The Raptor is such an excellent attack dog of a fighter jet. Like, it literally was designed to hunt down targets like a stealthy wolf, and then annihilate everything that is unfortunate enough to be in its sights, without said targets ever knowing it was there to begin with. The F-35 is a killer bloodhound on steroids, but the F-22 is a freaking wolf.

So... the "eye in the sky" wasn't up yet, but these Flankers knew where you were. Was it just visual contact? Seems like it. Some Russian pilot had sharp eyes. Didn't save him. Looks like the AMRAAM tends to go for the midsection of an aircraft, which would tend to heighten the number of pilot kills... (and pilots are worth much more than any aircraft.)
