The "I'm just making this poofy Miku cosplay and I'm done" to "How hard can it be to get into lolita again" to "I'm making a Sakizo." pipeline is real and my wallet is trembling for this new hyperfixation on sewing in falling into! Strawberry Supremacy!!

When i heard "Im doing this full time now" i SQUEALED. Im such a huge fan of your work, your so incredibly talented and i look up to you SO MUCH. The first ever cosplay piece i sewed was a witch hat for my Phantombur cosplay to vidcon, last year, my first ever convention, and i couldn't have done it without your Mona hat tutorial. It genuinely made me feel so confident and so proud of myself and i just kept repeating "im a 13 year old with zero sewing experience, and i made a whole hat." Thanks for your amazing content, you've inspired me so much and idk how to thank you, and also congrats! Im happy that you can do what you enjoy full time :)

"I just want to walk around the dealers room and have people tell me I'm pretty" is the most relatable quote. I always say I like someone's cosplay even passing by, I know how much serotonin i get from someone saying that I know people will likely too.

Watching the whole process really brought me back to my memories of when I attempted to create a Kingdom Hearts Donald Duck cosplay nearly ten years ago having ZERO experience with even touching a sewing machine lol this really makes me want to attempt it one more time :p Seeing as I think this showed up in my suggestions cos I was watching some videos on crocheting as I suddenly started this crochet bag that I want to make to carry my Steam Deck around LOL

I'm in the same boat as you! Very first sewing project is a whole ass cosplay. I'm on the last week and making nice progres, will likely finish by con! It's really rewarding to see the fabric turn into Qiqi (the character I'm cosplaying). Also, made a scrap toile and one that is actually a nice summer dress, so that's nice!

Okay, commenting again after I've watched the whole thing - I LOVE LOVE LOVE your message at the end. My early years in cosplay I was surrounded by some people who viewed people who cosplayed the same thing as really vicious competition. When I finally got out of that and got into a group of people all cosplaying the same character who supported each other, it was like a completely different hobby. (shoutout to the Agent Carter ladies heyoooooo)

man there was a whole genre of sakizou homestuck cosplay we called it "fancy tier" and there was a couple fanartists that drew it but now i see they were 100% inspired by sakizou
@officialghosty518
@officialghosty518 Жыл бұрын
I designed a fancy tier Jade outfit about a year or two ago, wanting to cosplay Homestuck again after so long, and I had this same realization. I wasn't sure which came first (fancy tier or the popularization of cosplaying Sakizo) but I definitely saw a pattern of fanciful rococo costume design in the community picking up speed.

i had no idea the two were connected, i remember being absolutely obsessed with the fancy tier designs i would see pop up as both art and people cosplaying said art... i've wanted to do something similar and maybe one day i will! "Not everybody likes sewing and not everybody likes making stuff. Especially when you're two strawberries in and youre already regretting it. Or your two yards into a ten yard lattice- it feels like suffering. But when you take the time to put yourself into a cosplay by hook, or by needle or by glue, there is no greater feeling than putting all of that on for the first time and getting to say, "I did that"" I'm sobbing 🎉 proud of you for always looking for new techniques and making just the prettiest of gowns ❤

I made Sakizo's Maschera Noir last year, and even though only 6 people at DragonCon spotted it as a Sakizo design, I still got non-stop compliments on how beautiful it was by everyone I passed. It's BY FAR the most intricate cosplay I've ever done, and probably will ever do. But man, that sense of accomplishment when you get to say "I actually made that!" is well worth the entire year of sewing it took me to make.

That final quote of “I did that” spoke so much to me. I’ve been in a pretty big creative burnout and seeing the joy of creation in this project -and the rest of the channel- is a major source of inspiration and motivation. Obviously there’s still a great way to go to get out of this burnout and art-blocked phase, but I’m so glad I am reminded of my love to create each video you make.

adding onto 6:25 cause im a huge crochet and knit fiber arts nerd lmao: tension has got to be the hardest thing to understand and fully get a hand on when you crochet. like they said, the tighter and more taut you hold your yarn the more close together your stitches will be. use this to your advantage !!!! when making amigurumi, it’s always good to have a slightly tighter tension so that your stitches are closer together and don’t show any stuffing in between them. there’s also a difference between yarning *over* and yarning *under.* yarning under is used a lot in amigurumi as it gives a tighter, more bundled stitch, and will give that solid, not holey fabric that you’re looking for. when making something like a scarf, yarning over would be ideal, as it would give a bouncier, lighter and airy fabric than if you yarn undered

I'd never even considered crochet cosplay, that's so cool! I learned how to crochet when I was kid and picked it back up again a few years ago. All your struggles, mistakes, relief, love, compassion, just so many emotions all flowing on a beautiful piece you dedicated months to make, all the blood sweat and tears poured into all of your cosplays and its so amazing to see! i think that is a big part of what cosplay is about, not just putting some fabric on to be a character but really manifesting your skill into a beautiful art form and showing how anything is possible if you put your mind to it and not everything has to be perfect. A community of people who equally understand the amount of time and work and love gets poured into every single piece of material and honestly that's just so beautiful. I just started watching your channel and can I say - I so admire that you are able to do both cosplay and video creation. Like each one is a huge creative feat, and you're out here creating great work in both spaces, so, well done~!

The fact that she ACTUALLY WORKS HER ASS OFF is just beautiful. She’s not like other who are like “I couldn’t find this so I used the this” she’s literally like “I couldn’t find this SO IM GONNA MAKE IT” like determination in in her blood. No hate to ppl who use alternatives but she just does so much that’s what makes her cosplay spot on and feel like the art/anime dress came out of the screen! Keep up!

This June i am going to my first con ever, and i am going in cosplay. One of the cosplayers that has inspierd me well making this cosplay was you. I was about to quit making my costume, when soddenly the words 'Making Ranni the witch' can up on youtube. i clicked on it and was instently back in to my crafty self. With this in mind , i am proud to say ,the reason i am still cosplaying to this day is because of Sarah Spaceman. Thank you forever

Tbh I don't like strawberries, but my god I can't get enough of your strawberry cosplays! The craftsmanship is unparalleled to any other strawberry clothing I've seen. You've done a wonderful job, I can't wait for the next video! ♥️🍓

Uhm... I'm sorry. You don't have permission to make me cry at the end of a COSPLAY VIDEO. You can't just ambush me with feels like that! I was decorating my grad cap with you playing in the background and now the feels are all over the plaaaace! 😭

The lattice pattern is giving me LIFE! Such good work! And the effort to figure it out on a curved piece? Astronomical commitment ❤

I love EVERYTHING about this, but I think my favourite part is the way the skirts flow together, the movement is amazing!

I tried taking on a sewing project over a year ago (possibly even closer to two years now). It was a simple one - I wanted to make Alice Angel's dress from BATIM. But the patterns I found required adjustments, mock ups, sewing, resewing, weathering... I got overwhelmed. I haven't picked up a sewing needling since. But after stumbling across this channel once again, I was reminded of why I was inspired to try in the first place. I've been in a terrible mental state for the past what feels like forever, but that project I put down gave me something to work towards, even if it was something I wasn't quite ready for. So, I just want to say thank you Sarah, for giving some random 17 year old on the internet the inspiration to try again. If you ever see this comment, you will still never know just how much it means

I had this on on my second monitor at work and was telling my coworkers about cosplay/sakizo/your holmat win and someone said "how does she have time to do that and work" so when I got to the end you said you were doing it full time!! I feel so proud of you and for you!! Congratulations!!!

Man... As someone who makes fursuits it's always so cool to see cosplayers make actual outfits. Faux fur is hell to work with but it's so forgiving that I wouldn't dare work with anything else. I'm always inspired by yall who can do such gorgeous work with non-fur fabrics

Seeing your smile light up as you said “I’m doing this full time now” brought me so much joy, I’ve been a fan of your work since about 40k subs and seeing you explore new cosplays is incredible even though I can’t sew myself. You’re awesome Sarah, congrats

I'm not crying YOU AREEE! But seriously this wasn't even my work and I can feel the frustration through the screen. I hope you are insanely proud of yourself because we are too! PS the message at the end is so relatable.
