Thank you so much! Just adopted a 7 weeks old Beagle a week ago and i must say Beagle is so clever! My baby already pee and poo above her potty pad only after 2 times of correction. She also on learning "leave it", "stay" and "sit" now. I also walk her with leash and she already comfortable to potty outside too (only once a day because her vaccination isn't complete). I really love her, Beagle has a cheerful and bright personality even sometimes she's naughty as hell, she still incredibly cute.

My brother has a Beagle. And is that what you said. On the walk I never unlisch dog, because when follow sense, dog start be crazzy. I have only once or two times when he went under control. But it was funny because he found bird ;). Now Biszkopt (name of the dog) has 3 years and now he can hang around witout lisch. ANd onec I took a dog to my friends and he allways be near me and listen all my command. Only lisch in the house was worring for me. But now when he was in house, dog has his own places, and don't destroy furnitures ;)

About The leash, if your dog is playing around with dogs(in a safe area), don’t just make it come to you and take it in a leash every time, give it a reward(like let it keep playing some more, or a treat, or some praise). If you don’t, you will be boring and The dog won’t be so likely to come to you JUST to be taken in a leash. But hey, great video and all! (:
@SaroDogTraining
@SaroDogTraining 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you and great question. If your beagle is playing and you call it to come there is a chance that he/she may not come which in turn teaches your beagle to learn not to come. The play session is way higher reward than anything at that moment. It is better and safer not to risk training unwanted behaviour and just leash when the game stops. Also, the reward for a great walking etiquette could be the playing with the dogs at the park. Hope that made sense and helps.

My beagle is 2. He’s so sweet around my md my other dog and my mom... and up until a couple months ago he was sooooo nice and loving to everyone- but randomly he started randomly snapping and going crazy and he’s so strong... idk what to do. I went from letting him say hi to dog and person alike to not trusting him around other people... idk what todo. I can touch him anywhere around his body and he’s fine, but sometimes randomly letting someone pet him he just quickly snaps
@SaroDogTraining

He has become sensetive for some reason. Maybe you did something that jas caused it to become sensetive. Do you off leash your beagle often? Try to keep your beagle on leash indoors and outdoors for the nezt month. Also don't let people or dogs approach it since it is sensetive. You don't want it to practice that behaviour for a month.

I accidentally trained my female beagle, Gracie, to walk off leash. Walked with her on a leash as a puppy, and then, when she was old enough, in a fenced park, I would play with her off leash. Did this for years. Never with the intent of walking her off leash. Then one day, when she was 8 or 9, I just let her off leash for walks, and she, for the most part, she stays next to me. If I formally did this training, I can't imagine how good she would be off leash.

Saro, thank you very much for the videos, I just adopted a pure Beagle, he is 1 year old and even if he have knows few basic commands and do his necessities out of the house, I am more concerned about his super high sense of awareness, he is alert all the time and barks a lot...like he is on a mission to be alert and protect the home...I would like him to be more relaxed and chill, how can I do that knowing I adopted this boy when he is a 1 year old boy? I have this boy for only 2 days...so hopefully after he being in the shelter for 3 weeks and now in this new environment he would relax as well.... thanks

I was so scared that was thinking to return the boy, but that would break my heart and his heart and I think he needs a chance and I really love dogs so he will have a great home here....

I took her with me no way was I leaving her. Is there a way to retrain her to constantly go outside? Also how do I train her not to bark so much. She barks at everything. I play with a red pointer with her is this ok or does this make them nervous. Thank you so much for the videos they have helped a lot I just had a different circumstance if you can help that would be great.

My question is, is your dog off leash when she is behaving badly? If it is off leash and she is behaving that way, it means that she is not ready to be off leashed. You need to work on her on leash for sometime and then if she is ready, off leash her. If you learn to keep her on leash and have her on leash, she won't behave that way. My present girl had little interest in learning tricks, but will lay down, stop and answer a call unfailingly. Still having a treat in my hand for when she is finished piddles and potties is expected.

I have never actually used a leash on my Beagle, in large closed parks that is. The first time I took her out, she was about 10 weeks old. She does go around sniffing or runs to another dog to play, but eventually she always comes back especially when she sees that I'm quiet far away so I never worry. But I do recommend using a leash whenever you can't be within closed areas

I just got a rescue beagle (foster to adopt) he’s 1-2yrs old. With consistent training do you think it’s possible to be able to off leash him eventually and have him well trained? Or have I missed that important puppy training time. He’s very stubborn, nose to the ground and leash frustrated when he sees other dogs (barking/howls/lunges). I know they can be harder to train so I’m a bit worried about his age and not having had early training.
@SaroDogTraining
@SaroDogTraining 7 күн бұрын
First off, I want to say that you're absolutely capable of developing the relationship and behavior you want with your dog, but it’s important to keep expectations realistic, especially when working with a rescue. When adopting a dog, it might take a bit more time, patience, and effort to see progress compared to other situations. While many dogs can show great results after a year of training, with rescues, the journey might look a little different. Another thing to consider is your beagle’s personality. Some dogs, due to their characteristics and temperament, may not be suited for off-leash walks-especially if they have strong instincts to explore or hunt. Also, keep in mind that many rescue dogs come with heightened levels of stress and anxiety, feeling a bit lost or confused from their past experiences. A huge part of their progress depends on how you help them navigate those emotions. With your patience and care, you can certainly help reduce your dog’s anxiety, but it's important to be gentle with yourself in the process, too. If you ever feel stuck or need some extra guidance, I’d love to help. You can set up a free video call with me where we can chat about your goals, and I can provide some realistic and judgment-free advice! Here's the link to book a call: sarodogtraining.com/. Looking forward to helping you and your pup!

First of all, you must need build a relationship based on trust between you and your dog. For the first months you can train the dog with a long leash, so they will learn the come back command. I disagree to keep the dog leashed all the time for the first year as this could be very frustrating. This could work, for sure, but in my opinion you must make your dog understand that you are the center of the universe for him, so he will follow you no matter what. I had an experience with my dog, a beagle as well. She was scared of the water, but when I jumped into a river she directly followed me, just thanks to our close relationship. I have unleashed her since she was a puppy, but first I trained her the basics and the most important the come back command. Now I use the leash just because of the country reglementations which says that is illegal to have your dog unleashed in public places. She has a long leash( 8 m ) and I almost never use the stop button as I believe in my dog and I am totally relaxed during the walks so I transmit that to her as well.

Is there a way to train a Beagle to only bark when they can sense someone or something unknown outside? So I won't have to deal with a Beagle doing its loud bark just whenever? Because if it wasn't for their ear-splitting bark, I would SO get a Beagle.

Hi, i have a beagle girl, Julie. She is a fantastic girl, but with her own character and temperment. Lovely and kind buy very stubborn. Sometimes she pretends that she can heat us with my husband but mostly it is at the evening and night. She is going to be turning 5 years old in august. I can co fidently can say that i can off leash her now and she is coming back to us when called. Although, sometimes i have to shout out several times as she is stubborn and following her nose wherever she wants. She knows her commands but sometimes she is stubborn and can do them but it is difficult as she is truying to say to me, i will do it when you will ask me but not always and when i am in the mood for it. Your videos are helping me but not every single beagle is the same and some of training that can help some beagle parents wont work always for others and needs specific and different straregy, but thank you anyways

You are very welcome. I know for fact that most beagle (dog) owners tend to feel that their dog is special and different than others. Don't get me wrong, they are all unique individuals but dogs have a limited or the same anatomy. You can implement a proven system to them and get great results. As long as you implement the same, proven method of dog training instead of trying various methods temporarily as testing the method and look for another method that may work. That is when a dog owner invest time and energy in finding and testing a method rather than executing a proven method. My dog training method has been proven to be effective with great results as long as you invest in it and not just try it to see if it works.

Hi there. I got interested on looking for how to train your beagle. You see I have a 9months girl beagle and she is really non stop. We where leaving in what you call country side in other country. We were in the Philippines and each night my partner is letting our 2 dogs run anywhere since there are no vehicles that time. However each time that we call on for our beagle puppy instead of coming to us she is just running away like as if thinking were playing with her. I just do not know what to do so I search on how to train them. But what do you think is our best option to start since she is really playful and do not follow everything me and my partner says? Please help. Thank you.

My Beagle was dumped near where I live in the country about 2 years ago. He was very shy and nobody could catch him. Finally he dug under my fence to get in the yard with my Collie and Ibizan Hound. He was afraid of loud noises and sudden movements and had a scar where it looked like he had been kicked. But he was glossy and in good weight. He was almost a year old. He wouldn’t come near us but after a month he was coming in the house thru the dog door and letting us feed and pet him. He gets along with the cats. As he gets more confidence he suddenly is able to do things he couldn’t do before. Last year he couldn’t walk on a leash and now he can. He can sit when asked, and come inside when called. My roommate is a Collie person and says she never thought she would love a Beagle. My other dogs were ten years old and he gave them a new interest in life. I usually got my dogs at seven or eight weeks of age and they learned so fast. What should I know about training a 3 year old Beagle.

Subbed - so glad I found your channel; I reserved my Beagle puppy just yesterday, and much as I'm into dog training videos in general, I was thinking, "Uh-oh, NO ONE seems to have a Beagle ..." You know, all these trainers with Malinois, Border Collies, Dutch Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Labradors the works... No Beagles! Thankfully, you've embraced the breed as an owner AND a trainer. Thank you! I'll be binging your vids :-) Got 11 weeks left to prepare myself for the arrival of a baby Beagle.

Think of s two year old kid and she was like that up until she passed at 17 She could be off her leash and follow commands But if there was something on th counters she would pull/push the dinning room chairs over to climb on the counters Or if the dishwasher wasn’t latched she would open the door pull out the bottom tray and pull the dishes out and lay them on the floor and lick them and she was a wonderful mouser she catch more mice than the cat I love my beagles

I recently adopted a beagle from the local humane society. OMG this dog has had ZERO training in anything. They're guessing he's about 1 1/2 years old. He's so high strung. Can't control him even ON a leash. Jumps not stop. Pulls and tugs the leash NON-STOP, and if I try to give him a treat or even his morning meal, he is practically snatching it out of my hand and sometimes getting my hand in the process. He isn't trying to bite me, but it happens because he snatches whatever I'm giving him so quickly. He's the most lovable dog I've ever seen, but he's so uncontrollable my other dogs look at him like "dude,,,you're gonna get in trouble if you don't stop it". I don't know what to do with him.
