Short video and processed image from Saturn's opposition last night. Not my best capture of the planet. I'm also not as proficient with the planets as I am with DSO's. I usually use a mono camera but last night I tried my OSC ASI533CM Pro (cooler turned off). I really need an ADC (Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector) if I want to use OSC. The blue shift was very noticeable. I had some success in processing it out but overall sharpness was impacted. Might try again in a few days with my asi178mm if the seeing is good.
For those not familiar with planetary astrophotography let me explain what you are seeing.
The video has a green bias due to the camera sensor being more sensitive to green than red and blue.
To create a image of the planet, you record video. You then use a program that stacks the best quality video frames into a single image. This image is then processed in editing software to correct the color, reduce noise & sharpen details.
Equipment used:
Celestron Edge HD 8
ZWO ASI533MC Pro
Skywatcher EQ6R Pro
Optolong Lum filter
