I love that he quickly mentions foreshortening because it's what separates the 1987 and 2019 versions. He was still drawing body part stacked on body part, outlining every bit, like GI Joe toys lying on the page. 2019 is now dynamic shapes with proper shadows. I wish I could draw like the man Jim Lee!

Dude, Jim you made OMEGA RED, my favourite villain. Thank you. Much respect... and I suspect that it was your work on some huge pieces that I would just look over every inch of each page as a kid. Your ability to have multiple characters on each page is simply staggering.

@ Jim Lee I love what you're doing for all of us who appreciate art period. What you are doing for us is priceless to me. I believe if you charged a hefty price for this material people would still buy it. That you made this material for anyone curious enough to sit through and watch what you're doing shows how much you love the craft rather than loving the wealth more. One day, I will pay you back for what you are doing here for us all. The best way I feel I can pay you back is by working hard on my craft and sharing it with others the way you are doing. Thanks again Jim!

To me, the moment you start applying black ink for hard shadow and the speed you work at it, is the definitive line of peak mastery of the craft. No hesitation and know where to go at the shortest of time required. Always the good stuff, Jim.

Obviously a good picture, but Jim's style has changed vastly from the style that made him famous in the 90's. I suppose he's evolving as an artist.
@mikey_vengenz5 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Every artist goes through transitions. It's the only way we grow. I can't draw at ask but I'm a painter. I've recently been challenging myself by trying new things and new techniques.
@vaderetro2645 жыл бұрын
Kevin Strieter He hasn't changed much in my opinion . Frank Miller or David Mazzucchelli , for instance, have "changed vastly", not Jim Lee.

Hey Jim Lee, love your artwork,and it is real art..How long time do you use to draw on a comic under scedule,and do you have freedom to create for "free" storywise,not on scedule? aka DC/Marvel..and so sell it?

For a fun game, count how many times theartjedi asks if he can draw Kylo Ren. Instagram just really needs to go away. It's such a frustrating service, particularly with all the ridiculous photo garbage. I get the humor of berating a service here because of it being a visual medium, but I don't find them comparable.
