Except you missed one thing. The audio recording equipments were terrible back then. Today the equipments catch even minor murqis in high definition. Hence the vibrato and murqis sound more pronounced when played back.

No singer principally talks ill of other singers like no businessman can talk ill of other businessman. But the fact of matter is that Rafi was just a COPYBOOK singer, nothing more than that. Rafi was ZERO in improvisation and innovation unlike Kishore Da who was the master of improvisation and innovation. Kishore Kumar WAS / IS / WILL FOREVER BE the best male singer of Bollywood and almost all (90%) singing records are in the name of Kishore da. So, Rafi was not anywhere near the class of Kishore Kumar.
