SATAN: What the Bible Really Teaches about the Devil - with Rabbi Michael Skobac
• Session #10A of 12. WHO IS SATAN? He is not who you think he is.
The Jewish and Christian concepts of Satan are extreme opposites. Why does Christianity's Devil dominate the New Testament, while you hardly ever read of Satan in the Tenach (Old Testament)? Are these two versions of Satan even the same individual? This video is part #10A of a 12-part lecture series entitled the "Counter-Missionary Survival Seminar".Questions should be directed to RabbiSkobac@JewsForJudaism.ca. Please contact us if we can help you.

Thank you for the lesson. I was raised a Christian, and a while back, I was prompted to start at the beginning. IF the New Testament was true, then the Tanakh without a preconceived notion should show this. I had to change my views of Christianity. The teaching you shared in this lesson is what I came to. HaSatan is an agent of the Most High. HaSatan is not an adversary of the Most High, but of man.

I am a Christian and I agree with you. Your interpretation of the scriptures is very sound. I was curious to how the Hebrews saw it because I have studied the Christian Bible for years and found this samething although a lot of Christians are still cought up and confused because of the Roman influence that blurred interpretations with a mix of Greek mythology. Thank you this was a great teaching.

Christianity is meant to be based on the Old Testament, yet it contradicts its teachings. It has no basis. God is the most powerful being and everything is done with his approval, so how can they even propose that Satan creates evil? They are making Satan a god.

I am a Christian but believe that God created satan to be the opposite of Him, the tree of life in Eden speaks of God and the tree of knowledge of good and evil (the tree of death) speaks of satan... I agree God created satan to be an adversery, and obstacle for us to overcome. Adam's choice to believe satan's lies however changed almost everything that God intended for Adam (man). Adam lost his sonship and authority to rule the earth with God, got kicked out of God's garden, received a mortal body of sin and ended up to live in satan's nature while satan took Adam's authority to rule the earth... Yes satan also has to operate according to God's rules, just as God do. The reason for the manifestation of Yeshua in flesh (Adam's fallen state), representing fallen Adam was to create a way for those who believe on him to be saved from satan's bondage (by his death without sin), allowing for the resurrection of our spirit and the restoration of our relationship with God.

He is a jealous god because he is the one who created us. Would you not be upset if your child turned to a different man or woman that is not you teaching them how to ride a bike or anything else the parents are supposed to do? Thats why he is jealous. False gods are statues like Buddha, greek myth gods, or even professing a man is god like Jc.

In this world of immense natural beauty, the evolutionary creation of sentient beings incorporates the ability to create good and evil, as measured by moral ethical reasoning, and beautiful music, art, literature, compassion, kindness. The ultimate purpose of all this creativity has been the subject of much speculation, debate, theology, philosophy, and writing. Creativity is what it's all about - that's the way I see it.

Thank you for sharing, you're teachings are valuable. If i may say, when you say "Christian's " you mistakenly put all in one lump, as non Jews do when speaking about Jews. I think there is great confusion in Christianity about Satan's role and they confuse Satan with Lucifer, the fallen angel. I love the book of Job because we clearly see God gave Satan the adversary role using his friends who accused Job, using religion, until Job met God. Satan, helped Job overcome his fear of losing his children, his health and his wealth...fear prevented his relationship with God. Thank you Rabbi, I greatly enjoy your teachings. Israel is Eternal... I love and support the Jewish people. Blessings from Ireland 🇮🇪 🙏

It is not the scriptures that are in error but how as Christians we have interpreted a lot of it but even in our New Testament it speaks of the overcomers and although I know Jeshua paid for my sins from my own heart I must choose to strive for the righteousness of God and that is a life work what is described to me in the New Testament as running the good race where I might stumble and fall in a test but I can acknowledge my short coming before God and get back up dust myself off and try again with out the test of this life there would be no other way to have a free will and be able to tune my soul to his Spirit and I serve him because I love Him and that is my motivation to strive every day. I have enjoyed your teaching like a very refreshing blessing. I have subscribed to your channel I want to hear more.

In the context that satan "the opposer" "our own carnal nature" is the God of this world is because we are the only ones that oppose his righteousness because he gave us a free will and from Adam who first opposed God because he had a free will to do so. Because as you mentioned before the word satan is not really a name but a description of opposition. With out this free will we could not make it our own choice to do his will. This is how I interpret was is written and I know most Christians do not that is why with out the original writings of what we Christians call the old testament we cannot correctly interpret the new one of the teachings of messiah. The transition is also a problem but if we get the original Hebrew text correctly then we can understand the true meaning of what is being said. Foregive me for my endless text.

You say in this video that angels can't sin. You need to read Genesis 6: 1 "And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose." Just as you point out, the "sons of God" are angels just as you quote Job as saying the "sons of God" are also angels. Unless you believe angels having sex with human women is not a sin. You had better rethink this thing. To misrepresent God is a serious error which holds serious consequences.

One big mistake. Through the Holy Covenant and direct presence of God. There was no need to write about evil. In the Tenach only 4x. So that does not say anything about the "quality" of the Tenach. God didn't just leave. It is not painful enough! Because the "quality" of the Jewish faith has changed. The damage has already been done. Time to face that. I suffer also. It is time to restore this Covenant. That's your job als Rabbi. God's Work of Salvation has started. Which mindset is now needed?

The cause of evil and sin begun with the advent of the five dominate vices that entered the soul. Ego, Lust, Attachment, Anger and Greed. Over the ages, religious teachings have depicted these vices as the devil, satan, fallen angels, a serpent, ravan with ten heads, demons and so on. However in reality they are the vices which dwell within the soul.

ha sa'tan is an adversary of any kind esp. human with David and Shalomo. I personally think that the prologues of Job and Zecharia were added much later. The emissary of YHVH in Num. 22 with the sword to kill (withstand sa'tan) Baalam was sent from YHVH himself, "Your way is perverse before me." And we have 1 Chron 21:1 and 2 Sam 24:1. And the passage in Isiah 14:12 about this so called Lucifer is bogus, Its "day star son of the dawn." I was a Christian at 23 yrs old but have been monotheistic since I was about 30. I read Hebrew and Greek. I personally do not believe in a devil, satan or demons, Isaiah 45:6-7. Sh'mah Yisra'el YHVH elohayhu echad!!!! Interesting perspective, the logical outcome of which leads to God being dualistic, Good and Evil. We rebel against this instinctively, which is way this Satan figure was created. The Scapegoat = Azazel. However, if we look at the world we live in, it is logical. In fact, Evil has the upper hand. Some other explanation is required. No matter how you try to get around it, God being the creator of all things is responsible for evil and even if that final day it is overcome how will we define Good in the absence of evil?

The greatest trick the devil ever played was convincing the world to worship him in the name of God. In churches around the world people line up to symbolically consume the blood and flesh of the messiah. While at the same time behind closed doors the LITERAL blood and flesh of potential messiahs are consumed by the same people that claim Christ is the messiah, because they know he wasn’t! All they care about is themselves and their own glory. They don’t care that they are offering children to Satan as an offering and Satan doesn’t care that these people gain favor in our eyes. Satan only wants one thing! To stop the true messiah. Heads up, Satan loses. These truths will be revealed to the world one day when the True Messiah our Moshiach will lift the veils that cover the eyes of the Father’s children and bring them back into the light. The son of God would not have you worship him. The son of God would not tell you the only way to the Father is through Him. God didn’t send you a middleman, the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. Why would God put anything between us and Him? He would not and did not. God will bring us a messenger not someone who would have us set up idols, drink wine and worship him in the name of the Father. If you want salvation if you want into the Father’s house; do not seek the son, the daughter, the cat or the dog. Go straight to the Father! Our father, our abba. God would not have you eat His son, He would have you learn that this life is not about the individual.

Jesus is for everyone and anyone can believe in Jesus and be accepted this is why so many people around the world believe in Jesus and why He is our messiah. Jewish people only accept Jewish people they do not accept the foreigner, they do not try to preach to all the nations, they only accept themselves and this is why Jesus is special because He is not like this. Jesus loves anyone no matter what! He said that He will bless all nations, ALL NATIONS!!!! How many nations believe in Jesus???? Think about it. For God so loved the world that He sent His only son that WHOSOEVER believeth in Him shall have ever lasting life!!! Most Jews dont believe this and the reason why is because they are waiting for a messiah who will only help them and fight only for them. It is sad but many Jewish people who do not accept Jesus only care about themselves, their own people/nation. This is why the pharisees and sadducees wanted to kill Jesus and it is because He cared for all people and wasn't just there for the Jewish people. If an outsider wanted to marry this man's daughter I think he would greatly forbid it just because the man is not Jewish. Jesus loves all. Jesus is the saviour of the ENTIRE WORLD and not just one people.

According to Christianity the fallen angel firstly appears in the book of Genesis cp2.. he's the one who speaks through the snake... so is that so, was he sent by God to tempt Eve & then to tempt Adam? Or it was just an ordinary snake which for apparently no reason thought of sth like telling a lie... But stop... then He punishes the snake & all its kind 🤔

In the book of Job, Satan is the AKA for (previously known as) Lucifer. Jesus called Satan "the accuser" (of the brethren), and "the father of lies". It boils down to this: If Jesus isn't the son of God, then he was the liar, but if he is the son of God, then he knows a lot more than ANYONE else - including every angel. King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. The "promised one", the messiah. The savior of all mankind. Why not accept him? I'm here to be a witness that he is real. The only son of the true and living God, who came to save us from sin and shame. The sin happens while we're here. The shame will take place when we meet the Father without having accepted what He has offered us.
