We live in rural Canterbury in Oxford 45 minutes from Christchurch on a farm we are the 3rd South African family in this small town or village 2000 people live here

i think its teh most comfortable city in New Zealand, the flatness is what i like lol. But im bias ive lived here most my life. You have pretty much everything. The beach, easy as hell transport. Plenty of concerts and the stadium is about to be built, the new court theatre is being built right in the heart of town across from the Library, plenty of comics etc come down here just saw Seinfeld a few days ago. Saw Dave Chappelle here also adn Eddie Izzard and Jimmy Carr and plenty more, therees a few showes that dont make it but you can just fly to Auckland/Wellington or whatever for those. After travelling around the nth island and getting back to CHCH, Im kind of glad i reside here, im reasonably happy and just remember...doesnt really matter WHERE you are in the world......its up to YOU to make it whatever you want it to be.

Christchurch is the best city in NZ hands down Auckland is crap and we moved from Auckland because it sucks people are not friendly over priced and traffic is too much.
