If ever someone’s music (particularly this song) deserved to be called hauntingly beautiful it’s Sarah’s.

She and Tori Amos were my saviors. From 14-24 years old, absolutely obsessed with both of their catalogs. I am nearly 50 now and I’ve aged with them and the community. I went to the Fumbling 30th anniversary tour in Austin. The year before, I saw Tori Amos at Red Rocks. Both shows were magical and humbling. So thankful for these gifts.

I saw her twice for fte30tour in Kansas City and again in Sugarland, TX. Hoping she would add a New Orleans stop as both concerts ended badly for me and my husband experiencing medical issues. Not sure if shes on TikTok but I have been circulating several performances to congratulate her on the Canadian hall of fame recent honor. Her gift is so special to me and we're on a first name basis even if she isnt aware😂❤

@@HB-xf2xl I was just reading up on present day Tori and it seems that she has lost a lot of the power of her voice and it is hard for her to maintain a note for a long period of time as she used to do. I saw a clip from Red Rocks and I can hear that. Yes, she is 61 but from what I can tell, that isn’t the issue really. Looks and sounds like her vocal cords have been damaged. Reading up on her, it does seem to be the case. :( That makes me sad. I’m glad to hear the concert was good nonetheless. I saw her in Austin TX at a small outdoor venue in 2004. I feel very lucky.
@HB-xf2xl3 ай бұрын
@@Laura-rp2ki she definitely has some vocal chord damage, her voice has changed dramatically even since her 2017 tour. She hasn’t said anything about it publicly. She was still wonderful, though. And I saw that show in Austin (that’s where I live!) it was 2005 at the old backyard on beecaves! Katrina had just hit, I believe. She covered When the Levee Breaks. Great show!

I broke up with a long-term girlfriend back in 1999. I used to listen to the entire Fumbling album at least once a day for months after that. Sarah kept me company during those difficult days. Now, when I hear any song from that album, it really pulls on my heart. It's a strange feeling, but not a bad one.

I never saw this at the time! Thanks for putting this up. It's so haunting. It's such a wonderful song. Such a dark genesis for the lyrics - must have been cathartic to write but brave to go into the mind of your own stalker. I only bought the Fumbling CD because I was intrigued by the cover; Sarah was scarcely on the radar here in Blighty until 'Surfacing' had been out for several months. Kinda felt like my own special secret for a while. It's one of those rare albums that hangs together so well from beginning to end, it seems to flow perfectly, A rare thing
