I did a u-turn to become a social worker. Former social workers told me not to bother as you can't do what you sign up for, to protect children. One I spoke to said she went into the adoption side from working for the council because she had to leave children who she knew were in danger and there was nothing she could do.

The parents don't take them to see a Dr and the social services cannot take her away until ALL processes are carried out. But the SS doesn't do the processes properly and with due care or with necessary speed!

A former social worker started working at my child's school, when asked why she quit, she said she got sick of parents who use their "children ashtrays" been giving chance after chance, while parents who make one mistake lose everything. All because it looked good on paper that they were working with troubled parents. That's the system.

Sara was gorgeous… it’s really difficult to hear about the level of on going abuse she suffered for years .. that escalated after they said they were “home schooling “ her which should have sent alarm bells ringing since that child support services were already aware she was being abused in the family home . Not alone should the father / uncle and stepmom from hell be facing jail but whoever was her case worker in child support services .. they have blood on their hands and deeply failed a decently little girl . I hope the accounts of her injuries and evidence haunts then every night as they sleep. What a absolute shocking disgrace.. anyone involved in the case should lose their job and face criminal prosecution.. only then will Sara have justice and only then will it make them do their job more diligently and prevent the next Sara type case happening. That girl truly suffered a long torturous prolonged death unimaginable to most human beings. The 3 charged should never get out of jail and with a bit luck they will get jail justice from the other inmates.. this is one of the worst cases of abuse ever .

I worked in schools and nurseries for over three decades. Many years ago a neglected child would have been investigated and something done about it. Now the threshold is so high before intervention occurs. Social services is not fit for purpose. It isn’t necessarily the social worker’s fault. The whole system needs investment and starting again from the ground up. What happened to this child is disgraceful beyond words.
