1975, Kiss were coming to Freedom Hall Civic Center, Johnson City, TN. This guy we knew, who was somewhat of a con-man, called up the "Motel" where the band would be staying, represented himself as being with a talent agency and booked a room near the band. He also extended and invitation for the band to join us down by the pool for a pre-show party. We had a keg and banquet tables with table cloth, etc. Well, there were three bands on the bill, The Heavy Metal Kidds, a little band we'd never heard of called "Rush" and, of course, KISS. Well, The H.M.Kidds joined us for our little soiree but, no Rush, no Kiss. But ! Next thing we know someone came and got us, brought us to a double bed motel room where the local FM station and, a DJ named Wurm was scheduled to interview Kiss. So, in walks Paul and Gene, sans makeup and we sat through the interview and got to chat with 'em. Gene laid out there future planes including the dbl. live sets and everything, his merchandising plans were already in the works. It was a cool memory.
