Very nice. I thought I was going to have a panic attack when you use Vallejo Black under the rim of the beret. I was picturing myself trying that and getting a bit of a shaky hand just in time to swipe a nice black stripe across the beret's top... lol Good job...it looks beautiful!

I spent a decade in the Sahara. 2005-2015. I was a pastoralist/guide until events surrounding The Libyan Civil War became The Malian Civil War and in 2016 it became untenable to live there. I wore: long cotton trousers, a cotton vest, cotton T-Shirt and long sleeved cotton shirt and of course turban. I used factor 50 (which SAS & LRDG did not have) on my hands and feet, as I was wearing Merrill sandals. I was as white skinned when I left the UK (Scottish) as the day I arrived back in Glasgow. A college friend who picked me up asked if I had really been in the Sahara. It does get cold at night during the cold season and I would normally wear a fleece if below 20'C. Clothed such as this improves your chances against dehydration and sunburn.

Oh wow that's so interesting!! I guess you just assume you'd wear a shirt and shorts due to the heat without realising that you'll burn to a crisp.
