Hello, I'm long overdue for a garden update video, in fact this is the first garden video in this season. I've included a lot of before and after shots of my journey with this yard from 2019 to now 2023. Enjoy :)

I know how hard it is to live in a different country than your family and be the only person who is away… glad that your garden gives you such joy and peace. ❤ for me, it’s houseplants! 😅

Hi, Maria! I think that bug is a type of grasshopper. There are probably at least a dozen species in California. I would not worry. They won't bite. :)

Oh, Masha! You are creating an incredible oasis on your property! I especially love that Mila has her own very special spaces, just what every child needs. You said you don't eat the beans (I'm not a green bean fan either ick!), but do you harvest them and give to a friend who will eat them? I love that you're taking your time and not afraid to change things up as you see what works for you. Can't wait to see how it all comes together as you continue filling up the hill. So peaceful and beautiful! Good for you!

This is my favourite form of "ASMR." Its very natural, completely unintentional, but so soothing and peaceful

ikr, i realized halfway into the video how much I'm into it and just like im sitting with her, enjoying the nature ❤

After watching the entire video i have come to the conclusion that Maria has two ASMR channels - one intentional & the other, unintentional. I honestly haven't come across anyone who has a voice as effortlessly soft & gentle as her's. P.S. Listening to you speak about how much you cherish your home & garden reminds me of a famous quote from The Hobbit: "Farewell, Master Burglar. Go back to your books, and your armchair. Plant your trees, watch them grow. If more people valued home above gold, this world would be a merrier place."

Omg Maria I would die for an ASMR video of your afternoon sitting spot and just listen to the wind and the gentle twinkle of the wind chimes and fountain bubbles. It’s so unbelievably soothing and you did a stunning job on your garden!!

I own a flower nursery... that slope is PERFECT for a flower called Hummingbird Trumpet Mint. It trails downhill with big red plumes. Its stunning. Keeping it potted if you don't want a ton of it.

Your strawberry tree is in the arbutus family and will naturally drop leaves continually during the year. As long as it looks healthy and is growing it's doing fine. I have to say your garden is magical. A little bit of everything and it brings you such joy and purpose. It's lovely to see.

Maria, with the sunbaked area of the hill, maybe you could install a shade sail there? I live in florida and we have one in our yard to allow for some respite from the brutal sun and the plants love it. Especially if you plan to have a tree there eventually it would allow you to plant for the eventuality of that area being in shade :) I always love your gardening videos and I wish we lived in the same climate- so jealous of your japanese maples/acers!

Maria I love, love, love your garden. I am so envious. You have quite a green thumb. I, too, had a Barbra Streisand rose years ago. But where I live in Angels Camp we have no fences, so the deer ate her and about six other rose bushes that lined my driveway. So frustrating. I miss having color in my yard. When we lived in the Bay Area I loved my impatiens. But the deer love those here, so I can’t have them. :( Enjoy your lovely yard. You’ve worked so hard on it, and it shows! Thanks for the tour.

Well done on your beautiful garden! The grapes along the back fence will look terrific. Just let the leaves fall onto the soil in winter. Don't worry about fruit trees not producing every year - this is quite common. The mandarin food might have promoted leaf and not fruit...check the bag. Love that pineapple sage. I have a friend with nearly 100 different sages in her garden! Your beans would be very delicious! Pick them small, chop and steam. 😋 When you bark the garden you'll find the soil condition improves and you don't have to water as much. Enjoy every minute in your garden!

Oh Masha, I'm so sorry to hear about your back. Sending good thoughts and vibes for a complete and speedy recovery and that you should not be in pain. I love your garden. I love seeing how you keep learning, trying, how you keep going even when things don't work out. In fact, I really needed to see this video right now. When you said you did many grafts but very few took, I realized I also have to keep trying and learning things in my own life. Not everything will take, but the ones that do will hopefully bear fruit and bring much nourishment and pleasure. Thanks for making this video and sharing your beautiful garden with us!! PS And that tree is another lesson, isn't it? So glad you guys decided to keep it long enough to discover its strength!!

Gorgeous!! Thanks for the update! My husband does tree work and we used to live in the Sacramento area. Highly recommend checking with tree companies about mulch; lots of them deliver it for free!! They have so much. Our city had a very low cost mulch option too. Don't let a landscape company talk you into a huge bill for mulch!!

Hi Maria! I have never pruned tomato plants (unless there are leaves touching the soil) but they do need a tomato cage, or to be tied to a stake to help keep the main stalk upright and support the branches especially when they bear fruit.

Enjoyed this so much Maria. You bring me much pleasure (on both channels). You have created a beautiful garden (which I have enjoyed watching develop over the past 4 years). I am most envious of your beautiful acer tree and not surprised you love it. That bed where you had corn and potatoes seems far too small for those. Maybe a couple of potato plants. Corn needs to be planted in multiple rows so it’s pollen can be spread by the wind amongst the stalks - so a plot of 5 or 6 short rows will produce where one or two rows will not, for example, but that bed doesn’t seem wide enough for any more than 2 rows. and you don’t need to support the individual tomato branches as long as the central stalk is supported, and don’t prune the leaves. The leaves provide a bit of shade for the tomatoes do they don’t get sun scald. Looks so yummy!!! Fantastic job you have done!❤
