Satisfy Your Anime Food Cravings with this Mitarashi Dango Recipe - A Taste of Japanese Culture!

If you’ve watched Japanese anime or even some video games you may have seen this delicious treat here and there. I grew up eating this treat, and I consider it my favorite dessert.
Ingredients:
Dango
70 g glutinous rice flour（shiratama-ko）
70 g rice flour（joshin-ko)
30 g sugar
100-120g water (If it’s too hard after kneading it, add a touch more water till it’s the consistency of hard play-doh)
Mitarashi sauce (measure with your heart)
Soy sauce
Brown sugar (you can also use granulated sugar)
Honey (optional)
Potato starch
Water
Skewers
Water for boiling
Ice water to chill
Torch lighter to char
Make the sauce first by mixing all the ingredients for it and thicken it up on medium heat in a frying pan. For the dango, mix all powders together add in the water gradually while mixing. The consistency should be like play-doh, not too soft, for too hard. Roll it up into big balls, then into a rod, chop them into equal sizes and roll them into balls. Boil them for about 2-3 minutes until they float till the surface. Chill them in ice cold water for about 5-6 minutes before skewering them. Once skewered you can either use a torch to char them, or slightly roast it in a frying pan. Cover in sauce and serve.
