As many of our visitors may have noticed, the library windows were in bad shape. We are happy to announce that last month the window project was completed. On behalf of the Satsuma Public Library Board, staff and community, we would like to thank Mayor Barlow and City Council members for their dedication to the preservation of this historic and beloved building. We would also like to thank the J. L. Bedsole Foundation for their $10,000 contribution to this project. Last but certainly not least, we would like to thank Joe Tarver Construction for their hard work and attention to detail on this project. Much care and consideration went into preparing for this venture.
Satsuma Public Library is housed in what was known as “The Old White School Building” It was originally built in 1936 and was the local school for children 1st- 12th grade.
Satsuma Public Library was established in 1994. Many memories and generations have passed through these halls. How poetic that this building continues to serve as an education tool for the community of Satsuma. Many people enjoy passing through to walk the halls and reminisce.
Once again, thank you to all who were involved in the restoration of our Town Treasure. Please stop by to see all the exciting things your library has to offer. In the meantime, please enjoy this video of our window project.
