True. People do good work in a film first which then makes them popular in other areas like social media, which makes sense and seems like a logical movement. Recent eg- Kartik Aaryan or pick any great star/actor. The pattern seems to have reversed where people want to become famous first and then use it to show their acting which feels like such a bad strategy. Because you are making your '1st - POINT OF FAME/RECOGNITION' as A SOCIAL MEDIA STAR and then change the narrative for yourself to be called a GREAT ACTOR!! - which is too much work and too confusing for audience to make sense of the actor/ famous person.
