Congratulations on your award and good luck with the national award. I've just bought this sewing machine. I've barely scratched the surface yet, but the thread cutter is wonderful. Have fun!

This was funny to watch because my mum had a sewing machine when I was growing up. It was a Singer with a wheel, yours is so modern! Amazing.

I am so thankful for the work you do. This is incredibly timely as since getting my "colors done" and style as well, I became a little frustrated when shopping. As you know, finding an item you need in the correct color, style, that is made well AND that does not cost an arm and a leg, can oftentimes be an impossible task. So, I decided to learn how to sew as well. My first project is a shawl collar belted knee length wool coat in Dove Grey. (Bright Spring, Soft Dramatic). Watching you learn from the beginning is going to be incredibly valuable to me so, thank you!

Thank you so much! Your project sounds quite advanced! That would be a bit scary for me 😅 let me know how it works out! Best of luck with it 💚

@@sarahryanthestylecoach Oh no... LOL! That is what I am working towards. The class has us doing other projects first. In my neck of the woods there is a fabric store which teaches sewing as well. Beginner, intermediate, advanced. No, I am NOT just making a coat straight away. LOL

Congrats on the award, you truely deserve it. Also congrats on the new sewing machine and taking sewing up full stop. I started early, making clothes while at primary school, learnt from a book given as a present, as mum said I was too tall to find clothes in the shop for. (I am not tall by todays standards though). I had it as a obsessional hobby, made my own clothes and for others, until my forties when, against all the odds (and after a lot of grotty jobs) got into art college and studied for a degree in textile design, the start of a new career, well the first one really. I am so pleased for you, hope you and your machine are very happy together, there are always so many new skills to learn in life, whatever age you are and whatever skill level you are at, I am still learning - I wish you joy!

Thank you so much Trisha! I’d love to take a dress making course and learn more. That’s next on the list! ☺️

Congratulations on your award! 🎉. Am still using a 40+ year old machine, which still works well, but I like all the new handy features on your machine 😊

Love this video! I am just looking into finding my first sewing machine right now, such great timing, really relevant content for a personal style channel. Looking forward to all your future sewing content! 😄

It’s a minefield to pick out your first sewing machine I found! Once you narrow it down to the brand you want and some ‘wish list’ items, it makes it easier! Hope you find one soon! ☺️💕

I never saw a modern machine before. It looks interesting. I'm looking forward to you testing it out. A small tipp maybe: get one or two more packages of needles (the variety you'll use the most of) because you will eventuelly break them. Also the plastic undercoil is fine but you might exchange them with metal one.

Thanks for the tip! Oh yes, I already have a number of needles in my kit ready to go! I spent today using the machine and I’m looking forward to sharing the results!

What an amazing looking sewing machine. You're definitely inspiring me to pull out mine which hasn't been touched for quite awhile, so thank you! I also have a serger which is so difficult to thread. You mentioned that there's an overlock foot on your machine and I'm wondering if this can really work well enough to prevent seams from unraveling so a serger isn't needed. Once you get used to your machine and have a chance to work with it, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. And congratulations on your award!

Thank you so much! I’ve already used the overlock foot and it has done a great job. I’ve never used an overlocker so I can’t compare. I might do a straight stitch on the seat of trousers along with the overlock stitch just to be sure!

Very useful, thank you. Mainly I'm making fabric art using scraps, and it has to be done by hand, but it would be good to be able to make the backing more quickly using a machine. Slow fashion and slow living are necessities as well as ideologies for me, so the autumn might be time to start altering or even making clothes too. Congratulations on the award!

Thank you so much! Yes I do find the autumn and winter months perfect for sewing!

Its too late now, but I would have recommended the Singer 9960 for its computerized embroidery stiches. It seems like my machine has fairly similar features to your Janome. If I buy an overlocker I kind of want one that converts between overlock and chain stich, though I could also just buy both. I don't know if the pain of converting between the two options is worth the space saving in my small house.

Thanks for watching! I’m so thrilled with the Janome 5270QDC. Still haven’t didn’t on an overlocker yet but I guess one machine that does it all would be best!
