The girl was desperate for someone to just give her some reassurance that she will do great in a way that will make her actually believe it which unfortunately was shadow Weaver which she use to control the new queen I’m not saying I agreed with any of glimmers actions there were even times when I wanted to slap her but I mostly just felt Bad for her . I hope with her and catra stuck together they can realise How shadow Weaver got them to make stupid decisions and blame others for it and become better people when they get back to their home. This season actually made Adora my favorite character,her abuse isn't usually validated as abuse bc of catras side story,and it's really frustrating bc Adora,Catra and even Lonnie, Rogelio and Kyle are the victims of Shadows Weaver. Shadows Weaver always made Adora feel responsible for the actions of everybody,so much pressure for a kid. After the whole "it's your fault that my mom died" scene,she managed to not breakdown and tried to be the Hero that everybody needs. Horde Prime is a pretty cool character. I love his personality and Glimmer is just like, "I don't know whether to be afraid or not." And his design is amazing! For me, it's a little unsettling to look at his face for too long (cause characters with more than two eyes can usually move all of them and he doesn't so that's just weird) but that's just another reason to love his character.

the thing that really bothers me is that, eyeballs are larger than the visible eye opening. and his eyeslits are very wide. so.... the only possible way he could have all these eyeslits in these sizes and positions is by them being one giant eyeball with several corresponding eyeholes and pupils. he only has two eyes. the right one just takes up half his skull and only has one out of three eyelids that can be closed. how´s that for unsettling?

I really really loved entrapta in this season. I find it extremely relatable to want to give up on your friends when misunderstandings isolate you. it's a really good reminder that just because friendship is hard doesn't mean it's not worth it. Double Trouble is Best Trickster, full stop. Glimmer's messy behavior is a great representation of the grief-driven flailing and bad decisions that so many of us engage in when truly stricken, but it's so ROUGH to watch. Scorpia's morning routine (and that whole episode, really) is one of my favorite parts of this entire season, second only to Lonnie giving EVERYONE a dose of reality to the face. We need more Mermista. If Scorpia says you're a bad friend you have DONE WRONGLY, ma'am.

Glimmer wasn't at her best this season but that was the point. She's grieving her mother but she never manages to get over it during this season. Despite all her powers Glimmer feels like she was powerless to stop her mother's death. She makes bad decisions because she thinks getting stronger on her own will let her fix everything. When she lashes out at Adora at 16:42 she's not really blaming Adora - she's blaming herself.

I think it's a lot more reasonable to forgive people for being jerks when they're under a lot of stress or going through a particularly tough time. Part of empathy is recognizing that words spoken in those kinds of situations aren't always intended, that sometimes people say stupid things and make stupid decisions because their head isn't in the right place. That's not defending Glimmer, or her comments. That's recognizing that people are fallible, and flawed, and that sometimes being a good friend means forgiving them and loving them in spite of those flaws.

am i the only one who actually likes glimmer? not as in the weird laughing-at-and-ignoring-adoras-abuse thing, but for the way she thinks and *acts*. i feel like most of the princesses mostly just mope around frantically searching for some hidden answers and overthink everything way too much, while glimmer is the one that actually gets stuff moving. i think this can be shown in the detective episode where glimmer kept insisting that they were wasting their time but nobody listened. yet after they discovered DT and realised that the horde already destroyed mermista’s kingdom nobody even THOUGHT to conclude that all that moping had been unnecessary. or when using the heart of etheria: what was everybody else’s plan? just try to use The Power of Friendship(tm) to fight the entirety of horde prime’s army? glimmer was aware that their power wouldn’t be enough and actually tried to DO something about it, even if that plan had a chance of failure. the alternative was doing nothing and hoping for a solution to appear last minute. ofc it all turns out well in the end but thats usually due to random circumstances nobody could have predicted or relied on. glimmer is def not a good friend in this season but understandably so, i just feel like objectively speaking her decisions are not so wack, you know? sometimes they make more sense than adora and bow’s whole “the world is in shambles but we’ve got she-ra and we’re on the good side so we can’t lose, right?” thing lol.

I'll give you one thing. To clarify I'm all down for catradora and is a fan of catra, with the full understanding that she's absolutely shit. But the thing is, Catra and Glimmer are really similar and I don't know if people have noticed it. Catra is selfish and vengeful, and had gone through a very tough and awful upbringing, then doing the same to the people she loves (Adora). Except it isn't manipulation, but physical hurting. She can manage to overthrow the entire rebellion, if only she wasn't too tunnel-visioned. On the other hand, Glimmer can also get tunnel-visioned, except it isn't because of selfishness or revenge. She's tunnel-visioned to end a war she was born into, losing her father in the process. However, she knows how to show care and love unlike Catra. The problem about the two of them is their lack of sufficient communication about important decisions. They both know they're doing things that can hurt people the love and care about, but they would always choose their envisioned end goal regardless. At least, that's for their current version. Here's hoping for actual character development, because I'm not seeing anything significant.

I fucking love Glimmer. I love seeing her become one of the many villains of this season. This is a show that has always shown nuance with its antagonists, and Glimmer becoming one despite the absolute best of intentions, mostly because she was traumatized and thrust into a role that she wasn't ready for (plus allowing herself to be manipulated by bad council, and chafing under Adora's natural tendency to assume she's the one in charge, sorry Adora, you are not blameless in this) is beautiful. You don't normally get to see essentially good people faced with irreconcilable differences. We can see that she's making bad decisions, but frankly we have knowledge she doesn't, and we aren't going through the same things she is. She ain't blameless by a long shot, but she's not stupid, and most importantly, she's not BORING. I'll take a hot mess over blandly supportive in a show any day of the week.

For Glimmer it's always been more low-key, but her natural aggression has been an issue in the past, and she allowed it to get out of hand to disastrous effect. Catra, after 3 (full) seasons of doubling down on her validation and abandonment issues, has finally bottomed out, and has nowhere to go but up. They've both developed... it's just that their development has been a fall from grace. Hopefully now we get to see them finally pick themselves up.

wait im so fucking stupid I was mixing season 5 with season 4 but some of Season 5 was Glimmers fault for not listening to the person who might know a little bit more about the heart than she did. And reuniting Scorpia with her runestone and so they would able to activate the heart of Etheria which leads to almost the end of the world. And Bow calls her out on it by being mad for like 1 or 2 episodes.

What's worse is that the entire thing was nearly pointless. Adora was 5 minutes away from convincing Entrapta to stop the whole portal thing. Heck she might have even gotten through to Catra had she learned the details of Shadowweaver and that they were what triggered Catras psychotic behaviour. She ended up saving Adory, but at an high price because she took the most rushed and morally ambigious action.

Glimmer became my favourite this season. She is insufferable because she is supposed to be, I am still amazed that the show can so accurately portray how stress and grief can lead people to make terrible decisions they would've never even considered otherwise. I am so eagerly waiting for season 5 when they make up.

Bruh, when Glimmer told Adora her best wasn't good enough, I litterally had to pause the episode and take a bunch of deep breaths to stop myself from punching the screen. Like DUDE. GLIMMER. LOWER THAN LOW. PLAYING AT ADORA'S WORST WEAKNESS EVER!? (I say weakness for lack of a better term due to my anger making me unable to think straight). THAT'S SOMETHING THAT NOT EVEN CATRA WOULD DO! Aside from Catra and Bow, Glimmer's the most aware of Adora's hero complex and her constant need to save everyone and be amazing at everything as a means to get others to validate her. So BRA- f*cking-VO Glimmer. Way to f*ck her mental health up even more!

Adora is such an awesome protagonist AND character, by the way! I mean, if we all feel for her there, we know she's well written. We understand her and all the shit she's going through, and why she is the way she is and acts the way she acts. She's not just a lawful girlscout character, she is complicated, has A LOT OF BAGGAGE and she's doing her best and more all by herself. That's just awesome and I love her. Just wanted to add that. The thing is she isn't exactly wrong, she just phrased it in THE worst way possible. "Adora, your trying your best, but were still losing. We're all trying our best but my mom is still dead. My dad is dead. How many times has Bow nearly been killed? Me? You? Adora, we were just a hair away from everyone and everything we care about ceasing to exist. Snap. Like that. We keep getting out by the skin of our teeth and sooner or later that's not going to be enough. Something needs to change, we need to do SOMETHING more than we are now, or the next crisis will be our last one." Not "Your best isn't good enough!" But you can't have them actually maturely discuss shit because how else can the band break up to have a suspenseful season finale? Same with Adora storming off in a huff and not following up after saying "I never hated you!" and elaborating what Catra means to her and WHY so Catra will actually believe it and feel valued rather than 1 one sentence counter and storming away angrily. But you know, can't have them settle things in a semi mature manner. How else can they stall their reveal of their feelings for each other until the suspenseful season finale?

Thank you for all the avatar references!! It really helps people see how catra is sorta following zukos path but breaking down like azula. Catra needed DT to out her for obviouse reasons, so she could realize the same way zuko did that shes on the wrong side. Scorpia is basically Iroh to catra, she doesnt realize how much she really needed her until she was gone. Now the problem for catra switching sides is gonna be complicated for the reason of horde prime and how things are about to mbv massively change AND because she pushed adora away so hard that I'm not sure there is a going back for them. Also shadow weaver and Michah being at the palace has it's own issues alone let alone when catra sees shadow weaver... yeah. (Though only glimmer forgave her, not adora or anyone else). Maybe michah can be a good dad to glimmer AND catra? So catras going to go through zukos arc except things with adora wont be as easy as things with aang due to history. But really it might not play that way at all cause we dont know if the horse is going to technically take over brightmoon or if it's just going to let them kinda stay the same except listen to them (essentially glimmer becoming the new hordak who actually won and her and everyone else are trying to secretly fight while still looking obediant.) So not sure which way they are going with the next season but we shall see. But at least they learned from avatar!! Great video! Cant wait for the next one!
