Sardis, a city that once thrived as the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Lydia. Today, it's a treasure trove of ruins that give us a glimpse into the past.
One of the most impressive structures in Sardis is the Temple of Artemis, one of the largest Ionic temples ever built. It was constructed in the 4th century BCE and was a center of worship for the goddess of hunting and the moon.
Another notable site is the gymnasium, which was used for physical training and education. It was an important part of daily life in ancient Greece and was even used as a gathering place for philosophical debates.
Sardis also had a thriving Jewish community, and the remains of their synagogue can still be seen today. It's a testament to the diversity of the city and the cultural exchange that took place there.
The acropolis of Sardis was a fortified citadel that served as the political and cultural center of the city. It was built on a high plateau and was surrounded by walls that were over 3 kilometers long.
The Temple of Cybele, the goddess of fertility and nature, was another important site in Sardis. It was constructed in the 3rd century BCE and was later converted into a church during the Byzantine period.
The Byzantine period also saw the construction of a market district that contained shops and public spaces. It's a reminder of the economic importance of Sardis and its role as a trading hub.
Finally, Sardis was situated along the banks of the Pactolus River, which was famous for its gold deposits. It's said that the legendary King Midas washed his hands in its waters and turned everything he touched to gold.
Sardis may be a city of ruins today, but it's a testament to the rich history and cultural heritage of the ancient world. It's a reminder of how far we've come and how much we owe to those who came before us.

Очень странно 🤔 . Среди узбеков много сардов. На тюркском языке будет сарт. Очень странно.
