Norm was the one who originally came up with the idea to parody Celebrity Jeopardy, without him we wouldn't have one of the funniest reoccurring sketches on SNL. RIP, Turd Ferguson!

There's more to this story. Norm publicly said he got the idea from an SCTV skit back in the day. Turns out Eugene Levy had come up with that original skit. Rather than borrow it, Norm had enough respect to call Levy and ask permission to use. Levy, to his credit, said yeah, go for it.

The "ASIAAAAA" sound effect is actually a tribute to the old SNL sketch "Quiz Masters" from 1986, where the correct answer to one of the questions, read twice by Phil Hartman in the same tone of voice, was "Asiaaaa"

Darryl Hammond as Connery aside, the best part of these is watching celebrities imitate other celebrities: Even if they're not exactly perfect, you can tell they're having a blast🥰 It's different for the cast members--they do impersonations for a living...for many of the hosts, this is the only chance they will ever have to show off their mimicry skills. I mean, without Celebrity Jeopardy on SNL, who would have ever known that David Duchovny does an absolutely spot-on Jeff Goldblum impression?♥️

I've watched all of celebrity jeopardy last night and shortly afterwards, I found out that Norm Macdonald passed away. Well, I laughed so much at Norm's character of Burt Reynolds and then cried upon hearing of his passing. RIP Norm MacDonald 😰 and thank you for making us laugh through the years
