According to the info I could find on this...this..."crossover"...this was done by a group of students of Beijing University, as a proof of concept, and they actually developed this entire thing (INCLUDING *all* animations) in, like, *two months* or so...this is the TRUE "power of China"? @@lancergt1000 Polishing/bug fixing, highly likely, and etc. The content was done in ~2 months, but after that QA began, which lasted for much longer before the game gone gold. This is nothing new or surprising in the game developing scene, even for big companies with large funding. For example, CDPR stated that CyberPunk 2077's content was done sometime by the end of 2018, yet they decided to push release date further several times due to additional polishing needed. Might as well mention Yanderedev, too.

It's a 100% self-aware product. They didn't promise anyone anything and clearly every single last yuan was accounted for during the development. You're overthinking this way too much/too hard, I believe. And as far as "polishing already-completed content for 3 straight years"...I wouldn't be surprised even one last bit if someday more info on this project comes out somewhere/from someone and we may find out that the release date was deliberately moved to match this group's graduation from the university (so it might've been their "alumni prom" kind of a thing, their "goodbye & thank you" to their teachers).

The Streets of Rage connection is so bizarre. So, in the early 2010s, independently of each other, two groups of young developers, one in France and one in China wanted to make Streets of Rage 4, and as a proof of concept made a game which uses goofy photos turned into in-game sprites: Streets of Fury, and Dong Dong Never Die respectively. As it happens the French developers are the ones who ended up making Streets of Rage 4. This game is like looking into an alternate timeline.

+KamelGuru The lore for this game is literally the plot of Terminator 2. No, really, it is...I mean, the intro is a straight rip of the Terminator 2 narration. To further explain: Asian John Connor aka "Dong Dong" is the guy in the black shirt with the white dress-shirt over it. Super Saiyan John Connor, or more accurately translates as "Violent/Furious Dong Dong" is the shirtless pale guy with the red hair and jeans. T-800 (the ally terminator) is the guy in the greyish shirt who summons his friends like missiles, and T-1000 (the final boss) is the guy in the greenish jumpsuit with the machine gun and baton. The ending boss fight is something like: T-1000 wants to blow up the world by riding a shuttle into space and then crashing it, or...something? And you face T-1000, and defeat him. In a post-credits sequence, you fight the people you fought in story mode consecutively; they come in a team of two, then four, then six or so? including the final boss, and you carry your health bar between rounds. Note that story mode doesn't cover everybody and is random who you get; for example they didn't get to fight Autobots-T-shirt guy or construction worker in the story mode.

For those of you still haunting this channel years later, Streets of Rage 4 was released Apr 30th 2020, and appears to have that chick from the last splash screen. I can't seem to confirm whether or not anyone from the Dong Dong production was involved as finding definitive information on the team who made Dong Dong is rather difficult. But the graphics are modern hand drawn smooth lines with no pixels, so probably not, who knows. Got me hype though.

'Banksy' is actually Sun Wukong (孫悟空), aka "Monkey", one of the most well known and significant literary characters in Journey to the West'. Hard to think of a Western equivalent, maybe Robin Hood in terms of a similar type of character who is near universally known of in Western society and has a similar standing as semi-mythic. The other guy is Zhuge Liang (諸葛亮). He was a famous ruler and military leader from southwest China (modern day Sichuan Province), during the second and third centuries AD. He kind of came the other way around to Sun Wukong - he was a historical figure, who like Confucius and others, achieved mythical, near deiific status after their deaths, and are held up as an exemplar in China's cultural history. Yeah, so this is a thing.
