Sara is one of my favorites in the FE5 cast both for cult characterization, her combat and utility, and best of all, she's just fucking weird! Girl is poking around inside other people's heads and being a nosy little shit at 12 and I love that for her. Heroes gave her some extra meat but like... What we have in FE5 is still amazing.

One of the most interesting thing about Sara is how she is always the last ending after finishing the game. The order is Leif->Nanna->Finn->the rest in the order they were recruited->Sara, and her ending and B-route recruiment talk makes me feel she had something special with Leif, that's one of the reasons why I vastly prefer B-route over A-route.

Sara's eyes in her in-game portrait also give off a kind of creepy vibe. This is an aspect of her design that neither official art, nor Heroes really depict, which is a bit unfortunate. Also, as a Thracia stan, I say writing headcanon essays longer than all of a characters' lines is the intended FE5 experience.

Because, the heads of the church are indoctrinated to serve Loptous. Any that are shown to question their beliefs (like Salem), or show signs of disobeying the cult in any way (escaping children), are to be swiftly killed. So basically... The sympathetic ones are either in hiding by Gen 2, or they're dead.

@@Warchief-te9jj Actually, not all the children are sacrificed. Firstly, they're made to kill each other. Then the ones that died become juicy fodder for Loptous, and the ones that live are rewarded nobility and the benefits that come from it. So basically, the future is actively manipulated through indoctrination to follow a twisted regime. Also, one thing to keep in mind that the Loptyr Sect had a schism where there were two different branches. There's the Gair Branch, who are those that were banished (Including the children ofc) to the Aed Desert and became vengeful. Members include Manfroy, Sandima, Veld, etc. Then there's the Maerist Branch, where basically the Loptyr beliefs were revised to be less evil. However, despite their benevolence, they were hunted and executed through association of having the name "Loptyr Sect". Members include Deirdre and Arvis's ancestor Saint Maera, and Claud's ancestor the Crusader Bragi. The Bragi Tower in Orgahil was once where the Maerist Branch of the Loptyr Sect resided before they escaped to the Spirit Forest.

@@Warchief-te9jj There’s Salem, the guy who left because they started doing that. If they wanted to back up the notion that the cult was a small minority of the people related to Loptyr’s first vessel, then have someone join our side saying something to the effect of “we just wanted to live without fear of getting killed and the cult took it too far”. Have the sprite for a village you visit be one of the generic cult members and have him say he’s been lying to cult about there being no kids there. Take a scene from the manga where Seliph protects a young cult member from being stoned to death.

Sara is such a fun unit, she is in a way like using FE1/FE3 Tiki but even more ridiculous because she also has the unique qualities of being a Staff unit in freaking Thracia. She is an unit that appeal to people that want characters that have tons of potential growth (being she the unit with the highest growths in the game; but she is also inmediately useful, and any point of Exp she get pays off.

This is my own little headcanon and I never shut the fuck up about it but my theory on Sara and by proxy Manfroy is they’re descended from Saint Maera, just like Alvis and Deirdre. Consider the following: Deirdre gets her loptyrian blood from her mother, Cigyun. Cigyun is the spitting image of Deirdre: thick, fluffy hair with a silvery-lavender coloration. This is the same color as Sara’s hair. Kaga is known to use visual design similarities for world building; ie Silesians have green hair. He also uses class identity to do much the same. What class is Sara? “Shaman/priestess”, the same class as Deirdre and Julia, and whom the only other character in Judgral that has it is Linoan (whom we know is a descendent of Saint Heim). This in turn I feel gives a fairly interesting angle to Manfroy: was he upset that his daughter married an outsider because it could spread the Loptyr line outside of the control of the cult? Was Sara a backup plan in case he couldn’t find Deirdre? Or does even Manfroy or all people have some small sense of humanity and wouldn’t use his granddaughter that way which is why she’s kept secret within a hidden temple in the forest. There is SO much to unpack and theorize on for Sara even more than the usual Thracian character and that’s why she’s easily one of my favorites in the game.

I can’t say for sure but I do think that manfroy cares at least a little for Sara, while he is unequivocally an evil bastard there’s really no reason for him to be antagonistic to his own kin. He hates the world because it made his early life miserable but that does not mean he can’t care for his family

when you mentioned her gameplay, you skipped the part where she is a staff unit in thracia. where staffs are fucking god-tier despite their miss chance. Ik this is oversimplifying it, but, just: access to Multiple infinite-range warp staves. Oh, also, Thracia has a thing called movement stars, which give a 5% chance to move again in a turn per star. Sara has 5 of them. also, according to the FE Wiki (read: i have never actually seen this in practice), if you don't end up recruiting Sara, she gets turned into one of the deadlords on the final map. yeah. i think you can figure out the implications
