Does it record on the camera as well as the SD card? I would assume so bc otherwise why would you plug it in to the camera..

Nice that it can record directly to a sd card. Useful for cameras that have hot shoe mounts but no 3.5mm audio input. omg haven't thought about Saves the Day in a minute.

I like the all-in-one concept. Unfortunately, the audio presence falls off rapidly beyond one foot away from the mic, and it picks up too much room acoustics. It sounds more omni than directional. The bass rolloff is too much. My four year old iPhone 7 records better audio than this. But I do like your guitar playing.

Is it worth the extra $100 for the audio interface? I can afford it but I rather cut down on the $ if it isn't amazingly better? Should I get the at2020 instead?

Amazing SSJ I think an audio interface is worth the money, and if you watch the versus series, of AT2020 vs AT2035, and you can't tell a difference, then go with the AT2020.

Please test the Aputure V-Mic D2 shotgun mic, Aputure A.lav, Aputure V-Mic D1. I own the Aputure D2, Audio-Technica AT-9941, Takstar SGC-598, and I think that Aputure D2 is a hell of a competitor for its $100 price range. Definitely Destroying AT-9941.

IT HAS A RECORDER BUILT IN!?! HOLY! IT HAS LIVE MONITORING?!?!? Where has this been all my life?!?!? Of course, I just bought a Tascam DR-40 so I'm covered now (I have a few other mics) but this is going into my wish list since it CAN be used as an independent recorder.

Yeah. The first thing I saw like this was the Shure VP83, but I couldn't afford it. And then I saw this and was like YES!!!! It is still on the more expensive side, but it's a pretty rad product for vloggers.

For a $200 shotgun mic it sounds pretty bad, a rode shotgun sounds a lot better than that.

The Rode (video pro?) for $100 and the Rode NTG series of mics that range from $200-$400 which are used in professional production no doubt.

Cynikal I haven't tested the video pro. But as far as the NTG series, that's why I recommended using actual fullsize shotgun mics if you're in a studio. I only really recommended this for vloggers.
