I love how they were all so savage on this show. Dorothy was savage in a calculated way. Blanche was savage on impulse. Rose was accidentally and unknowingly savage. And Sophia just had no filter at all.

Blanche: Dorothy, your husband is here. Dorothy: I don't have a husband, call the police. Stan: Your ex-husband! Dorothy: Then I'll call the police! Blanche: Can you imagine your son going into his 60s always going to you for help with no life and a job. (Doorbell rings and Dorothy gets up to open the door.) Dorothy: No, I can't. (She opens it to find Stan in front of her) Dorothy: Yes, I can!

(pointing to his toupee) Dorothy: Oh please! Stevie Wonder could tell that's a rug! Blanche: Dorothy, your husband is here. Dorothy: I don't have a husband. Call the police. Stan: Your ex-husband, Stan. Dorothy: I'll call the police! Dorothy: That didn't sound right on our honeymoon and it doesn't sound right, now! Dorothy: Rose, you work in Grief Counseling. What do you expect, comedians?! Dorothy: I used to think Stan would take care of me. I mean, we didn't have much saved, but he was a darn good novelty salesman. Sounds naïve to think I've placed my hopes on the future to a bald pinhead, with the morals of a maggot who made a living selling plastic dog doo. But at least, I'm not bitter.

Blanche's line is such a great set up for Dorothy's. It's equal parts surprise and lust.

I watched this show when I was in middle school. It still makes me laugh. The chemistry between all four women is undeniable. The one-liners make me laugh every time. Bea Arthur could deliver a line with just her eyes and face. Estelle Getty had the cruelest lines but got away with it like no other. This is a great show.

How does this show have me cracking up over 30 years after its release? It's so timeless and the episodes and jokes never get old. Please keep betty safe and guard her.

At the dance marathon/competition--Blanche: "I have more stamina". Dorothy: "Blanche, we are not dancing on our backs." When they're auditioning for "Cats"--Dorothy: "I could never compete with you, Blanche. You've given some of your finest performances in back alleys."

Or this one: "Lest we forget the 1964 Tokyo Olympics." I thought of it because the 2020 Tokyo Olympics have finally started. When I heard the news that Tokyo had won the rights to host the 2020 Olympics; I was extremely happy because it would be the first time since 1964 that Tokyo has hosted the Summer Olympics and the fourth time overall that Japan has hosted either the Summer or Winter Olympics. Sapporo, Japan hosted the 1972 Winter Olympics and Nagano hosted the 1998 Winter Olympics.
