I had a 2 hour conversation with a fellow Dutch guy with Morrocan background on the train. What made it interesting, is that he left Islam, and decided to follow a form of Satanism. I'm a native Dutch, born and raised Roman catholic, who reverted to Islam. A lot of people criticised me for keeping in touch with the guy after we first met, but his personal views (especially the various parts where we disagree) actually increase my believe in Allah swt. Point being, I like watching Ali talking to this person, keeping the conversation going is key in spreading a true and positive image of our beautiful religion. Because even amongst the people who we oppose most, there are sensible people who are able to have civilized conversations

So the choices we make personally depend on ourselves, and so the same goes for us as a civilization. The one problem that I see today, is that many people are not able to accept the fact that some people might think differently, or believe in something different than themselves. We see this amongst Muslims, Christians, Jews, Hindus, Atheïsts, and other ideologies/religions. Good or bad, depends on the person. It doesn't necessarily depend on what religion the person follows. I think religion can be a beautiful addition for some of us. It inspires billions of people to do good. We must all, as humanity, stand against the ones who use religion (or their hate for religion) as an excuse for violence..

What I've learnt is that too much freedom is actually dangerous for the soul. A certain form of restraint is necessary to appreciate something in its entirety. That being said, the conversation was really an eye opener, very respectful and strengthened my belief in Allah. Alhamdulillah.

Allah's statement, وَأُحْضِرَتِ الأنفُسُ الشُّحَّ (And human souls are swayed by greed.) means, coming to peaceful terms, even when it involves forfeiting some rights, is better than parting. Abu Dawud At-Tayalisi recorded that Ibn `Abbas said, "Sawdah feared that the Messenger of Allah might divorce her and she said, `O Messenger of Allah! Do not divorce me; give my day to `A'ishah.' And he did, and later on Allah sent down, وَإِنِ امْرَأَةٌ خَـفَتْ مِن بَعْلِهَا نُشُوزاً أَوْ إِعْرَاضاً فَلاَ جُنَاْحَ عَلَيْهِمَآ (And if a woman fears cruelty or desertion on her husband's part, there is no sin on them both) Ibn `Abbas said, "Whatever (legal agreement) the spouses mutually agree to is allowed.''. At-Tirmidhi recorded it and said, "Hasan Gharib''. In the Two Sahihs, it is recorded that `A'ishah said that when Sawdah bint Zam`ah became old, she forfeited her day to `A'ishah, and the Prophet used to spend Sawdah's night with `A'ishah. There is a similar narration also collected by Al-Bukhari. Al-Bukhari also recorded that `A'ishah commented; وَإِنِ امْرَأَةٌ خَـفَتْ مِن بَعْلِهَا نُشُوزاً أَوْ إِعْرَاضاً (And if a woman fears cruelty or desertion on her husband's part), that it refers to, "A man who is married to an old woman, and he does not desire her and wants to divorce her. So she says, `I forfeit my right on you.' So this Ayah was revealed.''
