and good off break too. Played well in pressure situations and knew how to appeal for lbw/bat pads :-) :-) .. He did hav bad games but every player goes through that. one of my fav off spin bowler.

What a humble guy and one of the best spinners of recent times. Pity the PCB didn't give him a chance after 04. Sohail caused the downfall of the team from then on by sacking inform players like Anwar, Saqlain, Inzamam, Nazir, Afridi and Elahi.

He retiree just at the age of 28 if he continues to.play till 2012 then he can break muralitharan odi.wicket record Remember he was the highest wicket taker in calendar year 1996 with 65 and 1997 with 69.which is still unbreakable The fastet wicket taker to take 100 150 200 250 odi wickets In 169.matches he take 288 odi wickets

Pakistan had everything a team wished for a pace attack of Wasim/Waqar/Shoaib, the spinning talents of Saqlain & Mushtaq, the all round geniuses of Razzaq/Mahmood/Afridi and the batting talents of Saaed Anwar/Inzamam/Yousuf/Younus !!!How did they not win more?

He was lucky MOIN khan was his keeper as Moin helped saqlain claim lots of wickets through stumping and sharp catches. They are the best bowler/keeper pair during their era. Imagine how frustrated saqlain would have been if kamran Akmal was keeper during his career 😁

8:50 - too damn right. i remember when pakistan came down to aus in 96/97, saqlain needed wasim to translate for him, the guy couldnt speak a word of english...its amazing how good he became at english in such a short period of time and tells you something about the man too. poor bloke - are ajmal, kaneria etc really better than this bloke?

what happened to his career? i know that his knee caused him trouble but what about his bowling - did he get figured out? i read that he tried to use the doosra too often and got picked - but he was a really good spinner, why didnt he come back from this?
