@@Sarah2ill yes, I forgot to mention the editing, which was also ON POINT!!! Excellent work, Sarah! It’s been really cool watching you grow as a musician and as a professional. The new record looks sick too. Love the colors! I’m hoping to press one someday too and would love to “make it” as a professional musician although I’m a bit old for that maybe (I’m 44). My music craft is at a high level, but I’m pretty disillusioned with the prospect of how to make money with my music. Kinda thinking I’ll pass on that, make money as a marketing and design professional, which is what I do now, and continue to hone my music craft and continue the plan of simply making the best music that I can.

Appreciate you for sharing. It’s been dope watching your evolution. We’re roughly the same age and it’s interesting hearing you talk about finances/financial literacy. Started investing/trading during the pandemic (s/o to Earn Your Leisure), and studied the business side of the music business, which caused the music to “suffer” a bit (not practicing enough). Also, I’ve been experiencing a bit more projection from people within the past few years, surprisingly from older black men (which is a whole other story). I want to continue to wish you well throughout your journey. Bless🎹🙏🏽…

How can i afford therapy if i don't earn from music yet? Should i give all my time for a stressful job to get money and then pay for therapist, but i have now much more stress? or should i start earning from music and then invest in therapy? i don't want to waste time and i want to start doing music now.
@Sarah2illАй бұрын
I would start by contacting you health insurance. You most likely are already paying for health insurance and are wasting your money by not using it. It’s typically a $20 or $30 co pay depending on your insurance but you have to do the research. $30 is affordable for professional mental health. I am willing to save up my money ($2k) to get an ASD assessment. Make a plan and save up. Your mental health should be your top priority. It will show up and block opportunities if you do not address it. Why do you work? Let your money work for you! Get a side job if you need more stability. I worked at the mall, cleaned apartments and worked at Chillis until I become a full time producer. Go get the help you deserve and watch everything come effortlessly

@@Sarah2ill I am working a part-time job as i learn to make music, as i am only a beginner Thanks for replying. I've been thinking about therapy, although my mental health is good and i take good care of my physical health, but surely i'll invest in therapy as well as i'm curious what hides inside my deepest mind. Also i'm not from US, so the health insurance works differently here. My job doesn't give health insurance.

This video came at the right time for me, I'm jotting it all down lol! I've been growing a faceless type beat channel on KZbin the past 2 years. Few thousand subs and making a little living off it! (Pays for at least all my groceries each month and that's a W for me - sometimes my rent too). I also began to drop some of the beats on Spotify and am sitting above 20,000 monthly listeners right now. All of this is faceless. Now I just launched my Instagram and few hundred followers off the jump from the KZbin/Spotify audience. I'm now thinking of ways to stratedgize and market myself on these platforms. Thinking potentially doing some beatmaking videos on KZbin and can filter them into socials like IG. Showing my face. Then building a little following via that and start dropping loop kits or something. Just for example. If you have any advice I'm all ears!

Thanks for sharing your story Sarah. The tricky part about being self employed with a passion for music creation was the amount of buckets I had to keep filling up to make a livable wage. I had to be a social media marketer, under stand multiple genres for music libraries, selling an e-book, selling sample packs, email marketing, website design and development, how to record and coach artists, how to sell yourself, how to do sound design, how to mix your music. Sure all of those things can be outsourced if there's enough budget to keep the company afloat while those things are handed off to others. There's too many distractions from the process of creating music and so hard to find a significant amount of income to make the path of a pro extremely unlikely for most in pursuit of music for money.
@Sarah2ill2 ай бұрын
It’s most definitely not for everyone! I come to realize that I am a very fortunate and crazy person lol I think it’s super important for everyone to have a stable income before becoming a full time independent artist. There is nothing wrong with having a 9-5 or a part time job to feed yourself and pay rent. I think it’s dope that there are other opportunities that can pay that are music related and close to what you may want to do for yourself in the future. I worked for Apple Music for years producing radio shows on a daily basis which set me up to be a monster lol with this economy, you gotta do what you gotta do! I wish things were how I was back in the day when artist could truly be broke and be an artist lol

What questions does a therapist ask?
@Sarah2ill2 ай бұрын
Therapist are a safe place to talk about anything with one anyone judging you. They provide exercises and resources for you. By my therapist listening to me, she was the one that validated my PTSD And referred me to a EMDR therapist which is WAY better than talk therapy for someone that has experienced trauma. They may ask you about your childhood. Your relationship with your family and how it shows up in your work, relationship with your partner and friends. They may ask about your mental health or your families mental health and how you are feeling and how you deal with those feelings. They may ask what goals you’d like to achieve. They may help you work through a variety of challenges you have and are experiencing in life. They may ask you about where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years. So many things. It’s very helpful. You cannot rely on your friends, family or partner to be your therapist as well. It needs to be a complete stranger that is genuinely there to help you (if you want it)
