I did a huge declutter a few months ago and it was funny to realize that I really do only wear the same 10 things all the time and that a full or an empty closet doesn’t make a difference, I haven’t felt the need to fill it since ! I did replace a few basics that were getting old but we really don’t need as many clothes as we think we do

But my clothing is slowly growing because I've been trying to get more but I'm very picky about the things I buy because I usually keep pieces for years. When we moved from Australia to Canada my partner accidentally packed all my clothes at the back of our storage unit, so i had no choice but to start fresh with only a few things, it was actually really fun, it's funny how much you realise you don't need when you're really compelled to.

If you like, all those tshirts would be super easy to fold and stack in shoe boxes file style in drawers, it saves sooo much space and would open up your closet a ton. I do it and it changed everything, it's konmari style. I also eventually changed out my hangers for "higher hangers" which gave me more space underneath for a shoe rack or whatever, I personally got some shallow plastic drawers from target and organized bras and leggings etc into them

The process of serious decluttering/organization can be so discouraging.... everything starts off well but halfway throughout it all looks worse than before so it’s easy to wanna give up. But the final product is SO satisfying!!! And so good for mental health. Depression can be the reason our rooms get messy to begin with (basically my life story. I do the same thing of throwing my clean clothes on the floor) so taking advantage of those good moments you have is important because a deeply cleaned room is like a breath of fresh air :) I recently decluttered and deep cleaned my room, currently in the process of reorganizing and redecorating but it feels great. Thanks for that awesome shirt hanging tip btw 🤩

I was supposed to stay as an Au Pair abroad for a year but it only turned out to be two months. Thing was, I had packed for a year (basically all the clothes I owned) and... It was so incredibly expensive to get all of my luggage back home. Unbelievably. Expensive. Like, 50€ per kg. And with two bag that weigh 58kg all together that was out of the question lmao. I had no choice but to purge my closet. I left like half my clothes where I was staying. Mostly stuff that was getting old or things I didn't really like wearing anyways but still. Big Oof.

Laundry tip: when hanging up shirts to dry (this can work on other items), out them straight on a coathanger so they can go into the wardrobe immediately after drying ^_^

Anna Rehbinder it’s true that this is all thrifted which is leagues above buying these pieces in store but it still takes resources for these items to be donated, sorted at the thrift store, and her resources when she went out and bought it. It’s probably still a good practice not to buy so many things that you “forgot you owned” and “only wore it once” even if it is second hand 🤷🏽‍♀️

Okay if you think Sarah has a lot of clothes, she has far less than threadsobsessed (Melissa) does. I know Melissa does sell on depop, but she keeps A LOT of it (Sarah doesn’t have a room full of bins and bins of clothes). Also, Sarah buys stuff she likes and clearly she likes band tees which is why she has so many. I probably own 20+ camis but that’s cuz I wear one everyday and have owned some of them for years. I’m sure Sarah does the same for her band tees.
