Mom of 2 / KZbinr / Artist here… this hit me hard. I am constantly struggling with finding balance and not sacrificing sleep and mental health for the sake of business ❤ it gets easier as kids get older I promise but the dream of 40 hour “normal” workweek sadly is not compatible with kids. Big hugs

This was very therapeutic for me, Sarica. Nothing equals a mother's love and sacrifice and I would not be where I am now if not for all the things that my mom had to give up when she had me at a young age. You made me appreciate her more. ❤ I completely agree with your thoughts about social media as well. I quit Facebook completely and for my mental health, I have also decided to delete all of my Instagram following. I thought that I would lose a lot of engagement from it, but do trust that the people who genuinely support and love you will stick around. Quitting the two platforms surprisingly gave more 'mindful' hours back into my life. I look forward to seeing more therapeutic art content in the future! 😇

I'm on the other end of this journey: my youngest just left for college and I'm rebuilding my freelance business. It was well worth the years off!😊. If you find yourself in need of the income, digital assistants can be a fairly low-cost alternative to child care. I'm not a DA, but I'm sure one of your other followers could point you in the right direction if that interests you. I loved this video!

HI Rebecca! I'm very close to that :-) My son is going to finish high school this June. I've stopped all art for 10 plus years! I had worked full time corporate so I did the whole juggle thing. I missed art and when I did go back to it, I was really really rusty (actually horrible-hah LOL). I'm also looking into freelance/contract illustration work, might do graphic design if I can't land a proper client. Best wishes and luck to you and your business

the light on that coffee maker! 👌🏻 thank you so much for continuing to share in whatever capacity works for you. simultaneously gaining all the work that comes with another kiddo, & loosing time for what you love is super hard, even when it’s so worth it. i hope you continue to find joy in your art, i know i certainly do. 🙏🏻💜

Another mom here, with encouragement for you. Congrats on your sweet baby. I know the choices you've made have been hard and everyone's situations are different. I'm on the other side of the 'mom-equation' with two teens and a 9yo - hang in there. The feeling of doing nothing but mothering will fade in a few years. One day you are knee deep in sippy cups and building blocks; and the next day you are teaching them to drive. The time you desire to have to focus on your career will come back to you, and you will be rewarded with children who had a fully engaged mother during their youth (a wonderful thing). Your paintings are beautiful - good work.

I'm so glad you are doing what you can with your art and mental health, and recognizing you need a shift somewhere just to keep your head above water. Circumstances change, we change, and our environment will change, too. My Mom is a single Mom of two and she had to really shift things around to care for us and her ailing parents and full time job. You're not alone in trying to navigate a world of unknowns, I hope you know that

Thank you for this insightful discussion. You are leading by example. Saying « no » is a skill I learned later than I wished. The way I now see it (my ah-ha moment with your video): saying « no » to certain things or people is actually saying « yes » to ourselves or what matters more; this shift in perspective is helping me. As you evolve and your channel evolves, your audience will as well. Thank you!

It is absolutely understandable that you want to prioritise the health and happiness of your children instead of making lots of content ! Your true community will stay until the day you decide to close your channel or change platform. I adore your videos and that no matter how often you post them ! Keep doing what you want and love and we'll be more than happy to watch what you create 😊

Thank you for sharing your thoughts Sarica, I resonated with just about everything you said. I had to take a step back from Instagram months ago and just be present with my kiddos. I miss painting and I’m starting to feel like I can find that balance again to create and post, but Instagram has made it so hard. I also understand what you said about moving in a different direction, I’m at a cross roads with that too. I love the direction you’re going in though and I appreciate you sharing your beautiful art. Much success to you, and blessing to you and you family!

Missed seeing your videos, but life has it's seasons. My daughters are all adults now, time went so fast. Enjoy your children, get your sleep, be creative when you can. You have such peaceful videos, having peace in your day is such a needed daily vitamin. I am with you on your choices, you & your children come first. Until next time.

I stumbled across this video randomly, but so glad I did. I am a recently published author and my first child was born a few months after my novel’s debut. I have loved being a stay at home mother but sacrificing creative time to care for him has been difficult. I’m trying to remind myself that it’s just a season of life, and not forever. Thank you for sharing your experience with honesty.

Sarica don't worry about missing out on anything, especially social media! Spend all the time you have on your passions and your family, and share those passions with them. It will be time well spent. They will grow up so fast and you only get one ride on that roller coaster. Enjoy it as much as you can, and also try not to spend so much time behind the camera taking pictures. Your favorite pictures will be in your head because you were present in the moment. Pictures fade, our memories don't. I've got thousands of pictures of my kids, and I don't know what to do with them all! The day will come (all too soon, you'll see) when you will have plenty of time on your hands for everything and everyone else. In just a few short years they will want to be with their friends more than you. My son and daughter are in their early twenties and I barely get to talk with them, much less see them! My daughter lives here, but she just whisks in and out like a micro-burst! "Gotta go mom love you" is about all I get since she started driving 5 years ago. They only reach out when they need me, and I'm ok with that, because if I don't hear from them it means they're happy and not broke LOL. I wish I would have played with them more often, sang more songs, given them longer baths, spent less time cleaning, etc. It breaks my heart to remember dropping them off at daycare for work. Yes, money is important for living expenses, but your kids won't remember how much stuff you bought them, they'll remember all the time you spent with them. Work less and live more!

I remember that one video where we heard Jayden's soft murmurs, now we got to hear Kira's soft cries. Mothers are truly amazing, they are children's first love and first best friend. Thank you for being so personal on this video, Sarica. I totally feel you. I had to stop my art business too when I had my first born 3yrs ago. We’re also planning for our second one and I am anticipating this kind of sacrifices too. Thank you for being courageous in sharing this. I know it’s not easy and it’s such a big sacrifice especially when you love what you do. But things will turn out well soon. Kids will grow fast and next thing you know, you have all the time in the world. Looking forward to your paint videos. I love watching you paint.

About shifting journaling to art making... Its definitely your choice what you are gonna do Sarica. I know its difficult to show what you write in your journal because yk? Its personal. I am not forcing you or telling you to do it but I am just adding a vid idea for you. Like the videos you made before..about art journaling .... (my fav vids actually) Can you ever make more of those? :) Its ok to not show your secret thoughts but just the art journaling! 😀 I love it a lottt ❤Telling you again that its just a vid idea and it depends on the creator whether she do it or not! 😉 (P.s : Sorry if its wrong English..still learning haha!) Happy art making Sarica! 🎨🖼 ✏ 📓

Thank you so much for making this video. I really enjoyed it so much. I have always been a big fan and you were the person that inspired me when I first started journaling. As a watercolour artist I really understand how you feel. I love both my painting and my journaling but am at a different stage in my life. My children are older so I can spend time now doing all the things I love. Like you I was a stay at home mum during those early years. Your time will come. Art will always be a part of our lives!

I love these making art videos and painting videos! Thank youuu. I also love that you are a slow painter... it is very calming! I am glad that you went on the path where you prioritized the important things to keep in your life than burning yoursrlf out just to juggle all. Part of loving really is choosing and letting go. And you won, by doing this even if you seemingly lost other things. Keep safe Sarica! Thank you for your contents! 😍😁

I love that you're pouring your heart into your art making and the message resonates so much with me since I am a mother too and had to sacrifice so much for them. I also find IG kind of toxic nowadays due to the algorithm and IG acting almost like a substitute of tiktok. Nonetheless you're young and I am sure you'll be able to bounce back.

Thank you for your honesty about this topic... it felt so relatable - I am a mum of 17months old boy and I have been struggling to face these hard choices lately.. without art, I just turn into a resentful monster, without a job, I just feel so.. dependent? Worth less? With a job - what precious moment am I gonna miss? And when can I have my hair cut? Like.. how is one supposed to manage it all? So thank you, it was inspiring. I just wish you and your little family luck and joy and happiness!!

That was lovely to watch Sarica 😊 I loved hearing about your life now as a mum and a creator. I felt like I was nodding my head the whole time saying 'yes, exactly!' this year marks the start of my next chapter with both of my daughter's in full time school now and it is so nice suddenly having all this time to work on the projects I've been yearning to put more time into. But I also for the last 8 years felt torn between being there enough for my children but wanting to pursue my passion too. Well done on the balancing act that a working mother has to do, it sounds like you have got it worked out and as much as it must be hard to keep your shop shut wishing you all the best of living in the moment with your precious children - it does go so fast! Will always watch your videos, looking forward to more art and relaxing chats from you. Congrats on your new born too! Lots of love from Torryn (Australia) X

Hi Sarica. I have been a long-time follower of you and I have always enjoy your art! However, I couldn't focus on your art today because I can hear your frustration, tiredness, and disappointment in your voice as you spoke about your current situation with your kids, closing your shop, and not making journal videos anymore. First of all, we love you and we are so proud of you! You are not a failure, and you should not feel disappointed in the change in direction of your channel. Also, parenthood is something to be proud of and enjoy! I hope to have kids in the next two years, and I look forward to it. All of my friends have kids now and I'm low-key jealous. Yes, there's a lot to being a parent and sometimes you probably wonder why you got yourself into this. But please enjoy parenthood to your fullest, and if you need to scale back on KZbin, your shop or other things, don't apologize for it! If I have to choose between my business or my kids, I would also choose my kids without hesitation. Be happy, and know that I and many other people will always here to support you and cheer you on!

I'm always looking forward to new posts of yours, even if they are short or come in irregular intervals - I don't care :) It's actually comforting to not be bombarded with too much content when I am inconsistent with my journaling and art projects myself (probably far more than you!).
