Power is not regulated and there's no pass through power on the AC side, so you can't use the AC while charging the unit. Also, if you were using a 100W solar panel in full sun, it would take approx. 7 hrs. to charge the unit if completely dead. You have a 60W panel there, so figure several hours longer.

Seriously thinking about buying for camping and after several reviews and you are the one that just convinced me to buy it. As a ex over-the-road trucker of 20 years that coleman cooler paid for itself over and over. Great review!

Stan, you could use the solar/Rockpal solar generator in your clam tent, when you sit out there while van camping!! Like when you and Hobotec hang out in the clam "partying" relaxing, charge a phone, have a portable fan keeping you cool... I'm going to think about this for the primitive camping we love to do here in central Florida especially afterhours when I can't run my gas Champion inverter genny! Good review!

great video. I love your excitement the entire time. Your energy really sells it. These smaller units are amazing for light duty as you said during your video. I keep the watts under the rated output. Works great. These little units can be a real life safer when you need to run a cooler, lights or a tv a for a few hours.

Let me tell you, this is a great review, you tested lot of things, I will probably buy it, here un Miami we have to be prepared for hurricanes, I have been looking at the Jackery but they are too expensive, this review is right to the point, plain and simple. I was wondering if they sell the Jumper cables for auto battery? Thanks for the video!

GOLABS has one for 300 (with 100 off coupon) that`s 300 watts, 299 wh with a LiFePO4 battery which is the longest lasting battery made for these things. I recently bought the Rockpals but the GOLABS battery is rated at 2000 charge cycles VS 500 for Rockpals and the 12 volt cigarette port doesn`t drop voltage as the battery drains like the Rockpals allowing you to power portable refrigerators/CPAP etc without them shutting down due to low DC voltage. My Rockpals has came in handy twice already when our power went out and I used it to power my WIFI. It charges fine with my 60 watt solar panel at 36 watts. If you want to extend the life of the battery in these never store them fully charged (store them at 50%) and when you charge/discharge, if you can, keep it between 20-25% and 80-85% charge. Between 25 and 75% charge is even better. But even with normal full to empty charge cycles you`l still have 80% capacity left in the battery after 500 cycles. I also have six smaller folding solar panels between 20 and 30 watts that I use to charge a large collection of the small power banks to run USB lights, fans, radios, and to use with my USB NI-MH and 18650 battery chargers. If your WIFI uses 12 volts you can buy a 5 volt to 12 volt step up USB cable with a barrel plug that fits your WIFI and power your WIFI with a power bank. Make sure you check the polarity of the plug before plugging it in. You can cut the cable and reverse polarity. Small USB solar panels easily power a portable USB fan even on cloudy days. Get a long USB extension cable, put the panel in the sun, and run the cable to a shady area or in a window for the fan.

78000 milliamp hours is the same as 78 amp hours. All manufacturers label small capacity batteries this way to make them seem more powerful than they are. You really only need the milliamnp numbers for smaller capacities than maybe 10 amps. Nice job Stan!

I have went thru a couple of those coolers. They work hard in Arizona in the summertime. Supposed to keep your contents 30 or 40 degree cooler than the outside temp. So if you’re in Phoenix in the summer and the temp is say 112 about 72 or 82 is about the coolest the contents will get. Of course if you keep it in the shaded part of truck with the a/c running cold it would definitely keep things cool in it. That little solar generator would be handy if you were tent camping and needed a fan to keep a little air flow going and running a light.

funny, Bob Wells also put out a solar generator - he's unboxing a Bluetti AC50s Li unit. I'll watch both and see what happens!
@rc26393 жыл бұрын
I have both the PS300 and the AC50S. The Bluetti device is far better than the Rockpals device. The Rockpals can be charged @60W via the bidirectional PD USB-C port. In fact, this is the fastest way to charge it.

I think you did a great job Stan! I like how you used a lot of things that reach beyond the Rv/Van Life market. I for one would find more use with one of those as a portable light to carry in the back of my truck, or something emergency related. I think you did a really good job illustrating that part of it! Maybe a follow up video after it has seen some use and what you liked and disliked about it (both are equally important!).

So when charged from a home wall outlet or your car battery , do you still call it a solar generator ? So then the battery in a car or truck is also a solar generator. Just don't make sense , I own a Goal Zero that I use and it wont generate all though will store solar energy. Shamwow

If you use a CPAP machine, go with the Jackery 300. It's the only 300 watt battery on the market with both pure sine wave conversion and regulated DC output. Without these, the CPAP could be damaged. The Rockpal does look nice. It could probably power Stans little fridge for around 4 hours on a hot day ?

Free equipment in exchange for a review definitely not a bad deal... he will use it to help out the channel. Stan spends a pretty penny on cameras I cannot blame him for going for free stuff... you don't have to watch the video if you do not want to.
@@reax2237 do you get paid for the work you provide? I’ll assume so and if so why? You should do it for free because evidently that’s what you expect content creators like Stan to do. I know he gets ad money so no need to go there. This and patreon is kinda like a bonus plan at a normal job and is absolutely normal for creators. It’s really simple. If you don’t like it, move on.
