c) Yes, consciously activate root lock. d) There are times in Kriya's where there is no relax after, it is recommended, but I personally have never been that strict. e) Steadier nerves, straighter spine, better focus, consolidation of energy and its projection.

I can't get over the beauty and simplicity of the wooden structure you're in. I can feel how it might have been made and how comfortable it looks. I'm a complete beginner and i am yet to overcome the odd self-shyness of doing a yogic practice out loud, even to myself. Possibly some throat clearing needs to be done, but i trust that this practice will become comfortable when i really need it in my life. I will work on other breathing techniques in the mean time. +GuruPrem Khalsa From impossible yesterday to maybe 50% correct today haha thanks a lot, I will keep on going. There is a muscle blockade to much up / middle at the release. I have high reflections and a troubled body. Thankfully, I expand on other parts like when you cut a side of a tree the other one explodes.

What you first heard is not correct, When you chant Sat, it is an exhale (as is anytime you say anything it will be an exhale) but when you say Nam it is also an exhale as you are speaking. Sat Nam Guru Prem, and thank you for this marvellous video lecture on Sat Kryia. Seeing this clip, 2 questions came to my mind: a) What exactly do you mean, when you refer to drugs. Do you refer to medication, or to drugs like smoking, coffee, marijuana, etc. b) It is said, that Sat Kriya is stimulating the chakras of the lower triangle, but somehow it has an impact on the higher triangle as well. Somewhere I read that it will channel lower energies to higher energies? Thank you in advance!

Firstly, you can always practice in any seated position that is comfortable for you, even sitting on a chair. Be very careful when you have knee injuries! You can always use propping, roll up a towel and put it between your heels and butt, or under your ankles, or both! Just make sure not to force sitting in this position! Let our knee heal.

Yes, really you can do a variation with the arms that works for you and your injury (you can't do what you can't do, at the moment) and just focus on the spinal column and energy there, so keep the internal aspect and alignment correct. You could keep your arms and hands in prayer pose at your chest.

Thanks for sharing this with us. When pulling in at the naval, how hard do you pull? Is it a gentle action, a violent action, or somewhere in the middle? Do you pull all the way in, as far as you can, or is it more of a slight to moderate action? How much force do you use? I've been trying this and I think I might be a bit too forceful. Thank you

At 3:30 I give a good example of the sound you want to make and you can see it is not too strong. In Sat Kriya the navel movement is definitely between the gentle & violent, the navel movement is moderate. Remember we are moving the energy up, not backwards, so as the navel moves back towards the spine/sacrum the pelvic floor also lifts and the diaphragm a little. Watch this video and you can hear Simran(my wife) she spends a little more time clarifying and doing Sat Kriya so you can hear how it is supposed to sound. Three questions, please: 1. How fast should the Sat-Nam breathing be? 2. Since we are speaking the words out loud, does that mean that we breathe through the mouth when doing the kriya? 3. I have seen a kriya also referred to as Sat Nam, but done in the Eagle Pose, and the breath is more like fire breath with mental repeating of Sat-Nam as compared to audible repeating of Sat-Nam and slower breath as in your video. Is the Eagle Pose practice a modification of Sat-Nam as presented by you, or it is a difference practice? Thank you.

The questions you are asking are not easy to answer in the written form, I would recommend finding a certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher where you are and take a class. 1. it is not Sat-Nam breathing, as you can only speak on an exhale, the rhythm of saying "Sat Nam" is about 2 seconds check out this video made by my wife for some more clarity on speed and breath. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r32TdqKqg6p4frM 2. Yes, the breath can come in thru the mouth if you like 3. I am not sure about which pose you are referring, but is sounds like a different posture. In Kundalini Yoga, unless specified to chant another mantra, the mental recitation of "sat nam" is part of the whole practice, to chant 'sat' as you inhale 'nam' as you exhale is constant. Sat means truth, Nam means name or identity, so mentally repeating 'sat nam' as we practice the asana and breath we are remembering our true nature and removing the tensions that keep us from living our truth. Hope this helps to clarify and you enjoy the practice!

As Sat Kriya is complete by itself, yes, you can do it after a Hatha practice, it is always a good idea to tune in before with "Ong Namo Gurudev Namo" and remember to relax after for at least half the time you practice it.

As you chant 'Sat' the navel pulls in towards the spine and the pelvic floor lifts thus you are applying Root Lock / Mool Bandh, there is no diaphragm lock(Uddiyana), but the diaphragm does lift a bit so there is an upward motion.

Dillon, Do not do anything that is too painful. Do not hurt yourself as it sets you back and limits your progress. Try it briefly and move back to a sitting position as necessary. Work into or toward any asana that you find difficult slowly and with thoughtfulness. The goal is to do Sat Kriya, not to hurt yourself, or be in great pain. These are very powerful exercises (Kriya), take your time, persevere, be patient, move forward with thoughtfulness, you are bound to succeed in time.

No, pain in the knee is not what we want to feel, change your seated position, easy pose or a chair, or use a prop: try a pillow or folded blanket between your heels and hips (between calves and thighs) or use a yoga block between your feet that you sit on. In every position we do, we want to have a comfortable seated position and we need to be careful with the knees!

When we do Kundalini Yoga we keep the mental focus when we breathing in mentally think Sat and when we exhale mentally repeat Nam. But in this Kriya we are saying these word out loud, Both Sat and Nam are done as breath comes out. When this kriya was taught the breath was not specified, the inhale will come in little bits where you need it. There are two places where the inhale can come, either after you say, 'Nam' or after, 'Sat', both will be small amounts of air that you take in, it is Yogi's choice, do what feels right to you and allows you to continue in a nice rhythmic pace. You start with an inhale to begin and then chant Sat. It is tougher to do the Kriya in padmasana with the palms together, however some people cannot sit on their heels in vajrasana(thus the offer to sit in sukhasan). Shaking is an indication that you are challenging the nervous system, can you maintain the posture or do you stop?
