the entire satc franchise is a total guilty pleasure and sometimes I just roll my eyes at it and have to walk away, but I felt the same way. Showing Carrie's depression and slow recovery, how she found love in unlikely places, and her friends tirelessly taking care of her in the beginning was strangely beautiful and I did not expect to be genuinely moved from something like the sex and the city movie lol

Sorry, but as someone who had experienced food poisoning/D&V first hand and more than once, I'm biased in saying that this is not funny. Yes, I KNOW it's a movie and it's fictional but I just cannot understand how anyone thinks that having diarrhoea is funny because it's not. It's humiliating, whether it's by one's self or in front of people. Even worse in front of people. And in SATC, they're meant to be her friends! I know I sound as prim and prissy as Charlotte but I would never laugh at a friend in a situation like that but that's just me. As I said, I've been ill with this myself so I know I'm projecting. I can see what you’re saying, and I agree it does look racist. However, the water situation is true though . I stayed with some family in Mexico from spring until fall last year, and if you ingest the water from the sink or shower, you can get very sick. I mistakenly brushed my teeth with the water from the sink, for the first few weeks there and I got a really bad gastrointestinal infection. Vomiting, constant watery diarrhea. It’s not something you want to endure. It’s also something that my family did warn me about, they advised me to use bottled water to brush my teeth and to try not to have the water from the shower go into my mouth. It’s not that Mexico is unsanitary, it’s just that the water over there unfortunately is contaminated and like I said, you can get really ill.

It’s not racist it’s a well known fact that even though today the purification of tapwater has improved greatly in Mexico it’s still not nearly as safe as the tapwater you are used to drinking let alone back then because the water would become contaminated on the way to your faucet and can make you extremely sick, it was unsanitary. Take even five minutes to do research and this will be very apparent especially given the time this was filmed.

No tourist are always warned not to drink foreign water no matter where you go around the world because your stomach isn’t used to it but especially at the time this was filmed in Mexico their purification system was not what it is in the United States and many people reported upset stomachs.
