OK, have now tested Integral. The signal path is 100% clean/pristine and grit free. A side-switch sets whether it is instrument level or line level, and there is a letter "C" that appears on the display if the wet signal is clipping. Apart from the LINE/INST switch, level must be controlled by the source device (guitar, or previous pedal). The USB port is recessed rather deeply so chubbier USB thumb drives might not fit into this opening in the chassis. My low-profile USB thumb drive really sinks in there and is difficult to remove. Just be aware of that. I have a USB extension cable that I'm using until I get all the IRs I want on my USB thumby, and can just leave it in there. It loads quad (for "true stereo") or stereo .wav files. It also loads stereo .aif files. I haven't tried quad aifs. It is possible that 48K wavs will load more quickly, but I haven't tested this, yet. My unit occasionally doesn't boot up properly (screen remans dark, and unit doesn't respond normally). If I restart (remove & re-attach power) it starts normally. Tasty Chip's description of "High Quality Convolution" is accurate. The sound quality is excellent. Of course, that depends on the quality of the impulse response. The dedicated high-pass, and the 4-band fully parametric EQ give you massive tone shaping power to clean up a muddy reverb, or adjust overly bright reverbs. I'm really happy with the unit. I'm going to learn a bunch about reverb, convolution, and sound design in general.

Just ordered one of these. So excited. I have a reverb IR I made in a daw that just impossible to recreate with real pedals. This just pedals just made my dreams a reality.

Cool stuff, nice demo! Would seriously consider buying this if it weren't for the lack of midi.

Yeah, lack of MIDI is the one thing that was a miss on this pedal. Just MIDI CC for switching between saved settings would be sufficient.

Tasty Chips is planning to add USB MIDI to the next firmware update. I think this means you'd have the USB storage and USB MIDI both connected to a hub (probably a powered hub).

Nice to see this pedal get at least a little bit of attention -- its an awesome concept and one of my favorite reverb pedals. A shame that it has gotten very little attention since release.

Integral has a much more robust feature-set than the Poly Verbs in most respects (except Integral's lack of MIDI or remote preset selection). Integral has two footswitches to enable/bypass the two convolution engines, each of which can have its own IR loaded. An expression pedal can X-fade between them. It maybe be possible that future firmware could allow stepping through presets with the A/B footswitches-- but that's not currently the case as of v3 firmware (early 2024). I'm just so delighted to have ANY of the most glorious reverbs I've ever heard (--even two of them) coming out of a pedal. And the feature set (apart from no remote preset selection) is the bee's knees.😍

Is analog dry thru? I saw that there's a control for dry volume level which is the one thing the Poly Verbs (also convolution/IRs) doesn't have. This seems to give you more controls over manipulating the convolution, which the Verbs is sparse with. I might have to convert over to this. :)

I can't say for sure but it's two separate signals. You adjust the volume for dry and for wet. And blend that to taste. It's absolutely brilliant and I wish more pedals had that!

@@SashaIvantic FWIW I asked them the same question on one of their videos, and they said it was.

In the PRESET settings, there is a dry mode option. DIRECT is analog dry thru with no level control; MIX is the default mode which is not analog dry and has separate level control for wet & dry, and KILL which is just 100%. You can store this setting with the preset.

A fantastic array of features. But, no MIDI, no deal.

Sounds amazing but I just bought an Earthquaker Afterneath. Which also sounds amazing. I probably need to stop watching gear vids tbh but I really enjoy your playing. You basically sound like me but better so I'm hoping to absorb some mojo from you!

Funny thing: the guitar is clean, but all the reverbs sounds really distorted. Is that how it's meant to be, or (maybe at my end, I don't know) something else?

I’m hearing the same thing. I actually like that effect. The Strymon Volante will do the same thing. You can dial in some breakup on the repeats.

It's either clipping the inputs, or the levels inside are clipping (maybe he cranked internal levels up?). Zooming in, I can see some little indicator on the display that might be a clipping indicator. If I was making this vid, and heard that clipping, I would have fixed it and started over. As it is, this video gives a mixed-bag first impression. Full disclosure, I've got an Integral on backorder and am waiting for it to ship. If I successfully reserved one from the upcoming production batch, it should be a couple weeks. If I missed that window, then it could be a longer while. I'm looking forward to using the cool included IR's (especially the Open Air ones), but also I have some nice ones I've captured, and am gonna mess with some ones I'll make with noise.

The guitar is definitely not clean. He either has an overdrive pedal or driven amp. You can hear the crunch before he turns on the pedal. But I think the pedal does add to the drive. I have the pedal and it is not super pristine sounding… it’s got some grit to it, in a good way.
@JonStubbs
@JonStubbs 10 ай бұрын
He probably has drive on his guitar, but there is obviously some clipping of the reverb itself. I don't think it is true that the unit has some grit to it (I hope not). I listened to other demo vids and never heard any clipping.

@@JonStubbswell if you don’t want to believe someone who has the pedal, knock yourself out. It’s definitely clipping in the video but I still would not describe this as a pristine/clean reverb. It’s got a ton of ways to sculpt your sound, but you’re more than welcome to go read the manual to answer all your questions. It’s all in there
