An utmost ambiguous piece. It stirs up emotions of melancholy, sheer sadness, yet also has a tinge of optimism and curiosity. The wonderful trait of classical music, or one of many, is the fact that one can perceive a piece whichever way they wish.

This piece haunts me, not only is it wonderful, but i feel there's such a modern tone to it, after all these years i'm still baffled by the fact that it was written in the late 1800's
@CIA.2024-u9bАй бұрын
Modernity began in these days and Satie captured it. I think it is for this reason that they felt l'ennuie du fin du siècle. This piece reflects for me how modern men, or maybe even all mankind ever felt subconscioulsy about their existence in this world. I think this is why the piece haunts you and me also by the way.

I'm from Argentina, and I go to Brazil almost every year. When I hear a piece made by Satie, I don't think of Paris or any city of Europe, I think about Brazil! I don't know why, but the Gnossiens, the Gymnopédies and the Sonatine Bureaucratique bring to me the images of rainfall in the morros and the beach at night. It's pretty sad that because of Corona, I'm probably not going to Brazil for a while, so at least I can hear this beautiful piece to remember. Great job, Lord!

I’ve heard this song when I was little. It was those kind of VHS tapes with classical music for babies or smth. It felt so calming when I was young, like music that (even despite listening to unique genres of music now in this digital age,) still brings me memories of those times I’d lay in that little blue crib I my parents room, whilst this one song would play. I remember those memories so fondly, so vividly. Even in age, I find myself soothed. Like that of when I was young.

This music just paints a picture of wandering down Parisian alleys in some 1950s film noir even though its considerably older. But that's what I like about classical music it enables you to paint metaphorical pictures in your imagination and no one can intrude on them
