That's why I always book AC coach during winters, maja aajata hai andar baith k bahar single digit temperature hone k bad bhi 😂 it's worth paying for it just like we pay for AC in summers, jisne bhi winters me purane ICF Sleeper coaches me journey kiya hai jiske windows bhi sahi se lock na hote ho vo janta hai importance of a heated train 😂

In which trains did you travel ? My personal experience is quite the opposite . Passengers tremble wih cold in winters and for this only Rlys supply blankets. Passengers repeatedly approach and literally beg the AC staff to increase the temperature May be u travelled in Rajdhanis or Maharaja specials !

@@narayanathota4318 which zone you travelled in ? I mostly move arround in Trains of ER zone, and no I am not talking about Rajdhani In express trains it is written on a poster inside coach that temperature during summers will be kept arround 24°C and in Winters about 21°C

All ACs are by definition of thermodynamics a heat pump. They dont cool anything, they just transfer heat from one part to another.The normal ACs pump the heat from room to the outside, so the room gets cold. Fridges pump the heat from inside of the fridge to the room, so the inside of the fridge gets cold. Bi directional ACs or what we call hot and cold ACs in India can switch the direction, so u can either pump the heat from room to outside or pump the heat from outside to the room. This method is 3-4 times more energy efficient than normal resistive heating.

I dont know about 50-60 yr old system but around 15-20 years ago there used to be a call boy whose work was to go to the building where all loco pilots used to stay and inform them about their next duty
