I’m so happy for you Sarah. I can remember when I moved into the place I currently live in, which would be seen as... very much nothing special to most people, I guess you would say. But coming from the place I was in where the roof was leaking, the walls were covered in mold, everything was broken or 50 years old (literally). I just felt like I was living in a PALACE to just have things that everyone else takes for granted. I can’t remember where you talked about the state of your old apartment (YT or insta?) but I imagine you’re feeling much the same. It made me feel so safe to just be living somewhere clean and new and not in a health hazard, and also like I wasn’t extremely ashamed of my home, and I can’t tell you what a difference that made to my mental health. Living in a place that is run down can be so degrading. I hope you have a similar experience. much luck in your new place! Can’t wait to see how you set it up.

Yes! So happy for you. I saw on Instagram when you said that it didn't feel like it was your place and that you felt like you helped someone else move. I can only speak for my own experience but I had the feeling so intensely and the it faded with time and also as soon as I had loved ones over in my new place that helped a lot! I'm so excited for you!! I also need windows and natural light, I feel ya on that. We are lucky in that our living room, dining area, and back door have windows - four in the dining area alone! I will say, I have to move into a house for my next big move... my apartment complex has a corporate housing unit right above us and these people come and go at all hours, they make a TON of noise all of the time... and too many people seem to be stuffed into a two bedroom unit but the complex makes bank on corporate housing units and the managers don't care about our noise complaints. I am tired of the stomp walking, the weird scraping of the bedroom walls at all hours, and the constant stream of people stomping up and down the metal stairs at all hours. I just really crave some PEACE. My wish for you is that you don't have noisy neighbors!

I just moved in the 6th! I also am not pushing furniture against the wall. I think doing that is growing out of style, when you see aesthetic furniture advertisements at ikea/ HGTV the furniture isn’t often pushed against the wall. Exciting stuff !

In terms of light: if you have plants or want to have plants, I have been looking into getting either the Soltech Solutions or the GE grow light bulbs. They're both a little expensive (especially the soltech solutions one) but they're just light bulbs that you can plug into fixtures and get a balanced light spectrum (that isn't blue or red or straight up purple like the grow light I currently have) and you could grow plants or herbs which I think might help with Seasonal Depression. I live in Chicago area and I have a ton of plants and I feel it helps to be around greenery during the winter and I'm really thinking that a grow light that is balanced would also help because it's specifically supposed to mimic sunlight for plants.

Love your new apt! I did wanna add I stage homes for a living and you typically want your couch to be on the "main wall" in the living room, meaning when you open the front door it's the first wall you see. It gives it more homey vibe rather than a tv. Just a suggestion though! :)

OH ALSO I highly suggest “soft cat carriers” they are perfect for storing in apartments and they have less space to see out which is actually great for cats. I got one that looks like a wide computer bag sort of and my cat does great in there! I got mine from Amazon! I highly suggest them!
