When you soften all of your terrain paint, you can use the largest square paint tool and place the center of the square over the house. It's so great because it softens everything evenly. It's a feature that wasn't available until Sims 4. ♥

Are you wearing a Sookie Stackhouse shirt?! Love it! One of my favorite book series. (And show as well). And from someone who lives in the desert, definitely cactus, LOTS of cactus. We also have agave, yucca, mesquite, lantana, and believe it or not, palms grow here too. It's surprisingly lush, even though it's the desert, especially during monsoon season when all the grasses and flowers explode. I really like what you did with that little house, it looks great! SO much better than the original. Also, very common in the American SW for our homes to have a "great room" and open kitchen. Very open floor plans, which I'm guessing is to help with the heat and air circulation.

I resently stole a child ghost from that house and brought him back to life 😂 I was just minding my bussness fishing nearby, when I got a notification about a fire. I was confused. Found a crying couple coverd in ashes and a todler infront of the house. Tried to enter the house to put out the fire but was not allowed to. I could not contact the firedepartment as I could not reach the fire. The sim I had there fishing is a bad ass when it comes to fire, she has put out multiple that her husband started while cooking while he was hysterical and getting himself caught on fire multiple times 😅 Anyways back to the story, I keept trying to put out the fire. As I was looking for ways to reach it, a child returned home from school. The adults where chill now. So he just went inside, burned to death. They did not warn him. The todler also went inside while the place was on fire. But got back out safe. They also did not atempt to stop the toodler. Eventualy the firedepartment came as the fire spread outside and I could use the calll firedeapartment interaction. There is no smocke detector in the house.. After I feelt so bad for the kid, my sim is a spellcaster, but you can't use magic on children. So I made ambrosia and gave it as a gift only to learn that they don't eat it if they are not part of your household. I tried to become his best friend to invite him to join the household but you can't do that with them either when they are kids. Eventually I just used cheats, cooked a new batch and had him eat it. I guess my sim just adopted a new kid. He is better off, he had no toys and no bed in that house, now he has a large bed room lots of toys and all he could ever need. But I still feel like my sim just comitted a crime and kidnaped this young ghost boy then brought him back to life to play house as her own kids are becoming adults 😂🙈 But in a way I guess she also saved him from neglegt, as his previous gardians just let him walk into a burning house 😂

The two main things that have always bothered about this house are, like you said, there is no door to the bedroom, and the house is very dark inside. I did do a cute remodel once, where there was an adorable little loft up top, with a ladder to get to it, made for a teenage girl.

I have a comment about that painting with the girl with the messy hair and sunglasses, EA should have given us at least 4 different colors so we could size them down and put them in 4s like an Andy Warhol painting. It would be a good homage to him considering today is his birthday.

I call that abomination «The Bunker» or «The Claustrophobia Trigger». Doing better won't be hard. Reason why I don't put counters in the bathroom : My Sims will prepare their food in the bathroom instead of the kitchen when there are counters in the bathroom... EVEN if that bathroom is NOT on the same floor and on the opposite side of the house. As there is a public trash can right next to that house, you don't need an outside trash container. Save a few § by exploiting the surrounding area. Always put that small telescope close to a door.
