J'ai découvert récemment Sara Mingardo grâce à KZbin alors que j'écoute de la musique baroque, lyrique depuis des années. Je regrette de ne pas l'avoir découverte avant. Celle-ci a une voix extraordinaire et un talent inégalable.

Completely agree, and I really like Elina Garanca's version. This is just transposed a fourth lower, to F major. Sara Mingardo is one of those extremely rare contraltos whose voices are aging very well (she was only 41 years in this performance) and she just keeps putting out highest-quality performances years in and year out. Brava Senora!

Don't forget, that even after Sara became mostly Baroque singer (for me, she's the best, without doubt), she still sang soprano (!!) roles: she performed Neris in Cherubini's Medea in 2008 and 2015 and this role requires G5 and even A5!!

Una voz muy educada. Maravillosa.

@pscar1 Indeed, Sarah is good! Her rendition of "Gemo in un punto e fremo" would make another shining example is her virtuosity.

By the way, shushak2. You told, that it was written for Farinelli. In what opera did he sing it, in "Siroe " by Hasse, or in "Bajazet" by Vivaldi, who could transpose it lower for him? We al know, that Farinelli was a sopranist, but he liked to sing very low contralto notes and did it greatly (probably :)) For example Navigante by Leonardo Vinci with C3 and many Eb3 and F3.

i'd like to have words.... is anybody has it?

Yes! Navigante che non spera. A big mistery this aria. So Low completly out of the usual tessitura of farinelli! Unfortunatly i never heard a sung version of it i just can imagine it by watching the core. I dont see who can sing it nowadays. Podles and Mingardo can touch some very low notes..but Navigante stay low there so it will be to week to pass the orchestra ... I think that perhaps a countertenor with a very good chest register is the best option, like Ragin did in Vivaldi's Ardi Svena

What's the original key of this aria? In libretto on Wikipedia Andronico from Bajazet is contralto, but Garancia have sung "Spesso" in sopra/mezzo key. Maybe it is the original Hasse's version.
