She totally snubbed Susan Lucci at 2:34 - but Lucci is smiling and happy for her win. SMG told Kathy Griffin that Lucci had her fired for winning the Emmy, which is difficult to believe.

It's not true. Gellar herself mentioned in an interviewed a few years after this win that she only had two episodes left to tape after her Emmy win. By that point, the scripts would've already been written and one of them obviously had Gellar's final scenes so Lucci couldn't have demanded her ouster when it already was scripted/written before Gellar's victory Plus, it's a given fact that SMG is difficult behind the scenes, hence it'd not be out of the ordinary to tell a falsehood just to instigate trouble. I also laugh at some members of SMG's base thinking that this Emmy states she's a better actress than Lucci. For one, there were a lot of politics involved with Lucci not winning (i.e. the ""will she or won't she win?" deal garnered the Emmys great ratings. The longer it kept up, the more cash cow shows they could produce) and Emmys, like acting as a whole, are subjective. I think they both did great jobs as Kendall and Erica. However, Lucci is far more professional than Gellar

To be fair, Susan Lucci knew that she was on camera here, so it's no wonder she wanted to show her best side, so to speak. I'm not saying that she wasn't genuinely happy for Sarah, I'm just saying that we can't know for sure. She could have still been acting jealous off-camera. Also, it's possible to be BOTH happy for someone AND jealous of them at the same time. I can imagine that Susan Lucci was probably not thrilled about the Emmy Awards making money off her losing year after year. Sarah, a much younger actress, and winning an Emmy Award after just a couple of years on the same show that Susan had been on for much longer without winning an Emmy ... it would be understandable that Susan might resent that, even if she may have been happy for Sarah all at the same time. Again, I don't know either of them personally, so I can't say for sure what happened, I'm just saying that it may be that both of them were more or less telling the truth.

@@liljimlambert7 whether she is or not, bottom line is she (and Lucci) provided lots of great entertainment on AMC for the two and a half years SMG was on the show, plus in other projects (Buffy, for example). That's what counts.

@@cajayson8301 Eh, It's funny that you say Sarah is difficult because she is still friends with a lot of people from this soap - Kelly Ripa, Eva La Rue, Sydney Penny, etc. She was only a kid (playing an adult) on this show.

They were all very good, but I'm SO HAPPY that Sarah won. Plus, let's be real, Buffy may be an iconic tv show, but still, Sarah and the whole cast did not get nearly enough credit and recognition for their incredible acting in the 7 years that show was aired. At least she was able to snatch this Emmy if not for Buffy...
