Queer is set in 1950s Mexico City but was shot almost entirely at Cinecittà studios in Rome, the same ones used for Gangs of New York.
@danieltrevinoc11 күн бұрын
Feels like a right choice, it would've been hard to capture 50s CDMX in this decade, which is why Cuarón shot on a set for Roma. Also, the establishing shots helped to the dreamlike quality of the film.

Absolutely. Typically, you can find any number of great indie albums per year if you know where to look - but the fact that so many small bands and indie artists were killing it AND most of the suff that was popular was just so damn good... it really leaves 2024 as one for the fuckin books

15:43 To be fair the movie mostly focused on 70s Trump, which if you watch interviews doesn't even seem like the same person. He even uses the word "facetious" in one which is way above current day Trump (or his supporters) reading level 😂

Last film that made me cry: An Elephant Sitting Still. Just rewatched it. So heart-wrenchingly beautiful. Audiences participating with the experience is different from people talking and being on their phones. Legendary characters have cycled through tons of voice actors over time so I'm sure if they wanted to they could find an accurate voice

I love that film so much, even if it was also a task to watch. So ambitious and intense as a story. It's a shame it would be the very last the director would ever make.

Lost in Translation, one of my favorites. Ending is an homage to In the Mood for Love, whispering secrets, though directly whispered to her.

Adam missed the point of the ending. The reason they included some of the sound of what he said is because it’s supposed to be “lost in translation”. It’s more unique than him just giving her a note because that doesn’t fit with the “lost in translation” theme as well. It’s not a cop out, it fits with the feeling of longing. There were two times people tried enhancing the audio to figure out what he said. One was “I have to be leaving now but don’t let that come between us” and the other was “go tell that man the truth”. I swear I saw an interview with Bill Murray where he said that it was the former but I can’t find it.

If you don't know it's basically people just shooting whatever they feel without a plan and cutting it together as a film. I fell down the rabbit hole of directors Donald G Jackson and Scott Shaw. They make nothing good and most have actors like Joe Estevez. But it's interesting seeing what people consider Art. Where the RollerGator fans at?
