I completely agree with your interpretation. Great job! Truly, unless you are a PRETERIST , Christian in General will not understand this! But, I pray that believers would INVESTIGATE really well the " PRETERIST " before writing us off! Because Truly, the " FULL PRETERIST VIEW" make a lot of sense of it ALL!

Wow Shade, u go for the jugular of modern theology! Its like a rug being pulled out from under u in how weve been taught & taught to see thinking in their perspective. Whats really got me going crazy is I can see exactly what yur saying, not in this episode but many others. Im in a spiritual whirlwind, seeking Father if these perspectives of yurs could be solid & true. If so how blinded we have been made! Interestingly enough, I have been finding that very often those who are 'younger to the faith' seem to be understanding this view better than many who have been around for a while. Yes, I think to continue and grow in an exponential way (feast of penticost)...I think verses like Colossians 2:15 help affirm this: 'And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.' That is all past tense before 70AD. Paul references the success at the Cross in verse 14.

Brother Shade, I gotta say this again. I love what you're doing. Love it. You are opening such a huge can of succulent, tasty worms that just have to be consumed. Having said that, when you told another brother that the reign never stopped. I would say you are correct. But the question is when did it start? It started when He overthrew the apostate kingdom, not when He successfully beat the temptations in the wilderness. What Jesus did in the wilderness is that He won the battle of the carnality that plagues mankind by not giving in to the temptation to reign from a carnal position. He was given the full measure of the Holy Spirit. None of us in this realm have been given that. We've been given a measure so that we have the ability to choose to say no to temptation and if we follow the Spirit, we succeed, and when we don't, we incur a loss in any given battle of our carnality that's inherent in us because of our mortality. We weren't born sinners. Sin is an action. All a little baby can do is cry and puke. But we were all born in mortality and scripture tells us it is inherent in our mortality "by which we sin". So, the success in the wilderness is not the beginning of the takeover of the kingdom. It was the beginning of the takeover of the carnal mind that dominiates all humans without the Holy Spirit. Judah still had the actual kingdom till 70ad. Adversary/satan comes in different forms but there's one thing in common. It's a human condition. Our greatest adversary is our carnal mind not any evil government. However, evil governments are composed with carnal minds that have given themselves over to their carnality so not only are they their own worst enemies, but they are endowed with political power and choose to become an adversary to God and Christ and His followers and in that sense, satan/adversary becomes a collective entity. Now as for Christ calling the shots, no doubt about it. As for satan being under His feet, no doubt about it. But His feet didn't crush it out of existence yet. The adversary is running wild today -- all under the watchful eye and permissive will of God in Christ. It was Christ that bound it in 70 ad. It was Christ that loosed it in our recent past. And it is Christ that will permenantly destroy it in our near future. Thanks bro!

I am fairly new to preterism, (spent over 50 years in futurism) so to play it safe I’ve stayed with the ‘partial preterist’ view, but that creates more questions; after all, isn’t partial preterism actually futurism? Thank You for commenting. I'm not sure what the context I was in when I said the quote. But I think I was implying that Christ had come to usher in the New Covenant...and the New Priesthood. So Ancient Israel and the Old Covenant and the Levitical Priesthood was coming to an end and the 'take over' was to bring in the New Covenant and New Heavenly Jerusalem which would be established under the Melchizedek Priesthood.

Thank You for sharing this refreshingly honest testimony! Many indeed ask this question and never get an answer. This is part of the reason why I the Historical view is something to consider. Hope this is something You will continue to consider.

Luke 4:21 goes back to Vss. 17-19 and the scripture fulfilled begins in Isaiah 61. I’m still studying out the 1,000 reign but what you say makes sense. I always wondered what happened to the saints who came out of the graves in Matthew 27:50-53, then I found John 5:24-29. So did they reign with Christ for 1,000 years?
@ShadeStoneMusic
@ShadeStoneMusic Күн бұрын
This is a great question. At the center point of that question is this: Is the 'reign' from the heavenly Jerusalem, or an earthly Jerusalem? So, since I think it's from the heavenly Jerusalem, I believe they did reign, and continue to reign. I love the fact that you are still studying this out. You're considering, but at the same time taking your time with it. Very commendable. Keep up the good work!

I think you have made an excellent observation. I suspect that the term "thousand years " was the way the translators expressed "a long period of time". your thoughts?
@ShadeStoneMusic
@ShadeStoneMusic 6 күн бұрын
I think that it is allegorical...So it could represent 'a long period of time' as you said. I also note that in the old testament, no one lived to be 1000 years...they always fell short of the '1000'. So I do see a 'fullness' and 'completion' to the number '1000' as well. And it is used that way in the old testament. I think on some levels we still use it that way today. For example: 'A picture is worth a 1000 words'. This expression communicates that in order to vividly describe a photo in full, it would require 1000 words to bring about that full and complete vision. So in light of that, it could also be describing the 'finished' work of Christ and His overwhelming victory over the grave.

This is great, as always! I get that in Rev 20, Mark 1, Matt 3 - the ol' trusty KJV says "fulfilled" however in the Greek they are two different words. Rev 20 is "teleo", the others are "pleroo". Do you think that changes the interpretation at all?

I just checked this out...and actually, I think it anchors the point even more because 'teleo' includes 'qualitative' completion within it's definition. Which helps the 'thousand' allegorical approach, since that number is more about 'quality' than it is about literal 'quantity'; (in my opinion of course.) Thanks for pointing this out!

Hey Brother, I was reading my Bible tonight and I happened to be reading 1 Cor 4. Check out 1 Cor 4:8, Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you. (1 Cor. 4:8 KJV). Paul is literally telling the believers and apostles in the first century they were reigning with Christ. Sounds exactly like Rev 20:4.

As you discussed Mat. 4, it made me think Jesus was being offered a choice between the Old Covenant kingdom and the New Covenant kingdom. But Jesus had His eyes on the NC kingdom wherein dwells righteousness, which the OC could not provide, and where the Gentiles were included. Could this be a fair assessment/interpretation of this passage? Thanks, Brother, for any feedback.
@ShadeStoneMusic
@ShadeStoneMusic 3 ай бұрын
Excellent Thoughts here! I've never thought to call that time frame and what Jesus was being offered: ' The Old Covenant Kingdom'; On many levels, that's what it was. And the Old Covenant was being used to 'tyrannically control' the population. The same could be said about the Gentiles who lived under their own laws, but still those were also designed to again 'tyrannically control' their people by threat and fear. I think it is a very fair assessment and good gleaning from the Scripture. Thank You for sharing!

Good job as usual Brother. I have noticed that even Full Preterists have disagreements galore about how to interpret assorted passages. They do agree Jesus had it all sewed up by 70 AD but can't agree on what the Beast was. Since this one is about Satan, how do you describe who and what Satan is to people? How do you picture him?
@ShadeStoneMusic
@ShadeStoneMusic 3 ай бұрын
Thank you Bro! It is indeed true Brother; Full Preterists disagree on the details of the imagery and the symbols in Revelation etc...But we all agree, God fulfilled His Promises through Christ by 70AD. As for 'Satan'; I see him as 'The Adversary'...I borrowed this statement from a good brother because I agree with him on this: 'Any individual that opposes God is a satan. Any individual that acts as an adversary to God's ways is a satan. Any collective corporate entity that opposes God and His ways is a satan.' In the first century, it was the First Century Scribes, Pharisees and anyone they convinced to follow their pernicious ways. Now...I think it's anyone violating this Law: Love God and Love thy Neighbor as Self; If they violate this law without repentance and with intent they are an 'Adversary'.

@@jeffkooistra264 Great Question Bro! So, let's start simple: In Luke 6:35 Jesus our Lord says: God is kind to the evil and the unthankful. So allow me to ask: Would it be kind for God to send His creations to be punished for infinity and beyond? Clearly the answer is no. And I will give You one more Scripture for this round: 1 Timothy 4:10 - 'God is the Savior of all men, especially those that believe.' So that is pretty clear. I appreciate your videos, they are very thought provoking. One question for you... Satan is mentioned in Matthew 16:23. Jesus is speaking to Peter and says "Get thee behind me, Satan." This is in-between the time that you proposed that Satan was bound and then loosed. After Jesus was tempted, but before Satan enters Judas. Why would Jesus say this then in Matthew 16? Thanks so much!
@ShadeStoneMusic

Great question! And if we take a close look, this actually favors the position I presented. Because here, 'Satan' is operating...but Jesus puts him right back in his place. So Jesus is calling the shots and 'Satan' has to listen. But at the last supper, 'Satan' enters into Judas and Jesus says the opposite this time. He says: 'That thou doest, do quickly.' Here Jesus doesn't say 'get behind me'...here Jesus says 'go do it fast'...this is why I'm thinking this is the 'loosening'. Thanks for the great question!

Thanks Shane, another great exposition of scripture. I would only ask that you look at Lk4:5, the Greek term oikoumene is used rather than cosmos when satan tells Jesus to see all the kingdoms of the world (oikoumene). This may be an indication that satan (adversary) is not a spirit being but could be a religious leader in charge of the kingdoms of Israel at that time. Luke uses cosmos when he refers to the whole earth but oikoumene when he refers to the empire of the Romans/Jews of his day.

🔔@3:15 Right there in Genesis, he says of all that is made, it is good .. because God IS good, and all of his works are good (even the ones we don't quite understand) 💜 Post watch edit: I found the story of how Judas comes to be the betrayer interesting from an intellectual position: It really does seem that Jesus is requesting a volunteer, and Judas accepts the mission .. but as the story progresses, things do not go the way Judas imagined (if you understand where the imagining comes from - aha!) and he winds up overwhelmed with remorse. I had thought, in the strictly intellectual way, not with any particular understanding or gnosis, that there was a failing of fellowship where Judas is concerned, and perhaps that is how the spirit of condemnation was able to creep back in among the fellowship .. any thoughts?

Great stuff. My thoughts... If we say the cross is at 30 and 40 years later the temple destruction is at 70. Then we have the binding of satan 3 1/2 years before the cross and then loosed chaos 3 1/2 years before the temple destruction. This is interesting because it makes the binding exactly 40 years. 40 just like 1000 is a number representing completeness or all so we can call that 40 a 'thousand'.

Thank You for sharing this! This is a very descent interpretation in my opinion. In this approach I think we would be saying 'the old serpent' is bound, but still able to function, but not at 'full capacity'. Then he is unleashed aka: loosed at full capacity because 'he knows he has a short time'.

Shade, what I dont understand is this. When is the thousand in relation to the season? If satan tempts Jesus he was out. But the binding season is from the temptation to the entering of Judas. Right? So where does that put the thousand years of binding? Appreciate your videos.

The thousand year reign commenced in 70ad when the apostate kingdom was overthrown. Remember Jesus said that the kingdom would be taken away from the unbelieving Jews and given to a nation who will bring forth its fruits, His believing people. The kingdom was taken away from them in 70ad, not before. It was still operating. The little season comes after the the symbolic thousand year reign. Symbolic for a long period of time. For over a thousand years, the christian church was growing and advancing till it was the dominant faith throughout the whole earth. Towards the end of the 18th century, things began to change and transition to the little season which we are still in right now although it looks to me like we're at the tail end of it. We are in the little season of deception and no one can deny that the hallmark of this era is deception. Add war to that as well. Cuz the adversary was predicted to incite war and so it has been since the American revolution, the French revolution, the Bolshevik revolution, the two world wars, the possible impending third world war that the adversary is trying to incite, the breakdown of society and morals, the denial of God in general and enmity towards Christ and christians in particular. The pre-millenial version of preterism is the only view that ties everything together. That doesn't mean that there's not still questions to be answered, but history confirms the prophecies. History does not confirm the full preterist view. It's an attempt to shoehorn that view into a circle using a square peg. It just doesn't fit and flow.

Thank You for Your kind words and comment! There are certainly different interpretations on this that are worthy of considering. I'm thinking that 'Satan' is operating until Jesus 'binds' him at the temptation which means 'puts him on a leash' in my opinion; not eliminate. Jesus runs his ministry to fulfill all things. Then loosens him to take Jesus to the cross to fulfill all things. So the 'thousand' is an allegorical number representing 'fulfilling all things' in my interpretation. It's not a literal thousand years. It's an allegory for fulfillment of all time, righteousness, scriptures etc...So the 'thousand' years of binding was a symbolic number for the fullness of His 3 plus years of His ministry.

???? 3 years of ministry equal to " a 1000 years "???? That totally does not make sense. Could you please elaborate on this more. You have so many good points, but clearly something is missing at the junctures of 27AD, 30AD, 70AD. If we have to discredit 1000 years as accurate, how would we trust the 40 years of David's reign, or the Exodus 40 years, etc., since 40 is also a very "symbolic" period too? It would bring into question other time frames like Ezekiels highly symbolic 390 days and 40 days (Ez 4). I'm sure you have addresses this ... the equation that... "a day is to YHWH as 1000 years". I hope there is a missing "key" to this riddle. 😅

@@karenjacks2904 ...Great questions here! Thank You also for Your kindness. I'm not sure if You have seen my 'thousand year controversy' video...that may help understanding my perspective. That said, let me offer this: In Mark 1:14-15 Jesus said 'the time is fulfilled'. How long was that...I think most scholars agree around 483 years. So the ministry was a little over 3 years, but the waiting (time) was much longer. Also, the next 40 years was also part of 'fulfilling all things'. So from a time perspective we are well over 500 years. We (as Christians) say that Jesus is reigning now...so that goes way beyond the 1000 years. So the bottom line for me is that the 'thousand' represents the 'overwhelming victory of Christ'; 'fulfilling things'; And just to add a little modern day allegory...I often say: 'I told you a thousand times not to put that there'; when in reality, I said it 3 times. Hope this helps!

I guess the whole point of what I’m saying is if he was bound at Jesus’s temptation and then loosed through the epistles we have him being bound close to 3:1/2 years which would then constitute the 1000 yr reign. But if he’s thrown down from His position of authority with God regarding the priesthood and temple administration, then he’s pretty angry for that short time just like the time was short for Jesus to come back. That just lines things out possibly. Using the OT for all binding scripture is where I take this position. It really only occurs after the sacking of a city and defeat of a King

Your right. In my view Satan is completely inactive and in prison today which is what binding terminology meant. Defeating and capturing the defeated king and sending him to the prison. The 1000 year couldn’t be anytime before the destruction of Jerusalem because the would be the worst prison ever letting Satan be as active as he wanted to be through the NT/wilderness period LOL. It just doesn’t make sense. And deceiving the nations is detrimental. Anyone who was deceived went back to that administration of deception and was crushed by the curse when Jesus came.

Full preterism is an impossibility, as it would mean the Creator is a liar, and He is not. Rev 21 : A New Heaven and a New Earth …3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying: “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man, and He will dwell with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God. 4‘ He will wipe away every tear from their eyes,’ and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away.” 5And the One seated on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” Then He said, “Write this down, for these words are faithful and true.”… There is still death and mourning. We are in satan's little season, before the white throne. Full preterism is a lie. Why do people continue on this thread is a mystery, and it is certainly not scriptural. Furthermore, 1000 years repeated six times is by no way figurative. Christ reigned for a 1000 years, which explains angelic architecture and music and arts we see as remnants of his kingdom.

I understand Your position here. And You could be accurate, that we are in 'the little season.' That said, much of the theology of this position is based on the most symbolic book of the New Testament. In Luke 15:32 the Prodigal Son was 'dead' and became 'alive' when he repented. He wasn't physically dead...that is the death that Revelation 21 may be referring to. The 1000 years does repeat, but that doesn't guarantee that it isn't symbolic. If I said 'that band is on fire' 10 times, it wouldn't make that statement any less symbolic in nature. By the way, some (not all) brothers & sisters that believe we are in the 'Little Season' also see the 1000 years as symbolic. It's a tough book Brother. Any one of us, could be wrong. @Shade Stone...Thanks for video. I too believe that this is the age of the devil loosed for "a little season" it makes the most sense after all the study I have done. I agree with you, it is possible that he began his rule at that time of baptism. But i think it was more after he was cleansed for 40 days in the desert. (40 meaning cleansing) But where I disagree is him being the King at that time. In the OT laws, a man had to be 30 years old to become a priest, Jesus being 30 years old (could this be In the order of Melchisedec?) This is also when I believe God spiritually entered him while he was on earth, for a time. (for his body was cleansed, God with us) I'm thinking he was not King yet, but he was their priest, (he ministered to them) and God's prince, in the order of Melchisedec. Which means, he would be King next after he defeated death, and rose to Heaven. Then he gets his Kingdom and becomes King. (40 days after death) Also remember when he rose from the grave, many came out of their graves and walked the earth. Could these be the 144.000 that are with him for the 1000 years? It says they follow him where ever he goes. He walked the earth for 40 days after risen ,then he left earth, and possibly they went with him. So could the 1000 year reign be from the day he rose, (became King) until the 1000 years. And satan was bound all that time. And us humans, lived the earth without satan here. But his spirit lived here, and within some. Again, just thinking. I always wondered why did Jesus himself speak from Heaven once he was no longer on earth at different times to people here on earth and not God. This may be why. For he was now the King of the earth. This makes since. (for a season) Also thinking, if Jesus went to hell to get those people out, and this is the time satan is bound, that would mean he is there when Jesus goes there? ummmm something to think. (too funny, auto correct here wants me to capitalize satan's name, I can't do it haha)

Interesting, so the 1000 years from Rev 20 on your view is basically the time of Jesus's Baptism to the point at which Satan enter's Judas, around 3.5 years. That fits the 1260 days and 42 months motif and I suppose you could say that the final 3.5 years was around 66.5AD-70AD culminating in the death of Satan. 3.5 years: Jesus's Ministry (during which Satan is bound) ~40 years: Apostles' Ministry (During which Satan is loosed) 3.5 years: Final Events of Armageddom (During which Satan is killed) This aligns with Revelation 12 pretty well.

@ShadeStoneMusic Thanks bro. Dragon/serpent=same thing=reptile=the cunning & subtle nature of the carnal mind which is in all of us & which is the dominate force when lacking the indwelling restraining Spirit of God. The carnal mind is at war (emnity) with God. Collectively, symbolized by nations who oppose God & His ways, they are referred as and likened to "beasts". For example, Egypt was symbolized as a dragon in scripture. In revelation, the dragon is mentioned again. This time with an additional description as a "red dragon". This red dragon attempted to murder the Christ child & went on a rampage killing all boys two years old & under. At that time Judah was ruled by the Herod dynasty which were Edomite jews. Therefore the red symbolism. As for devil/satan. The word devil=slanderer/accuser, as in the accuser of the bretheren. The red dragon was the primary accuser and slanderer of Christ and His followers. The red dragon deceived the people in the land & round about to reject Christ as an impostor & a malefactor and deceived those under its jurisdiction to persecute & murder christians. This red dragon also used its political clout to persuade the Roman authorities to murder God's Son. As for the word satan. The word meaning is adversary/opposer. The red dragon was without doubt the consummate adversary/opposer of Christ. Christ directly identifies this satan/adversary/opposer in revelation 2:9 & 3:9. This, my brother is the devil/satan/serpent/dragon that slandered/accused/were adversaries/opposers of Christ & His kingdom. That's why I keep saying that in order to understand just who/what was bound we must understand just what & who this satan/adversary was. Else we come up with our own rationalizations of what and when this binding/loosing occurred; in this case, the full preterism position. The notion of a supernatural, fallen angel that's second in mighty power to God Himself has pagan origins. This false teaching was adopted by the exiled jews many which were Edomites, and they brought this & other false teachings with them from the Babylonian captivity & integrated them into the israelite doctrine & became part of the traditions that usurped the truth that Jesus railed against them for. This doctrine crept into christianity after the old covenant age & has stuck strong into the christian psyche till today. And that's why, I submit to you, that there's so much cOnFuSiOn in the christian world. They are taught to think that we are fighting an evil super fallen angel that whispers in our ears multitudinous temptations to trip us up & to join his rebellion. It's a myth and a dark fairy tale. It takes the onus off of us, our own choosing to go along with our carnal propensities and turns us all into a Flip Wilson declaring "the devil made me do it". Thanks for the opportunity to delve in this topic a bit. Peace, Bro!

What is being fulfilled that is being spoken of in Luke 4:21 is not the entire scripture...just a few verses before it we see exactly what the context is that the word fulfill is correlated to: Luke 4 17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, 18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. What is being fulfilled is the spirit of the Lord being upon them and about to perform all of those miracles...which Jesus went on to do and described in just a few verses right after verse 19 ended. So these verses have no correlation with the millenial reign. Lastly, another verse you read about the fulfillment of righteousness is talking about Jesus fulfilling the law, which is supported in scripture. We know that its talking about the law because in the OT prior to the sacrifice of Christ, the law was the measure of righteousness. Again, no correlation with the millenial reign.
@YeshuaReigns2
@YeshuaReigns2 4 ай бұрын
Well that's another fallacy prevalent in full preterism. They take the term "all that is written" has to be fulfilled. Number one, they don't consider the context of what "all written" is. The book of revelation was not yet "written" when that phrase was used in the gospels. Number two, the "all written" that was to be fulfilled is all of the OT prophecies concerning the person of Christ and the ultimate end of the Old Covenant regarding the roman war that demolished the temple and killed millions of people of which the survivors went into captivity(bound).

Thank You for the comment! And yes, Jesus was about 'fulfilling the law'...but part of the 'law' was fulfilling the destruction of Jerusalem. That's why the rest of that Isaiah Scripture in verse 2 talks about the 'day of vengeance'. When You get to Luke 21:22, Jesus talks about the rest of that verse happening to that generation. But then they didn’t face the image of the beast described in revelation ? I can’t get past partial preterism even tho I’m open to full. Obviously chapters 1-19 happened back then tho. 1,000 meaning “all” or even thousands as Tischendorf’s translation of the Codex Ephraemi Rescriptus … if paradise was emptied at the destruction of Jerusalem (which makes sense that he’d finish the new, after all he said that he was going to prepare a place) … then the beheaded saints reigning with him for the rest of time in the new Jerusalem makes a lot of sense. As a full preterist, how do you reconcile “but” fire consumed them (the attackers)? I see that the Greek work Kai is just as easily translated “and” or “then” … is that your approach? Finally, you would agree that the first gog/magog in Ezekiel is different ? Perhaps Esther story? After, it’s the valley of Hamon - … and the reversal of fates fits … ?

Great Questions! I did a video called 'the first resurrection requires the first death'. In that video I point out that I think the 'first' resurrection is not the 'resurrection of the people who were physically dead'. I show how the 'first resurrection' may be much like the Prodigal in Luke 15:32 - My son was dead...now he is alive. When the saints became new creatures in Christ. In case You have some time, it may be worth You checking that out. It might help with showing the position better. Thank You for the great questions!

Here’s the problems with Luke 10 “beheld.” Satan was cast out in Rev 12 after Jesus had died because they did so by that blood. It’s past tense because because 1. It’s a prophecy, that 2. God has already deemed/seen to happen (speaking specifically to what God does, not that all things are predetermined) Ecclesiastes 3:14-15 (ESV) 14 I perceived that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it. God has done it, so that people fear before him. 15 That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been; and God seeks what has been driven away.

I think a similar expression of thought to this is Colossians 1. All things were (are) made by Him. In Him all things hold together. Well this is true (in every way, physically/spiritually) even while He was on earth. So Jesus created and maintained all things outside of the created entities time/space even while He was confined by time and space.

All right, I have given this some more thought. And I do not think the scriptures supports what you're saying. "Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8and shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle” it does not say Satan is loosed for the purpose of habiting Judas. It says he is loosed to deceive Nations. It says specifically why he is loosed. I try to hear you out but if to me it seems the scripture is clear. I feel like you're trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. I understand trying to figure out the reason why he's loosed. But this is too much of a stretch based on what the scripture is saying. So my concept is this: the deceiving was to convince people that Jesus was not the Messiah, and therefore crucify Him and save Barabas...and after His resurrection, to convince people He had not raised from the dead, and was not the promised Messiah and that the Temple would not be destroyed and no judgment was coming. That might be something to consider.

Great Questions! And Thank You for giving this view point some consideration! I must agree it is a tough section. And I can indeed be wrong. That said, I think a lot of this hinges on whether or not the 'thousand' is a literal thousand years, or does it represent a 'forever victorious reign from the Heavenly Jerusalem'? Also, does 'bound' mean that the 'old serpent' doesn't exist? Or does it mean that he is restrained. If it means restrained, then it would fit the idea that while he was on a leash, Jesus was able to do many great things.

What makes me uncertain of this explanation is that when Revelation was written, it was a prophecy of things soon to take place, not things that had already happened. Jesus was given power over Satan while on earth. Jesus was also given the power to resurrect. These things were a foregleam of things to come and also proof that Jesus was the Messiah. First century Christians could have confidence in the binding of Satan and the resurrection foretold in Revelation because Jesus had already demonstrated them. The loosing of Satan in Revelation appears to lead to the destruction of Jerusalem.Revelation 20:7-9. My present understanding is that the binding of Satan, the one thousand years, and Satan's release were all prophecy yet to come, but would soon happen from the time of writing.

Thank You for sharing! Your interpretation is very good! I think that is very possible as well. I do understand what you are saying about the binding and loosing in the past. That said, Revelation 5 describes Jesus as a 'slain Lamb'...that is past as well because it's imagery is about the crucifixion. Revelation 12 seems to be speaking to the virgin birth of Christ which is also in the past. Revelation 1:19 tells us that what would be written are things that 'have been seen'...past tense...'things that are'...present tense...things that are about to happen... Greek immediate future tense. So, the loosing certainly could be just before the destruction. This is just another possible take on when the timing is. Thanks again for sharing!

You should go through the NT letters and see how many times Satan is active in each book. He’s active throughout the whole NT stealing, killing, and destroying. Not a very good binding from deception if he’s active in every letter. To be thrown out of heaven is to have the priestly administration change. In Rev 12 he was thrown down from heaven to earth and verse 12 says woe to you oh earth and sea for the Devil knows his time is short. Just like in every epistle Jesus is coming soon. Also Hebrews 5:5. The Baptism of Jesus by John was his initial High Priestly consecration. The prophet always establishes the new regime. Moses to Aaron. Also 1 Cor 5:5 and 1 Tim 1:20 Paul hands people over to Satan. Def not bound in the NT especially if we take the reference verses in OT that show the defeated King is bound and put in prison. Rev 20:7 Satan is released from prison. Way too active to be bound in the NT. It doesn’t make sense

@@ShadeStoneMusic Your right on where the Kingdom begins. Jesus shows that. I’m just trying to get us to understand that binding terminology is only used after a king defeats another king and we see that concept in Luke 14. Joshua 6:2 is a cool verse and we always typologically assign Jesus as Joshua defeating Jericho/Jerusalem and entering into the rest Canaan/1000 yr reign. And the reason this is important is because as Full Preterists, this aspect of doctrine is our very weakest point and we don’t use scripture like 2 Chronicles 36, Jeremiah 52, and 2 Kings 25 to understand binding terminology and timing. Very passionate towards this because outside of using those scriptures we are only speculating.

The binding & loosing are directly connected to the thousand year kingdom reign. One did not happen without the other. Now did the kingdom start when Christ was annointed by the Holy Spirit? No! Just like David's kingdom didn't start when he was annointed by Samuel. David was the king "in waiting". Saul was still in charge of the kingdom. Same thing in the 1st century. Christ was annointed in 30ad. Judah was still in charge of the kingdom. Christ was the king "in waiting". Christ didn't assume His kingship till 70ad when Judah was deposed. Likewise, David didn't assume his kingship till Saul was deposed. Therefore, the kingdom and its reign of a thousand years DID NOT commence till the apostate kingdom was removed. That was 70ad. Therefore, the binding & loosing of satan DID NOT occur prior to 70ad. Those are scriptural facts that cannot be controverted. Full preterism hinges on the reign/binding/loosing on it all happening prior to 70ad. Proving that this did not occur (which I just did), irreparably demolishes the teaching of full preterism. All things written concerning the old covenant age have indeed been fulfilled. Not all things written about the new covenant age have yet been fulfilled. How can all things about the new covenant age be fulfilled in the past while the new covenant age is still unfolding as we speak??? This is the point where full preterism takes scripture, logic, & common sense & discards it into the LOF! God invites us to "come, let us reason together..." Full preterism says "Nah, FP is right even though I can't prove it by scripture alone, even though logic & sense are lacking, even though I must engage wild semantic acrobatics to force my position into legitimacy. " Btw, don't get thrown off balance by the passionate way that I defend my position. My contention is not towards my good brothers & sisters who hold to full preterism. It's purely against the teaching. Peace!

Absolutely Bro! No worries at all. I would suggest it's the reason there is a 'comment section'! Your point is duly noted as well about a 'king in waiting'. That said, I think it is also fair to say that Jesus wasn't 'waiting anymore' when He goes to get baptized and heads into the wilderness. He 'waited' until then. Not anymore. He does say He bound the 'strong-man' in order to 'spoil his goods'. That is a big statement that lines up with the Revelation 20 text. And if we are careful with the first two verses, the 'thousand year reign' isn't mentioned at all...not until 'after the binding'...I think that is significant. So it would be possible that the 'take over' begins at the mountain, and that is the beginning of what is 'allegorical' to begin with. When the writer talks about 'the reign'...He writes about the Saints and the first resurrection...When he writes about the binding and loosing, he never mentions the 'reign' at all. I find that worthy of taking note of. Also, keep in mind, 'the little season' in this interpretation is a quite a bit more...well...'little'. So that has some value to consider in it as well. Keep stirring and studying Bro...I have only been more edified by Your commentaries!

@YeshuaReigns2 4 ай бұрын
Ok bro, lets take a look at the first point you made: "He bound the strong man and spoiled his goods." You've probably heard the phrase; "To the victor belongs the spoils", right? The conquering king takes all of the booty, all of the stuff that belonged to the conquered kingdom. Now one question I have of you is; who is this strong man who's goods Christ confiscated in that mountain after His baptism? And just what "goods did He take from him at that point in time? If you take the position that the strong man is a fallen angel named satan, exactly what did Christ strip him of at that particular point in time? Did He leave this fallen angel destitute with nothing left? Or did He just use scripture to shut his mouth temporarily? Whoever this enemy is, He clearly didn't overthrow him at that point in time. The position that I hold to is that this satan/adversary is the leadership of apostate Judah. Christ the King did not spoil his goods till He overthrew them in the 70ad war. At THAT point did Christ spoil his goods, took everything away from him, stripped him entirely of the kingdom and took it over completely leaving him with nothing and then shared those spoils with His army of followers who assumed the reign with Him for the next thousand(s) years. With all due respect my brother, THAT'S how Christ spoiled the enemy. By ending the adversary's reign and fully taking the reins of the kingdom starting in 70ad. Seriously, to me, this position is not only sctipturally sound, but also makes perfect sense. To say that Christ spoiled the enemy's goods in 30ad while the enemy was ramping up his game for the next 40 years makes absolutely no sense either scripturally or logically. Do you see my point? Peace bro!
@ShadeStoneMusic
@ShadeStoneMusic 4 ай бұрын
@@YeshuaReigns2 ...I definitely see Your point. (This is why I don't slam my fist! LOL) To respond to Your question. I'm thinking 'the goods' are the people; I'm leaning towards that for two main reasons; when Jesus made the 'bind' statement, He had just cast out some evil; and also Jesus came to 'save sinners'. So I'm thinking the 'spoils' is an allegory for 'sinners'. Eluding to something like 1st John 3:8 - For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.' So it appears to me He was doing that. And You are correct on the position that Jesus didn't 'overthrow' the evil one at the temptation...but He did bind him. And if we look at Colossians 2:15 Paul writes: 'And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.' Paul is speaking in past tense. Paul is referencing the success at the cross in verse 14. Paul also happens to use the term 'spoil'. So it appears to me that Christ took over before 70AD and was in that process of collecting His sheep and subduing His enemies. Hebrews 2:8 further confirms that it was all 'under Him' in present tense: For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. (that is in present tense prior to 70AD)...But now we see not yet all things put under him. Eventually (70AD) they realized in physical manifestation that He was indeed the King. Thanks Bro!
@YeshuaReigns2
@YeshuaReigns2 4 ай бұрын
@ShadeStoneMusic Yes bro I agree that Jesus spoiled the principalities at the cross & especially at His resurrection. But spoiled not in the sense of overthrowing their kingdom as yet, but spoiled in terms of spoiling their plans to rid the world of Christ & spoiling their plans of not allowing Him His kingship. It's true what Paul said that God subjected all to Christ. Meaning God placed Him above those who were currently ruling. But Paul also says truthfully that NOT YET, at his time do we see all in subjection. That was the work to be accomplished post old covenant age and is ongoing till He crushes all opposing rule & authorities. Clearly, we're not there yet. Christ has to conquer a very potent modern adversary and when He accomplishes that task, THEN all will be in subjection to Him. THEN the fires of the white throne judgement will purify the rest that have now been made subjected to Him. And finally, at the consummation of God's plan, God will be all in ALL. Right now He is all in some. Meaning that right now only a comparative few are in relationship with God that He is the ALL encompassing being or thing in life that is worshipped. Right now lots of folks have many idols whether it be money, power, sex, materialism, a sports hero, a patriotic hero, a celebrity hero yada, yada, yada. These things are what's the ALL in their desires & affections. But when God's will is finally achieved, all will have God in His proper place in their hearts and God will be ALL to them & He will be in the highest sense in them, fully reconciling mankind to Himself. God's plans are big. Then again, He's a big God. Thanks bro.

But I take a 'symbolic' approach. So the '1000' seems to demonstrate a sense of completion. In my view, with no precedence for a literal thousand year reign on earth in the rest of the Bible, I take the position that the 'thousand' is being used symbolically to represent the completion of God's work in Christ and a fulfillment of His promises. Much like I take the 'sand of the sea' to represent Israel... Or the '7 headed sea beast' to represent the Ancient Roman Empire...and the '5 dead heads' on the sea best are the first 5 Caesars... I take it much of Revelation symbolically... That includes the '1000'. Hope this clears things up!

Not necessarily everything...but a lot. Hey, I don't want to repeat comments but I did notice you have replied to others since and it's been over a day now and I am not sure how to make it notify you unless I make a new comment so that's why I am repeating. Revelation Chapter 12 Verses 7-12 (NRSVUE) Michael Defeats the Dragon 7 And war broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and his angels fought back, 8 but they were defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. 9 The great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world-he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. 10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven proclaiming, “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Messiah,[b] for the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. 11 But they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they did not cling to life even in the face of death. 12 Rejoice then, you heavens and those who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, for the devil has come down to you with great wrath because he knows that his time is short!” After Satan is thrown out the voice from heaven proclaimed that martyrs had conquered him by the blood of the Lamb. Wouldn't Satan's banishment from heaven have occurred, then, after Christ's crucifixion? But yet he was already on Earth. What am I missing here?

Thank You for repeating this! Sometimes I miss comments...not intentionally though...and sometimes I see the comments in my notification, but when I click on it, I can't find it...I think that is what happened in Your case. So here are my thoughts on Your question: I think the 'banishing from heaven' is a demotion of being able to 'accuse'. Notice 'the old serpent' is called 'the Accuser' in verse 10. He is not banished from existence. And keep in mind prior to this Satan was able to go both 'in the earth and in the divine court room'...We have proof of this in Job 1:6-7 - Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them. (this appears to be the heavenly court) And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. (this proves he was able to roam in both locations) So yes, 'the old serpent' could go to both the divine court and the earth; now he was reduced to just one; 'the earth'. Hope this helps!

@@ShadeStoneMusic Thanks for your response! Not a problem, I did not feel you intentionally ignored me but figured my comment or notification accidentally got overlooked. You have been great with responding and answering questions and I appreciate that. So with your explanation the whole thing would look like this: Satan is still able to go to and from the earth and heaven during Christ's ministry. Even after he tries to deceive Christ in the wilderness and after he enters Judas to betray Christ and after he clearly had intent to destroy Christ as pointed out in Revelation, he is still permitted to go to and from heaven. Yet, the decision to remove him is not made until after 70 AD once many have been martyred? Why not banish him from heaven prior to that point when he was committing great evils against Christ? Just trying to make sense of it all here.

@@jessicabriltz2261 ...I would say that when 'the old serpent' was bound in the temptation...He could not go to the divine courts. Once he was loosed in Judas, he was able again for the purpose of taking Jesus to the cross and to continue to try and convince people that the resurrection did not happen, as he was loosed to 'deceive the nations'...so that the unbelieving and the cowardly would end up in the First Century War to bring an end to the Mosaic Age; and in turn establish the Christian Ages. It appears to me that the very persecution of the Christians is what brought life to Christianity. People willing to give up their lives for God & Christ. Jesus does say in Matthew 23:34: I will send you 'prophets and wise men and scribes, and some of them ye shall kill and crucify, and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues and persecute them from city to city,'...Ultimately, they earned what the Scriptures call 'The Righteous Judgment of God'. I think that is the multi-purpose reason for the loosing. Hope this helps.

@@ShadeStoneMusic Thanks for the response! It is hard for me to arrive at that conclusion based on the text. What am I missing? If Satan was bound during Christ's ministry, but was not cast out of heaven until after Christ's crucifixion and after believers were martyred, then how could the temptation be the point at which Satan was cast out of heaven? On a separate note, I would be interested in scriptures of Satan deceiving people into believing the resurrection did not happen. That's not to say I question whether it happened, I was just curious if that is written out in the Bible. Thanks again for all your time. I apologize for taking up so much of it.

@@jessicabriltz2261 Here is the answer to your dilemma: Orthodoxy teaches us that in the verses you're talking about, that heaven refers to the celestial realm where God's throne is. That is a wrong interpretation. Heaven refers to the temple structure in the old covenant worship system. The temple served as a microcosm of the universe. The Holy of Holies represented Heaven/God's throne. The outer court represented the earth(God's people) with its ornament representation of the sea(the unbelieving nations). The high priest and the rulers of Israel, who ruled under God, represented God's heavenly rulership. The other problem is that orthodoxy teaches that there's a fallen angel named satan who is at war with God in a contest to cause a mutiny of all His creation to rise up against Him. This is pure baloney. The word satan simply means "adversary" or "opposer". The word "devil simply means "slanderer" or "accuser". There isn't any such thing as an evil angelic being that serves as the "accuser of the bretheren". God's satan/adversary/opposer/slanderer/accuser of the bretheren ARE HUMAN BEINGS in rebellion against God. The adversary in the first century was the apostate jews who ruled the kingdom and were in charge of the temple. The serpent/satan/accuser being kicked out of heaven is NOT some phantom fallen angel. It is symbolic of the Jews losing their status in God's program as the guardians of the kingdom on earth. In 70ad, in the Roman/Judah war, this adversary was thrown from its heavenly position and cast down to the earth. They lost their kingdom and their position as representatives of God and His kingdom. That's all that means. It's really very simplistic. It's man made doctrines that muddy the waters and complicate the matter. Let's look at Michael the Archangel. Michael="he who is like God"=Christ, the Son of God. He fought the red dragon=apostate Judah=Edomites(edom meaning red). Christ's angels also faught. Angels=messengers=disciples/followers of Christ and they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and their testimony=preaching the kingdom of God and Christ the saviour. The adversary=apostate Judah also faught, along with his angels=messengers/followers of the apostate system. But there was NO PLACE found for them. Why? Because in the Roman war of 70ad, the temple and the city was razed and became desolate and their place was no longer found. This is what's being talked about in that portion of revelation that you cited. That's why you can't see that satan was bound during Christ's ministry. Cuz satan wasn't bound. The apostate jews were in the driver's seat running the temple and the nation and deceiving everybody around them and they continued in this position until 70ad when Christ conquered the apostate kingdom and demolished it and it was gone....gone the way of the Dodo bird. The survivors of that war were sentenced to captivity(bound) and scattered among the nations and wandered about like vagabonds. Until recently. Now as for your question about if satan deceived people that Christ's resurrection did not happen. Yes, this satan did try that angle. Matthew 28:13 says the following: “You must say, ‘Jesus’ disciples came during the night while we were sleeping, and they stole his body.’ ". I hope some light was shed on your questions. Peace!

Revelation 20:7-8 When the thousand years (that dispensation, in that generation) are completed, Satan WILL BE RELEASED FROM HIS PRISON, and will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together FOR THE WAR; the number of them is like the sand of the seashore. Rome being the 4th kingdom (Daniel 2:40-43) will be the bringer of wrath to Israel. It was when Satan was set free to be the minister of God for wrath and vengeance! Romans 13:1-5 Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; FOR IT IS THE MINISTER OF GOD TO YOU FOR GOOD. BUT IF YOU DO WHAT IS EVIL, BE AFRAID; FOR IT DOES NOT BEAR THE SWORD FOR NOTHING; FOR IT IS A MINISTER OF GOD, AN AVENGER WHO BRINGS WRATH ON THE ONE WHO PRACTICES EVIL. Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience’ sake. Luke 21:20-22 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then recognize that her desolation is near. Then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains, and those who are in the midst of the city must leave, and those who are in the country must not enter the city; BECAUSE THESE ARE DAYS OF VENGEANCE, SO THAT ALL THINGS WHICH ARE WRITTEN WILL BE FULFILLED. Matthew 23:37-38 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling. Behold, your house is being left to you desolate!

Taking the kingdoms doesn't happen just because Jesus shows up and withstand the temptation. Jesus as God had authority over Hebrews all along since Abraham. Other nations were under the sons of God that rebeled. Such that Satan showed Jesus the kingdoms he ruled. Only after resurrection (Jesus bought back the authority over all the children of Adam by His blood). "All authority in heaven and earth have been given to me" .... Then "therefore go" all the nations... Prior to this event Jesus sent His disciples only to the Hebrew territories (which He authority over). Satan was thrown out of heaven (he didn't have authority in heaven but access to the throne). He and his angels /sons of God lost authority over the gentile nations. He was bound after resurrection.

When we spiritualize numbers we must be careful. We can really go off of the rails when we oversymbolize. For example, what about the 144,000? Does that symbolize a different spiritual truth or is it 144,000? John heard the number. It's really 144,000! What about the 30 pieces of silver? Does that symbolize anything other than the amount of money paid to Judas? No! What about the 42 months? Does that symbolize something other than the amount of time that the romans sacked Jerusalem? No! History confirms it. What about the 1260 days, the 1290 days, the 1335 days??? Are they symbols for something else? No! So then why is the thousand years singled out to not symbolize a long period of time? Why is an unbiblically sanctioned definition of fullness of victory assigned to it? The bible never defines one thousand to symbolize fullness of victory. So why do full preterists insist that it does??? By what authority do they impose that definition? Fact is history confirms that the thousand years(plural) is talking about real time. After the old covenant age ended, christianity steadily grew and advanced all over the earth for over a thousand years till in recent times it has been under assault until now christianity is all but dead in terms of having power and influence in the culture of humanity. These facts cannot be denied. But yet full preterism denies it playing the ostrich with its head in the sand doing a plethora of semantic gyrations that hold no water. I challenge any full preterist to confirm with explicit scriptural witnesses that the number one thousand doesn't symbolize a big number but rather fullness of victory. As an old commercial used to say, "Where's the beef?" Bring out the beef, not the kibbles! Peace.

I think that You are missing that we (or at least I) agree that it means a 'big number as well'. That's why I pointed to the 'the time is fulfilled'. He has been reigning ever since. Even now. That is a super loooong time...and continuing! As for the 'ups and downs' of Christianity, that has always been there, even in Scripture where Paul and Barnabas argue, Peter gets scolded by Paul in public, 'Christians' messing around with their relatives, stealing from each other, spreading rumors, being busy bodies, being lazy & mooching, while not providing for their families. These problems were there from the start Bro. And Christianity's influence has diminished because of it's impious behavior and lack of courage as a hole. At least in my opinion. I can't say my answers are perfect. But I gave the best answers I got. Thank You Bro; Much love & respect!

@ShadeStoneMusic Ok bro...I'd like to clarify something. When I say full preterism believes this or full preterism believes that, I'm talking about the teaching & the leadership that concocted this theory. Not brother Shade personally. I know you lean in that direction and I know you have questions that aren't answered in preterism. And I know that you sense that this teaching can be wrong. I was where you are currently at prior to finding your channel. It's just been in the last year and a half that I jumped off the fence & fully rejected the concept of FP. When I say "I challenge...", I do not challenge you personally. I know that there's probably a good number of confirmed full preterists that have been at this for decades lurking and viewing the comments. It's them that I challenge. So please don't take my words which are not dressed in sugar & spice to mean anything negative towards yourself, for it's not. I love your channel & you too bro. That said, I have an issue with the ups & downs. Ups & downs are one thing. A full bore descent into blatant evil is quite another & in my view doesn't constitute a mere ups & downs. It shows God allowing the adversary to ripen into full bloom causing almost universal rebellion against God and Christ. This is unprecedented since the 1st century. Back then it was localized to the Roman world. Now it's everywhere, on "the breadth of the earth". I hope I brought some clarification. Also, seriously, if it can be biblically only, that my position is wrong, I'll immediately abandon it. Peace bro.

As far as the notion that Jesus began His kingdom reign with His saints when He was annointed with the Spirit, not true. The kingdom wasn't inaugurated till He deposed the usuper/adversary/satan. And that didn't happen till 70ad. So there was no way that there was any reign/binding/loosing prior to that time. What did happen was Jesus started the proclamation of the soon coming kingdom & He began training His disciples for their ordained tasks. It was a training period, not a reigning period.
