I just harvested a Malawi pumpkin at 15kg. I saved 563 seeds from that pumpkin. Just think of this fact: it grew from ONE seed and it spawned 563 seeds. I sowed 10 foot long beans; all ten sprouted. We ate beans and I harvested 850+ seeds from those ten stalks. My one friend counted his corn seeds grown in his back yard and it yielded about 60'000 seeds. That is nature in your back yard! Go for it! Thank you for this video and for you working tirelessly to promote even just one plant on your kitchen window sill. I am living in Sandton, South Africa.

I started saving seeds from my school days, because we had a chapter in our hindi textbook, where a granny keeps throwing seeds from the train window, when asked what was she trying to do... she says, I have sowed the flower seeds everywhere. Now when I return after few months, these track sides will be full of beautiful flowers and bees... That was the most beautiful lesson I ever learnt. So happy to see this video... :D

Apart from the sinister aspects of this, when you save your own seed, you know it is fresh (so will germinate much more reliably) and is also adapted to your little microclimate. Plus it's very satisfying and fun to do.

Pure wisdom. Pure inspiration. Insight & encouragement from one of the wisest women on our planet. Modern humans are destroying the Earth's ecosystems at an accelerating pace, either doing it directly themselves or indirectly as others do it for them. The beginning of the path toward sustainable living & planetary stewardship needs to begin with the basics: food, water, shelter and energy. Of these, food is the first great opportunity to learn about the truth of Nature & the plant kingdom: from one food plant comes an abundance of healthy, natural food & a windfall of additional seeds. Out of one, many...

Regenerative Gardening with Farmer Rishi You make ALL the sense! Thank you! My country started with seeds... agriculture, the kibbutz. We grew food in the desert and we created the water drip system, developed ways to save and clean toxic water which is now helping millions in distress, people going through natural disasters around the world. It all started with a seed! Do check KZbin if you are not familiar with Israeli Water Technology and our agriculture as well.
