I think all guitarists understand just how fuckin' hard it is to play totally perfect 100% of the time as Jack is here. Like, Jack is the sole source of melodic content here in this song. A true rock 'n' roll moment on television. It was 2002 and I just had my mind blown by The Strokes (also on SNL). I kept hearing The White Stripes mentioned alongside them but had not heard them yet. While in line at In-N-Out in Downey, CA, KROQ 106.7 played this track and my mouth was in my lap! I went to Middle Earth Records to find a CD and was puzzled that there were only two people on the cover. Where was the rest of the band? Now knowing they were only a duo, my buddy and I anxiously awaited the SNL performance. I thought Jack was just going to stand there while she drummed in the background. I was NOT PREPARED for what I saw! And neither was my best friend! As soon as this performance ended, my phone rang. I picked up and my best bud screamed "WAS THAT NOT AWESOME OR WHAT?!"

This performance is comfort food. Every now and then when things aren't going so great, I open up KZbin, search "SNL White Stripes" and watch this. Then all is well again.

Shout out to Arthur Hamilton for writing this classic and timeless song. About 20 years ago I sat next to him at comedy traffic school in Los Angeles. We ended up writing a handful of songs together.

It is fantastic to see you singing and performing, and with the emotion, you have got 'the goods'. Please feel free to share more as you desire ...you have reignited my flame for true raw emotional music and real creativity. 🤘😊👍♥️
