Power corrupting is one of the easiest motivations to buy, pretty much anyone no matter the backstory would act similarly when they've achieved so much power. @markbunst59612 жыл бұрын
@@NathanFromTheCommentsSection he has a tendency to latch onto small things he doesn't like and let that completely override his opinion. Take for example the cannons in Kung Fu Panda 2, its about them representing the end of Kung Fu a d an entire way of life in China. He just latches onto "they can just move out of the way" and doesn't think about how cannons revolutionize how wars are fought when you can just blow away an army of masters who have trained their entire lives.
@NathanFromTheCommentsSection2 жыл бұрын
@@markbunst5961 he really does, yeah. That tendency can be pretty funny in his YMS videos when he rails of movies for inconsistencies but it does make him miss the point of their purpose in the narrative at a larger scale. To be fair, the movie does kind of throw out that "it's the end of Kung Fu" phrase without fully explaining it. My kid brain upon first watching the movie was just like "uh, cannons won't stop you from practicing martial arts dummies", but the purpose of that reaction means that Kung Fu, their method of defending their lives and their loved ones, is now invalidated by the destruction these weapons can cause. That's blatantly obvious in real life as well; the advent of gunpowder and firearms in Japan effectively brought an end to the samurai and their traditional methods of combat.

Cannons on a battlefield are fired from long distances that the targets can't even see. In KFP2, the characters are aware of what the cannon does, but they think they can just block or deflect the hit somehow. Dodging is clearly a part of martial arts, something all these masters should be thinking about all the time, but they only realize it at the very end...
@MalzraAirwynn2 жыл бұрын
@@oneshot8109 The two main instances of this really are at the start, where the cannon is new and they don't know what to expect. I don't really recall any other scenes in the movie of characters just standing around waiting for cannons to go off.

The scene where Po tried to corner Shen and ask about his parents, the creators obviously tried to put them on a narrow platform so that Po would have no other choice than to block the cannon with his wok. There's a whole bit during the final battle where Po moves around too fast for the henchmen to aim the cannon at him. That was all they had to do the whole time. Why is this so controversial? In all three movies, she's by far the genuinely kindest and sweetest out of all of the central characters; constantly apologizing to Po and her friends if and when she does something wrong, genuinely sympathizing with other characters including Po, showing genuine concern for Po even before he's the dragon warrior, etc. I actually think this is a great subversion of how snakes are typically portrayed in films in general, where snakes are usually portrayed in an extremely negative light. I can understand her not having as much development as Tigress, Po, Shifu, Oogway, and to a lesser extent Crane, but I genuinely enjoyed her character nonetheless.

Second, the movie actually *does* have a lot more to offer than just the cute factor - it's primarily about prejudice and fear and how people can overcome it, and also, it's not even about Toothless and the other dragons as much as it's about the *relationship* that they form with the humans

1:43:02 pattinson said in an interview that he’s mapped in his head where his batman could go if sequels are made and that the prospect of it makes him excited…not sure where Adam heard otherwise.
@rsfilmdiscussionchannel41682 жыл бұрын
I was gonna leave a comment about that. Adum basically stated a rumour as a fact, not to mention I think he used the word headline. I did research and couldn’t find an article that talked about that at all. So most likely it’s just a rumour he heard online and just used the wrong language. Maybe he believes that rumour but one word change would have been more truthful. Not to mention, it is just a rumour at this point, sharing it probably isn’t a good idea. If that came out as a legitimate, backed with quotes, official newspiece, then yeah mention it. But if it’s a rumour then either don’t bring it up or just preface by saying “this isn’t confirmed” or “I heard a rumour”
@rsfilmdiscussionchannel41682 жыл бұрын
That’s more noteworthy to me than his nonsensical criticisms of movies. Someone might take that as a fact and not do any research, or even get sucked into a rumour and speculation hole without a regard for genuine facts.

Alex doesn’t make an effort to outright dislike things, he just goes with it and develops his opinion naturally. Adum is just very specific with what he likes and dislikes so he’s extremely close-minded. Ralph is somewhere in the middle, but when a filmmaker attempts something that’s similar to what he likes he falls into the same problem as Adum. I guarantee if Scorsese made the same exact Joker movie that Todd Phillips did, he would have loved it

@@RickRaptor105 if he didn’t like 1 he won’t like 2 or 3. But yah it’s ridiculous how he boils it down to “cute dog” as if thats all it is. There’s way to it with Hiccup & his dead, the burden of legacy, expectations & identity. Belonging & purpose. As far as the lost parent trope, like yah it’s a trope. Big whoop. It’s all about execution & what you do with it. A story can have surprising or familiar beats, but it’s all about how you use them. A movie being shocking and full of twists just to have twists doesn’t make it good. A movie having tropes doesn’t make it bad. I hate how simple and dismissive he is. Love ya Adum, but I don’t follow your logic about cannons and moving out of the way…. Aren’t cannons super dangerous weapons that were used for centuries? And the movie makes a point to show that cannons are most effective when used against crowds and with the element of surprise. Plus that “it will part you” line is great. Adum can feel however he likes, that’s just my two cents.

I need to rewatch it sometime. Also I was a chubby kid that didn't want to move that much, so the character of Po always resonated with me.
