This awesome woman whom many have wished was their mother, grandmother, etc. never had any children of her own-per her declared choice-unlike the character she played in this skit. My folks and I watched The Lawrence Welk Show every Saturday Night and Dad and I would watch SNL as well. SNL with Dan Aykroyd, Steve Martin, John Belushi, Jane Curtin, Gilda Radner, etc. FYI, Lawrence Welk was born in the US. He was born on March 11, 1903 in Strasburg, North Dakota. Welk didn't even learn to speak English until he was twenty-one and never felt comfortable speaking it in public. I loved both TV shows!
