They know it gets under your skin so they keep doing it. Don't show any sign that they bother you by saying it. Then they'll see it doesn't affect you so they'll stop using that line. They might try to use another one though. But the key is, if something does bother you don't admit it at all, show no sign whatsoever that you're angry or upset, even laugh out loud if you feel like it. If someone is trying to upset you, and you get angry in response, it just guarantees that they'll do it more and more. Easy to say, easy to understand, but hard to actually DO in the heat of the moment. Sorry to hear that you have "heavy handed" fathers. My dad did passive aggressive stuff too. He's dead now and I miss him. Small stuff like that doesn't mean much in the big picture of Life and Death. Don't sweat the small stuff and never lose your sense of humor. Peace out and take it easy boys.

I grew up in Philly, my Dad was a Teamster, truck driver, masonry contractor, all around wise guy. One time he busted up his hand at his side contracting biz, said he did it at the Teamster job, had a cast on for weeks. So I was a little 11 year old brat, in the back seat, looking over the middle between my parents in the front. Dad found a rare empty onstreet parking space, being a trucker, pulled up to back in, had to do it fast so no one stole it from behind, he whipped his right arm around & Beaned me Squarely in the nose with his casted arm, breaking my nose & gushing blood all over the seats of his mint condition Chevy Impala. He was way more concerned about the blood stains than my nose. I knew not to cry a tear or I'd be hit even harder.
