I used to go to Bournemouth every year as a kid (generally at the Hinton Firs) for 6 years. Loved it. I recognise the road and hotel names. Been back a few times since, various hotels, but HF was in there. Was there again a month ago and the town has gone down hill a bit. Town centre shops boarded up, grafitti, not how I remember it. Stayed at The Green House. The HF is looking very sorry for itself now. The pool had no water and was looking in very bad shape. I spent hours in there! Sad to see.

Yes there are a lot of boarded up shops in town but that's because the rent is outrageous. Outside of central London, Bournemouth is the most expensive place to live in the UK, were in the top ten/fifteen in the world alongside Dubai, LA, and NY.

First off pet peev... the percentages on your weather app are not for chances of rain it's for coverage, so when it does rain in that area it means e.g 80 percent of that area will be rained on. Use to love Bournemouth in my teens a good 17 years ago 😂 it's gone down hill so much it's a shame.

Sadly,Bournemouth has lost its heart now. It used to be a lovely town that catered for all budgets and tastes. You could watch Mike Yarwood on the pier or catch The Damned at the Chelsea Village Bowl. Then you could grab a kebab in Holdenhurst road or a 5 star nosh up at the Royal Bath hotel. It would welcome the blue rinse brigade and the spikey haired punks with equal warmth even if they didn't particularly gel with each other. Violence was rare and was usually confined to a bout of drunken fisticuffs resulting in a black eye and a bruised ego. Unlike now, there was a fairly low key drug culture which was mainly indulged behind the scenes. The only exception to the rule would be if Hawkwind were playing the Winter Gardens and you would be stoned as soon as you took a breath in the foyer! I realise that that I may have " rose tinted glasses syndrome " but i did really love the place and am so disappointed at the way it's been allowed to decline. Oh,by the way kids....Hawkwind?. asked your grandad 🤣

Wiggles was the registrar. I got married there 30 years ago Also the reason the shops are all closed is because the business rates are sky high and all the shop owners ran away! Apparently the council still haven't learnt any lessons and shops are continuing to close all the time. Bournemouth used to be beautiful but now its just and endless stream of barbers, restaurants, dodgy phone shops and cafes. Apparently primark are thinking of moving to Castle point. That will be the coffin nail for the town centre

Lived in Boscombe in mid 90's and it was ok, if a bit grimy. Towards the eastcliff is nice, with all the trees, walks, gardens and what was fairly unspoilt top of the cliff then. Went there in 2016 and was not impressed, especially going down to Boscombe pier. Looking east, the frontage is all water sport stuff, looking west is an eyesore of junk on the prom edge and beach! Used to be a clear view to Bournemouth pier, not anymore! It's like new age people got onto councils around the country and are all for anything that looks an eyesore! Bournemouth beach was always heaving with people, but someone feels the need to put on events every day! Those modern art things are a waste of money and are everywhere....those damn upside down houses and a big wheel are everywhere too! Kind of boring if you ask me, making seafronts look like high streets of every town! I like the original uniqueness of a place Money only goes so far, so too many things going on in a small space is self defeating. Just have people enjoy the gardens, the beach, a show, amusements, a host of places to eat and the views unique to an area etc.
